Frankie's Italian Kitchen & Bar
We took the lasagna and it was good but expected that it would be more tasty!
The staff was very nice!
The server was great but got a little busy and waited a bit for our bill.
Wanted to try something new and came across this restaurant. Disappointed to say the least. Table service was painfully slow. What I ordered was a Cobb salad. What a disgrace. I missed taking a pic. To describe, half an iceberg lettuce cut into 4x 1/4’s and laid out as it sounds. Less than half of an avocado, maybe 2 tablespoons of cold bacon bits and a 1/4 cup of chicken bites that was pan fried.
And that’s it. How’s does that sound?
Oh, it’s in a hotel.
You would expect with so many choices in Vancouver, every establishment would step up their game.
Maybe it was an off day for the kitchen and the wait staff.
I always give establishments a 2nd chance before dropping off any lists.
Maybe one day, I’ll return. But can say not in the near future
We have been to Frankie's before and we were not dissapointed. Food was excellent, lasagna and seafood linguini, and the service was as usual very good. The noise level was very high but we forgot that it was a BC Lions game that evening. Once the game attendees slowly drifted out to the stadium (which is right across the street) the ambiance was much better. Definitely will return for another special occasion.
Food and service was great.
Noisiest restaurant ever. Convenient location for a pre-game dinner, but the experience was just adequate. Chicken Linguini was actually Chicken Spaghetti. Guess the chef didn't think guests were sophisticated enough to be able to tell the difference between flat and round pasta. Service was efficient, but the male server should drop the sarcasm which wore thin quickly - seemed to be more for his own amusement than ours. Oh, have I already mentioned that it was the noisiest restaurant ever?? It's funny how our tastebuds can't kick in when our ears are numb.
Food quantity is so little and the price is too expensive. Online the prices appear to be cheaper but not in person. My friend got a spoon and knife that wasn’t washed properly.
Had a early reservation before Elton-John concert and arrived a few minutes early. The hostess was indifferent and told us to just sit and wait until the table was ready.l although there were several tables empty. However once seated our waitress was lovely and inquired if we were going to the concert the service was great the food was good. The tomato and burrata salad was divine. The salmon was overcooked and under seasoned. Overall it was good for a quick dinner before a dinner
First time there and we have a great time. Food was delicious, and our server was fantastic! Definately will go back again, especially if I am attending a show at BC Place or Rogers Arena.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Close to al the event venues!
Nice surprise to find such a good restaurant right in our hotel; so convenient!
Liked our waiter a lot too.
We liked it so much that we dropped by after our concert for a couple drinks.
Everything about Frankie’s was delightful. The restaurant is lovely, the service superb and the food just delicious.
It was our anniversary. We were treated very well and were made to feel special. I would whole heartedly recommend this restaurant. My husband is Italian and said it was one of the best lasagnas he has ever had !
We were made to feel like an inconvenience. We arrived early and asked if there was room for us to sit at the bar. There want so we asked the manager if we could go next door (part of the same restaurant) he replied “if they even let you in but I dbout it”. We left and came back a few minutes later and noticed they were now seating people on their patio for “drinks only” we asked to sit out there until our table was ready and he said “ya but not now, we have lots of people coming”. We said no problem as they were busy. They forgot about us so we asked again. They took us outside and then we were told they gave away our table inside as they thought we were eating out there! They offered to buy us a drink. Then they came back about 15 minutes later and offered us a table and stated “we can move you inside but then your free drink goes away”. The manager did not apologize or come out to speak to us at all. He was very dismissive and seemed to not know how to handle a busy restaurant at all. The food was surprisingly sub par as we have been here in the past and it was amazing. Also, I had to get up from the table to ask for another drink as I was sitting with an empty glass for close to 10min. Is there new management? Will not return or recommend at all.
Our table of eight enjoyed our meal. Food and service were excellent. The only downside was the size of our round table, it was very big and the restaurant was very loud, so it was very difficult to hear anyone other than the person on each side of you.
It was a great experience, wonderful food, and great service
Our server was excellent. Food great and we were ideally located so close to Roger’s arena before the concert. Definitely going back.
