I can’t imagine finding a better dining experience in Roanoke. Top notch all around! Thanks!!
It was as definitely a great experience...and to be in a small town like Roanoke, a real gem nothing bad to say or complain about
When looking for a special place to eat this is my number one pick. Always awesome
I am a long-time customer of FRANKIE Rowlands. I’ve always understood paying a premium price for their service and food quality. On my last visit, I ordered the Chilean sea bass for $37 which had no flavor and was undercooked. In retrospect, I probably should’ve sent it back to the kitchen or had taken off my bill but I’m not one to usually complain. So with all that said $175 for dinner with 2 glasses of wine for both my wife and I was not a very good value and was not a good food experience.
Perfect experience in every way. Best steak I’ve ever had. Will be back in the very near future.
Excellent food and service. Our server was great and knew everything on the menu!
Took the family there to celebrate and had a great meal and the service was excellent. Thank you!
Great steaks and wonderful service. Top steakhouse America, a cut above a Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s, or hyde Park.
Love the place for it's outstanding service and excellent meats. Pure Steakhouse experience. I only question the bread choice . I know it has been the same for a long time but I appreciate a more interesting choice such as a nice crusty hot roll or something along those lines. Does not take away from the food experience however.
Excellent service and food. This is everything you would expect from a high end steak place. Lot's of other choices on the menu if steak is not your thing. This place knows how to cook a steak.
For milestones and special meals, Frankie Roland’s is the perfect spot in Downtown Roanoke. My wife and I love the food and service. We dine there about 3-4 times a year and it never disappoints. The steaks are extraordinary and the meal is always an enjoyable experience. If it were to cost a little less, we might visit even more, but I think it is a reasonable value for exceptional quality. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for and Frankie Roland’s holds up their end of that bargain. This place does Roanoke proud. I’m hungry again just writing this review :)
We have always loved Frankie's , but on this occasion everyone totally dropped the ball After the first 10-15 minutes with drinks and apps, we almost never saw a server and it took almost an hour and a half to receive our food. Mistake in the kitchen we were told, but that's no excuse for terrible service. Cannot tell you how disappointed we were.
From the food to the exceptional service from our waitress Candace, what a perfect evening. We’ll be back soon.
Our fried oyster Rockefeller was sent back. Spinach inside was cold. Asparagus was cold. My Chilean sea bass was good but the combination of putting it over cold gazpacho that looked like bright green slime was not enticing to eat nor did the flavors compliment each other. My sister asked for prime rib medium well and it came out rare. Just on the verge of blood coming out. I opted not to get steak as last 3 times I’ve had steak there my steak was too salty to eat. I now can’t get seafood. Ugh!
We love dining here but it was Mother's Day and I ordered the filet and I asked for it Medium Well and it was very medium rare. I started to eat my sides so I didn't want to wait forever for my steak to come back and so I took it home and finished cooking it. Very disappointed for the cost.
The food is very good but if you have even a slight liking of martinis, this is the place to go. They have over 60 martinis on their menu and based on the few I tried, they are all great. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side, so it's best suited for a special occasion/date than your weekly dining spot. Worth it though. Great staff as well.
Always a great meal. Front of back room depends on noise level but the best restaurant I have EVER eaten at and we are “foodies”
We dined for a very special birthday. I asked for a quiet corner table or both for 2 and the hostess seated us at a huge center table for 4. The oysters on a half were perfect, however the entree and sides were nothing special. Maybe it was an off night for the chef. Our server was very knowledgeable and professional.
Very Nice place for a special or romantic dinner. The service is great with all servers working together in a well organized manner. The filet my wife got would melt in your mouth and the strip steak was very tasty. Definitely try the jumbo lump crab dip appetizer. It was extraordinary. Be main entree was a little slow coming out, but the waitress gave us each a desert for free due to the longer wait. Be prepared to spend a bit more here than your everyday steakhouse, but the quality is worth it. They also have an extensive martini list. We tried the mudslide, strawberry cheesecake, and banana split martinis. They were all tasty. Would definitely come back for a special occasion.
Excellent as usual!
The service was excellent, but the food was not worth the price. However, they did attempt to fix the issues that we had with the food, but the overall experience just was not good. We were very disappointed. We may try again one day. Honestly, I may have had too high of expectations from the associated hype that they receive.
Took my wife to dinner for our anniversary and it was great. From the pineapple martinis to the steaks to the lobster, everything is phenomenal. Staff is very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Wonderful atmosphere.
Very elegant setting, excellent service, outstanding food and bar, meets the standards for fine dining and special occasions.
The food was extremely tasty, just the right temperature, and served in a timely manner. The staff was helpful in answering questions, asking if anything else was needed, but done in a way that did not interrupt our conversation.
