It took one hour from the time we were seated until the food arrived. Pasta was OK but the veal Milanese was burned. There was a $6.75 extra charge for using a credit card which was never disclosed to us. They refused to accept my personal check and eliminate the $6.75 charge. Place is small, crowded and very noisy. The bathroom is dirty and needs a fresh coat of paint. DONT GO
Can't beat the food. The veal marsala - so good! The salad was fresh with a wonderful light dressing.
We loved Frankie’s. We spent New Year’s Eve there.
It was like a family party. Food was amazing as was the service. We’ll be back.
South Phila and Phila has some of the best Italian restaurants on the planet. I know I have eaten Italian all over the US and abroad including Italy. Frankie’s ranks up with the best. Certainly among the Best in the Philly area. A little piece of genuine South Philly exceptional Italian food located in Berwyn,Pa just up the road from Villanova University. When I am in the mood for Italian my first go to is this BYOB GENUINE South Philly restaurant. When one considers value and quality this should be at the top of your list.
We've noticed over the last year that Fellini's has cut down on their portion sizes. Their generous portions/cost of meals was one of the biggest compliments (next to, of course, the taste of the food) within the community. The latest talk, however, is that the size portions have significantly decreased. :(
Frankie’s never disappoints. This was our first time ever eating out on Christmas Eve and we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was festive and joyous, the food delicious.
This may be our new family tradition.
When I went to reserve a table for 6, many different time slots were available. I made a 7:30 reservation and we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Unfortunately there is no comfortable place to wait so we were standing right inside the doorway.
The food was mediocre at best. The calamari was chewy. The sauce for the veal detracted from the dish. The best dish was the ravioli with butter sauce and parmigiana cheese. And there was a long wait between the appetizers and entrees.
Service was spotty. Second time there. Food was decent. Food was very late. Said they would give us a free desert because of the lateness and charged us for the desert anyway. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great as it was the first time. Kind of pushing us out the door because many people were waiting. Felt the tension of that.
This is a definite go to spot for locals - great food great service and a hands on owner that makes sure that every dish that does out meets his high standards. A BYOB with awesome Italian food. The veal parma w pasta is my favorite. My wife loves their ravioli. The servers are the nicest folks and very attentive. It is a small place so reservations are recommended but not required. True Italian food prepares with love - can’t go wrong!!
Food is very good but pricey compared to what it was in past. Place is small and needs to be updated. Bathroom needs to be remodeled. WAWA bathrooms are much better
Frankie’s is never a miss in my book. Beautiful, delicious homemade Italian food in a lively atmosphere. If you’re looking for a quiet romantic dinner best to come during the week or an early dinner. Personally I love the energy and the food can’t be beat!!
Excellent food, fun atmosphere. Our part enjoyed the singer!
I always have a great time at Frankie’s. Everything is delicious and the people are great.
Chicken and veal dishes were phenomenal. I also recommend the roasted peppers appetizer which goes great with their crusty bread and the grated Parmesan which resides on your table- don’t have to ask for it.
I took my wife here for her birthday. The menu was huge and we were in the mood for authentic Italian. The place is small and seating is very tight. It’s also very loud. The service was very slow. We didn’t have our order taken for about 20 minutes and it was more than 45 minutes before we got our appatizers. Dinner was after about an hour and a half. The food was just ok. We ordered roasted peppers and some of the peppers were so hot they were inedible. That might be some people’s thing but they should advise as to how hot they really are. I had fettuccine Alfredo. The sauce was very oily/watery. Not thick and creamy like it should be. I kept adding grated parm to it until it got thicker. The waitress was very nice though. But between the slow service, very average food, and loud and tight ambiance, we won’t be going back.
We have driven by Fellini Cafe so many times and heard good things about the food so we decided to stop in for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was busy, tables are tight, but everyone looked like they were having fun and enjoying their food. Our server was very sweet and thoughtful, the food was great, and they had a vocalist doing italian songs and carols which made the atmosphere more fun and festive. The cannoli’s were yummy too!!!!
