Frank's Steak House Ratings and Reviews
I went to Frank's for the first time a few days ago and will definitely be going back.
As others have stated, it's just a good local old-school steakhouse. Good food, nice (if a bit dated) atmosphere, good service, and reasonable prices. The fact they take reservations is a big plus for me. Really the only negative is the difficulty of parking in the area.
I have been going to Frank's for over 20 years. It has always been a family favorite. We dined there last week for my birthday. It had been 4 years since I had been there. I first noticed that the restaurant was very quiet for a Friday night. Not the usual excitement at the bar. I found that most of the prices have increased and the dinner salad was smaller than I had remembered. I did want to order the sizzling steak platter, but did not think it was worth $30. I specifically asked my waiter to cook my steak rare. As I remember, they usually overcook their steaks. I like my steaks a perfect medium rare. After a bit of an attitude from him, he placed our order. The salads were great (nice dressings). When the steak came out... Medium. I sent it back. When our waiter presented the check, he took my entree off the bill , but reminded me to order my steak the next time Extra Rare. A rude comment. I do not like extra rare steak, but obviously if you want a steak medium rare at Frank's you need to order extra rare. I will not go back. I have had many nice memories at that restaurant, but it just doesn't have the same vibe, service and value that it use to. Look elsewhere.
I never leave this kind of review. I have only left a review like this one other time. We have eaten at Frank's a few times over the years. Always a good dinner and friendly service. So I give them a 10 in my book and we eat out at least 3 times a week at various Restaurants. Thank you
We went New Year's Eve and joyed delicious steaks. My partner had the famous sizzler and I ordered a flavorful classic rib eye. Both steaks came out hot. However, the sides where served cool and had to be reheated. And there weren't any options for "green" vegetables that night. If you want a great steak then this is the place. Steakhouse atmosphere with classic furnishings. It was a holiday treat.
What a great steak restaurant that has been in business for many years... always reliable. The Staff was exceptionally kind and the service was well timed. I adored my prime rib which had 3 weight categories. Also my Manhattan was one of the best I had ever had.. not very large but extremely balanced and cold! We don't go to that part of Cambridge often but when we do we always try to go to Franks.
My family, including our three young grandchildren, had a nice meal and an overall good time for my birthday. The food was great and our server was efficient and patient. Because it was a Tuesday, we also found parking right outside the restaurant which was a plus!
Went here for a birthday dinner date with the bf due to Phantom Gourmet's reviews. The quality of the food and value with the price was definitely on point, really recommend it. It reminded me of a lot of the places I grew up going to with family like Hilltop or Picadilly Pub, loud and boisterous, lots of food for the price. The waitress left something to be desired but other than the unfriendly service I would really recommend it. (and she wasn't rude or incompetent, just not welcoming or warm in any way)
Love, love, love this place. The steaks are the best and the price is right. 5 of us had reservations for 6, no waiting, sat right down. Myself and another had the clam chowder, the best I’ve had in a long time. Another diner had the onion loaf appetizer, fantastic! We all had some kind of steak dinner, everyone very happy with their choices. Can’t wait to go back. Service was spot on.
We (myself, husband, kids, parents, and friends), have been coming here for many years now. Never disappointed by the food and comfortable atmosphere. Rocco is a gem. He always makes you feel welcomed. All the wait staff are friendly and work hard to make your visit a great experience. The food speaks for itself. Always delicious, great quality and nice selection. There’s something for everyone.
Sharon, waitress was very good. We drove 1.5 hours and although most of the meal was very good, it will not be memorable and we wouldn't go back. If you are in the area it would be a good stop for a nice steak. My rib eye was the only steak that came with seasoning, the london broil, NY strip and filet did not. Mixed drinks were a bit weak.
four of us went for the Early bird special and had a wonderful meal. The choices are very good and the amount served is perfect. I do not believe in "doggy bagging" but hate to waste food so the servings suit me. The fudge sauce on vanilla ice cream is to die for!
Celebrating my wife’s retirement with a quick get away trip to Boston. We found this restaurant to be just what we were looking for. Great food and ambience, moderate pricing on steaks that were cooked perfectly. Next time we come this way, we’ll be sure to come back to Frank’s Steakhouse.
Our waitress was not very good or talkative. We had a few problems with our orders, and they were not handled well by her. She was supposed to go look into what was in our drinks but never got back to us about the problem and just moved forward with other things. The food was good, and priced well. I would eat there again, but I will be in no hurry to go back.
I was looking for a place to host a group of 12 hungry rowers/coaches the night before their race at the Head of the Charles and I found the perfect place with Frank's Steak House. The food was plentiful and delicious (you must be a meat lover), the atmosphere was comfortable, and the cost was reasonable. Standouts on the menu were the Nacho's Platter smothered in Ed's Chili and Fried Onion Loaf for appetizers and Frank's NY Sirloin and Prime Rib entrees. Will remember this place for future events.
