Frank's Steak House
Great early bird specials and food hasn’t suffered over the years. Good people, better food
Steak is way over priced otherwise its okay
I think it could be a good place to dine. But our experience was a little disappointing. We had to ask the waitress for water, bread and a wine cooler. Those are basic things no need to have to ask for them. Then when the meals arrived they were not hot!
Was looking forward to traveling a long distance to Cambridge for the highly rated restaurant by Phantom Gourmet. We made reservations. Arrived 5 minutes before the reserved time. To my disappointment, right from entering, the bad service began. The restaurant was not half full but we had to wait 15 minutes for our table to be cleared and cleaned, though we made reservations. Waitress was okay, didn’t mention there was a daily special menu, just came across it on the table. Our table ordered prime rib and ribeye. Ribeye was thin and somewhat warm. Prime ribs were just cold, not well seasoned. Fries were hard and mashed potatoes ice cold. And my sidecar and lemon drop martini drinks were watered down way too much. Best food was the appetizer of Calamari Sicilian, the hot rolls and chicken soup. I won’t return or recommend the restaurant.
Simply the best
Early bird menu is varied and plenty. The hot fudge sundae is outstanding.
This restrant is the best in Boston
It’s always amazing there!!
We had a blast and our waiter was very friendly
It was great! Was there for my boyfriends birthday. Great time had by all!
Food was very good; my ONE complaint is that they really try to rush you out of there, which I detest. We had a 5 PM reservation and arrived at 4:45; were seated promptly. We ordered drinks and then an appetizer. I like to linger over my food and do not want to be rushed; the waitress kept coming over and asking if we were ready to order, etc. We did order and then when we finished, she immediately provided the dessert menu. I wanted to digest a bit and I told her that. My companion ordered another drink and then I ordered dessert. All in all, we spent a little over 2 hours there and if they had their way, we'd have been out in under an hour. I know it was Saturday night and there were people waiting, but that is not my problem.
Frank's delivers as advertised. I had a minor concern with the server that the owner was quick to respond and remedy.
Enjoyed the visit. Food was good. Portion a little on the small size. Second time here that we asked for bread and didn’t get it. Overall a pleasant experience.
Staff was great our server who had our table of 7 was very helpful and was able to help us surprise my husband with a slice of cake for his birthday! Food was exceptional and pricing was great. We are definitely coming again.
Frank's Steak House continues to give great service and food. A very attentive server made the evening very enjoyable with the quality of food just adding to the overall experience.
Best beef any way you cook it! Delicious sides. Try the Tomahawk for a real treat.
A great old Cambridge place. Reasonably priced good food.
The steak was chewy and portion was skimpy but for the price what can you expect?
Very good food at a low price. Would recommend to anyone!
My first time there. You exceeded my expectations.
That was the best filet mignon I have had in years.
The waitress was great.
I have a new favorite restaurant.
Disappointing sides. Fries were not fresh. Baked potato seemed to have been baked awhile ago. Veg of the day was also old.
Sizzler steak was good. Tip is to add a slice of butter that came with the rolls on the sizzling platter and let the steak sit in the pool of butter. Steak is much better as a result. Good steak but most likely not Prime but Choice. Prime rib was a bit on the tough and unseasoned.
Grapenut pudding was dry and not very fresh. Waitress was very good and saw we didn't eat it and realize it was most likely old.
We loved our experience. So glad we made a reservation because it was a two hour wait when we arrived. The food was delicious and well prepared. We’ll be back soon!
Great meal for a very reasonable price. walked out for 4 people all getting steaks one being a tomahawk and the meal only came to 225 with a over 20% tip. server was really good I just couldn't tell if he was serious about the job or in a upset mood he was very abrupt and rushed. overall tho great experience and I would definatly go back again. well worth it.
Classic steakhouse with booths and great low noise level that you can talk with table mates. Food great value and quality. There is a reason it has been in business for so long!
We had a great meal.... service was awesome!! We will definitely be back
It was our first time there , we loved it ! Great food and atmosphere was wonderful !
George had a booth for us , we had made a reservation , he’s very kind and friendly with the customers !
We will definitely go back !
Reservations are recommended. We had reservations for 5:30 Sunday and people were waiting up to an hour. Food and service was Very good.
Absolutely the food staff and drinks. The atmosphere is so warming
Disappointing at best. Steak not cooked as requested.
Pork chop small and over cooked.
Shouldn’t call themselves a steak house.
Great place great food. If any complaint took a long time to get meal but well worth it. Has to be added to your bucket list got the Fred Flintstone cut!!! Was good.
Great meal the tomahawk steak was perfectly prepared. Onion soup was delicious.
It took almost 2 hrs to get our meal because a filet was ordered med-well, and they were busy(never a problem at other steakhouses). We had to ask for our soup & salad well after our appetizer was finished. The ribeye was not cooked to temp(med). I might have ate half of the steak as it was undercooked and chewy. The baked stuffed shrimp should be called stuffing with shrimp. The stuffing far out weighed miniature butterflied shrimp. The cooked onions were good. The drinks were on the strong side which was a plus. Smh...
We were there for my son's birthday the waitress what's horrible we order a appetizers and dinner she told us she was going to space it out did akane no one came to clear the table from the appetizers so dinner and we barely have room for the tuner when we ask sister to please remember the dishes she told us she'll be back we had to ask three time when it came time for the search should even ask us if we need it dessert she brought out a piece of cake with a candle she didn't even remove the dinner dishes before bringing it out and asking us if we needed the dessert and that was I experience at Frank's Steakhouse
I was surprised for such a fancy steak house the pricing was very reasonable however that's were the nice things end it was a shame that the waitress was not better my wife is not a big drinker one maybe two if were there a long time it seemed like the waitress was doing us a favor by bringing things to the table however when it was time for the check she was right back I have one suggestion for anyone who visits you will enjoy the food no doubt but the wait staff is something to be patient with and just in case the owners or who every is going to delete this remember the table next to us had to keep asking other wait staff to help them as there drinks went empty too.
Overall it was a great experience just the waitress who by the way complained it was busy FYI it was a FRIDAY night what did she expect.
We will return and give it another shot as I stated earlier the food was the best we have had for along time My HAT'S off to the head chef and staff hopefully on are next visit the front off the house will catch up with you.
Even with a reservation we had to wait over 25 minutes to be seated. Then the waiter was borderline rude when talking to us. We felt rushed through the evening. The only saving grace was that the food tasted delicious. Still probably never going back.
Why did we waste the night at this restaurant. Rude hostess, poor food, Sizzler is better and that's a pretty low bar. Apple cobbler was nearly raw, iceburg salad was cafateria-esk. Ordered the king cut prime rib to ensure a bone for my dog and it wasn't put in the doggy bag. NEVER AGAIN!!! Don't make the same mistake.
It’s certainly not the most expensive place in Boston, but for $29 for a ribeye steak, I expect it to be a little better. It was flavorful, but it was nothing special. I would not say avoid this place. I would say lower your expectations.
The tomahawk steat was the best steak I've ever had
Frank’s is consistently good. I had the surf and turf prime rib, fried shrimp with fries and Caesar salad. My partner had the rib eye, baked and Caesar salad . Katie our server was awesome, we were seated upon arrival and throughly enjoyed our meal.