Very noisy, so it made it hard to talk, except to the person next to you. Also, the special was presented as having Brussels and it didn’t, which was disappointing
Food was superb, particularly our starters (calamari, prawns, meatballs, and clams). Staff were friendly and attentive. Great ambience. We had our four kids (aged 10-15) and they all had a good time. Would definitely recommend.
We got there and the manager said: “I was calling to let you know we don’t have a table for you”. I guess our table was given to someone else. We booked the table 30minutes before we arrived. He asked us to wait 10 minutes. There were a few tables free, but not cleaned. We waited 45 minutes for them to clean a table. They had so many staff running around with no clear direction given to clean the table. The manager was just behind his iPad and did not lift a finger to help his staff setup a table. He went to a staff birthday party in the back where he preferred to spend time. Terrible experience. The waiter was very good. The manager and staff should trained properly. Will never go back there.
The waitress who served me and my friend did an excellent job! Food was just fine.
Great food. Great service. Great evening.
Food was very good but we found the restaurant very noisy.
Best steak salad ever! Service is excellent. However, if you want a quiet environment this isn't it. Acoustics are poor, too many hard surfaces. Makes conversation difficult and other table conversations are audible.
Has been our "go to" place but they dropped the ball on our last visit. Will likely be our last visit too.
The service was slow but after our order was placed suddenly the food came out like 10 min later. My filet mignon was cool but thank goodness for the wine reduction for flavor. My potatoes au gratin were raw & cold. The manager was understanding. After paying $100 bill, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Can't see going back.
Birthday and lions game
I had chicken Marcella. It was delicious. I never had chicken Marcella like that. Lots of mushrooms , not dry. The vegetables very fresh. The minestrone soup was delicious. The service was very efficient. He was s good waiter. We are on vacation and enjoyed everything
The service was fantastic. 4 people had pasta which was good but just warm and lacked sauce Two of us had the lamp shank, it required seasoning and was cold. The Risotto was dry, cold and also lacked flavor. It's a shame as the food use to be like the service 5 out of 5.
Great food and very attentive service. The fish special was fabulous. Noise level a bit high would be my only criticism...
I enjoyed the special linguine with prawns, scallops and zucchini, I thought the lasagne was ordinary. We were outside on the deck and I finally had to ask the concierge of the hotel next door to get the busses that were idling their Diesel engines to turn them off. When they did, everyone on the deck clapped for me and we were all satisfied that the fumes and loudness were no longer ruining the atmosphere outside.
I have enjoyed Frankie's in Chilliwack (2 places) for lots of special occasions and continue to enjoy Frankies, also in Vancouver. This was a birthday celebration evening so excellent company, excellent food and excellent venue topped off with a happy birthday dessert. A most enjoyable evening.
My experience at Frankie's was great. Our server was very friendly, and very welcoming. To start we had their house made focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and polenta fries. Their focaccia was great, and you're welcome to ask for more. The polenta fries were done very well, crispy exterior yet fluffy inside. For my friend's main she had the risotto, and I had the rigatoni. The risotto was very good. My rigatoni was very chewy, but the restaurant corrected it and brought me another and it was much better. Our dinner was even better with dessert given to us on-the-house for my birthday.
Every dish was delicious and service was great. We had the scampi pasta and the pesto gnocchi. Those were amazing !
Very good Italian food for a low price.
Staff was friendly.
Excellent place to go before an event at BC Place!
After our first visit we ended up going there in total 3 times during our stay in Vancouver for lunch and dinner, and we found it reliable and a great place to eat. Menu was such that on each occasion we were able to try a different dish and all were well prepared and tasty.
Great food, portion sizes were more than adequate, service from the host was very welcoming and comfortable and our waitress Francia was excellent and made sure we enjoyed our experience all the way.
We visited Vancouver (beautiful city!) for the first time in August 2019. Frankie's was recommended by our hotel. The food was good (I had lasagna, my wife had seafood tagliatelle), although the pasta was a little chewy. We had a lovely server and the prices were good. I would recommend Frankie's for anyone looking for good Italian food, reasonably priced.
