Franklinville Inn Ratings and Reviews
We have dined here before prior to the restaurant started accepting reservations. On this opportunity we decided to make reservations using Open Table. That’s when we discovered that the restaurant has a very strange policy accepting OpenTable reservations. They have a 4 person limit using Open Table. Since our party had 6, we inquired with the inn before booking using Open Table.
We really didn’t get a reason as to why, but was told to book using Open Table as a party of 4, to qualify for the points and then call back and they will change the reservation from 4 to 6, which we did. Expecting everything to be ok. Until we arrived and found our change was not taken care of.
So that delayed our seating and when seated we found our table arrangement less than desirable. In their haste, the inn placed a much smaller table together with another. Hardly adequate for larger patrons.
Frankly, we don’ t know why we couldn’t have been placed at a nearby larger round table which appeared to better suited for our party, but we wern’t.
The next issue encountered was ordering prime rib. This is the first time being told that we couldn’t order medium rare. Just medium.
Questioning availability again, our waitresses in a very curt reply said medium. Now if the reason for unavailability was because they we out, the waitress should have explained that and not just curtly said medium. Although, she did manage to find a cut done slightly less than medium.
Having said that, overall the food and service was good.
Be forwarned. Onsite parking is very limited and there’s no valet service.
The night we visited, it was snowing and did manage to get the last parking spot in the lot, which was extremely icy without treatment. Thus making walking very hazardous for seniors such as my wife and I.
Although, the lot was just starting to be treated when leaving.
Food is unbeatable, and I'm comparing it to great restaurants in Philly, not just the area. It's reasonably priced for what you're getting, wait staff is fantastic and all employees take great pride in their efforts. Can't recommend enough, I look forward to every dinner we eat here.
We went to the Franklinville Inn based on many positive reviews of the restaurant from friends and family. We had a 7:00 reservation but did not get seated until 7:45. The service at both the bar and at our table was slow and it took a while for us to get our food, but the food was delicious and we left very full and satisfied. I think they just need to be better staffed on the weekends.
Food was delicious. Our waitress was very knowledgeable. I got the crab cakes which were very delicious. I just thought they werw a bit small for the price of them. I also has the filet which was cooked perfectly. The place is a bit pricey but they food was very tasty. I also think they could "update" the place. It's very outdated looking inside.
We celebrated our mother’s birthday and everything was outstanding. From the service to the food and atmosphere- no complaints at all. It was very busy but our server, Jeffrey, was friendly and attentive.
This is our favorite restaurant for any type of celebration.
Had a gift card. Dinning for two on our anniversary. Meals were outstanding. Drinks from the bar were outstanding. Upon paying with our gift card, we had about $9.00 balance. Waitress placed gift card close to the end of the table. Before my wife and I got up to leave, someone helped themselves and took our gift card. .? ! Kind of a disappointing end to a good night..
Great place to get a nice steak or seafood dish and impress a date a little. The staff is trained to talk a certain way and create an atmosphere that is uppity for what you pay. Always a nice treat, would recommend filet and crab cakes. only one draw back is they are difficult to get reservation same day and almost can never be a walk in, and don't take Visa gift cards.
We drive up from Rio Grande at least once a year for our Anniversary dinner. This year I was given a gift certificate for my Birthday. The Franklinville Inn is my favorite All Time restaurant. The food is always exquisite the service is impeccable and the atmosphere is quaint.
A "GOLDEN" DNING EXPERIENCE...WHAT DID YOU SAY?
My observation is that most people eating at The Franklinville Inn are there for a special occasion, as were we. The place has class, even if many patrons are dressed, to put it nicely, casually. The food was as one would expect, given the $$$$ pricing. Colossal crab appetizer was mouth-wateringly delicious. Cajun Chicken Corn Chowder had just the right touch of spice. Twin lobster tails seemed larger than last visit, were done perfectly, and not a morsel was left behind. Filet Tips Oscar was thinly-sliced, perfectly medium rare filet, covered with lump crab, topped with Hollandaise Sauce, and served over asparagus spears. Delightful. Desserts were the Inn's famous rice pudding (not on the menu), which has never disappointed this diner, and the bountiful apple pie, accompanied by four hefty scoops of vanilla ice cream. This dessert is enough for two or three. Service by Jeffery was impeccable. One caveat; if you want quiet dining, make a special request along with your reservation. We were seated in a room with two tables of six and one of seven, so quiet conversation was out of the question. Still, the experience was memorable, in a good way.
Very pleasantly surprised at how nice the Inn was and how good the food was too. My husband and I were very pleased with how good the service was, although it occurred to me that maybe it was that good because we let them know that it was our first time there, and perhaps, they wanted to be sure to impress us. We do hope to go there again, so time will tell. It was definitely worth our time and money for a first time.