Always a great meal!! Highly recommended if you want a true Italian meal. We love the staff!!
The Caesar salad is the best! It gets very crowded and the tables are very close and very noisy.
Hi excellent! Thanks for a great experience!
My wife and I love eating at Frankie‘s! It is always lively and I love the field! The food is super! We have never had a bad meal there!
It is always a pleasure to have dinner at Fellini's in Berwyn. Great food - large portions. It iis my favorite local restaurant in Berwyn.
We hadn’t been to Fellini’s in many years. Due to a kitchen renovation in progress, we decided to try it again. We were disappointed. The prices of the pasta are no longer reasonable for a place with no atmosphere and tables so close together. The food is plentiful but it’s nothing special. The menu is huge but we actually prefer a smaller menu with more care given to the dishes. We won’t be back.
I've eaten at Frankie's many times and it's always really good. My waitress this evening was Lisa who just makes me feel at home. I love the food at Frankie's Fellini Cafe, it's my kind of food. The only thing I wish was different would be more room. It's a very small room and the tables are close together. However with that said, the staff and the great food make up for any shortcomings in the size of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you like good Italian food, just like South Philly. Love it...
Food is always excellent.
Great local Italian cuisine. Frankie and his staff always treat us like family. If you go, be sure to have a fresh made cannoli for dessert.
Great Italian food. Great service. Great experience.
Great family friendly restaurant. Great pasta dishes and awesome desserts!
We’re a long time customer of Frankie’s. Came in for an early dinner Friday night and was placed at a table for two that was so close to tables on either side that we had to slide our table over to the table next to us to get in. We asked for a four-top for a bit more room and were told they were booked for the evening, however when we left an hour later over half the four-tops were empty. No a way to treat a long standing customer.
We arrived at 7, sat, sat, sat, sat, & sat. We think our order got lost in the mayhem of the night. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic that our dinner was so late. It finally arrived and there was a slight mixup but ok. Thank you.
Absolutely delicious & great service. Worth the noise. Frankie’s is the best Fellini. Never had a bad meal.
Gnocchi primavera and gnocchi gorgonzola were wonderful. Burrata salad had a huge amount of garlic. Ice cream was like some inexpensive one from supermarket. Espresso was just a very strong slightly burned coffee - no foam whatsoever. The room was very cold even though small and full of people. If you live nearby it makes sense to order a take-out, which many people did. We won’t be back, though.
We found Frankie's about 2 months ago and have been there 6 times since. The food is fabulous. So fresh and authentic Italian cuisine. It is a BYOB which is a bonus,
You know you are in a special place when waiting briefly to get seated you peer in and see a small, cramped, crowded and buzzing restaurant. It is not a place for leisurely dining the wait staff is courteous but talking fast and moving fast so you quickly sense get ready to order quickly. Excellent southern Italian fare at fair prices, the place is an institution go and enjoy.
Excellent! Very fresh and homemade- not that heated up frozen crap in most restaurants. Will come again!
Frankie's never disappoints. A neighborhood gem where the veal chop is second to none, the meatball salad is unparalleled, the lasagna in outstanding, and I discovered my new favorite this visit, the Bronzino. BYOB and don't leave without a cannoli.
We used to love this place - very authentic Italian food.
However, last time the service was rude (also and in particular to kids) and even though they clearly write on the menu that they have gluten free pasta - they did not. But instead of apologizing and trying to accommodate they just turned around and walked away. Very disappointing...
Always have a great meal here, best Italian food in town!
awesome dinner as usual...food is always great and the service perfect.
We enjoy coming back and have made Frankie's part of our regular dining circuit.
This noisy, crowded, authentic bistro continues to be a favorite for locals. The food is consistently good and the portions are generous. The servers make you feel like family. Frankie is ever present, making sure all goes smoothly. And it's a BYO! Life is good!