A terrific experience!
Steak and appetizers were very very good.
The food was great and we both loved our steaks. Ample portions with your sides. Perfect place for a romantic evening.
First time there for anniversary dinner. Hands down best steak ever!! We only ordered one side as it was family style and enough for two. Wait staff very pleasant and attentive. I would, and will recommend and will visit again.
Ordered app which never appeared. Ordered 2 filets, both med rare. 1 came out med well. Sent back and came out rare. Hollandaise and bernaise were awful. Tasted like nothing. French martini had no taste. So loud we couldn’t have a conversation. Mashed potatoes weee excellent. Flavor of steak was very good
Having been here multiple times with both family and friends, I can honestly say that this restaurant is top-tier for Roanoke eatery, but nowhere near an actual fine dining establishment. We started with a couple of martinis at the bar as we usually do, and then got seated in the front dining room. Lindsey(spelling?) is extremely nice and very knowledgable every time we come in. How she hasn't won best bartender in Roanoke is truly beyond me. Next we were seated in the front dining room, and it was actually pleasant as it must have been a slow hour because we could actually hear each other talk. Service, in terms of the wait staff, was absolutely impeccable. It was as if they could read each other's minds and automatically knew what someone needed without actually saying it. On the other hand, the manager on duty for the night was very rude to the staff(seems to be a normal occurrence--we just can't believe he gets away with some of the stuff he says to them) and looked red-faced/angry every time we saw him throughout our experience, which wasn't very many times. My husband and I sometimes don't even know if a manager is actually working most nights because its a rare sight to actually see him walk through the dining room. Our steak was undercooked, and per the usual, the staff had to bring it out to me. Shouldn't that be the manager's responsibility? Even the manager at Texas Roadhouse brings our food back out when there are mistakes. He never came and asked how everything was, and as a matter of fact, we have ever seen him approach a table and ask how things were in the 7 years we've been coming here. To finish on a positive note, the Creme Brulee is to die for! We overhead a young gentleman recommended it to his table and thought we'd give it a try; definitely the right choice! We did overhear one waitress tell a waiter that although they advertise all of their steaks are Certified Angus Beef Prime, only 2 steaks on the menu are actually Prime. Sounded shady.
I recommend Frankie Rowland's to anyone for a date night or just everyday dining. The service is perfect and the ingredients are beyond description. So glad the Roanoke area has an upscale establishment to frequent.
The food was excellent. The service was great, kudos to Carson, our server. Our first, but not last visit.
Went for my 65th Birthday. Was pleasantly surprised by the menu flexibility. Server was knowledgeable about food and an excellent communicator. Salad and entrees were superb. My only critique was the bread, which tasted stale and didn't have much bite. Complimentary birthday dessert was a nice touch. A very satisfying experience
I've been a single mom most of my life so money is tight but once a year I've always taken my kids to whatever restaurant they wanted and this year my son wanted Frankie's. Brianna was our server and she was superb!!! Service, food, presentation, ambience everything was perfect as always. We started with oysters on the half shell, lobster bisque, my son ordered lamb chops with scallops and I had the filet with lobster special with a lovely pairing of Cabernet. Brianna surprised us with a decadent creme brulee to finish the meal. It's not a place I can afford but worth every penny for the experience and exceptional food and service! Thanks for a wonderful evening!!!!
I was seated promptly and the service was good. Menu is typical steak house fare; every item is a la carte. I had a Caesar salad, NY strip, and a air gratin potatoes. Nothing about this meal was memorable other than the steak was over salted. Two bites and I was done. It’s a shame that such a fine cut of meat was ruined in this way.
The food is out of this world delicious! Service is impeccable! Went for a girls night out! Wine, martinis and a delicious meal!
Dinner was excellent ! Everything from the lump crab dip appetizer, salad with blue cheese and bacon dressing and our entrees; lobster and filet was over the top outstanding. Joey our waiter was excellent and very attentive to us during dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed every facet of our meal and this establishment.
Steaks are always cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts! Definitely opt for the monster baked potato or cottage fries. The mashed potatoes are definitely not worth the calories. Lackluster in flavor with a not so appetizing texture. Wine selection is great and the service is always excellent.
This is our 4th time dining here and the service is always wonderful. If you wanna take your special lady to a super sexy romantic spot with amazing food and drinks then this is the place for you. I would strongly recommend Frankie Rowland’s and we will be back soon
Exceptional food and service! I had the filet and my husband had the cowboy steak and they were cooked to perfection.
Jennifer,Cait, and other servers were excellent. Food is great. This time, we enjoyed the bar as well. Bartenders were so nice. Everything was great..made for a fun night. The seafood in sherry cream sauce remains a favorite and the Wagyu is delish.
But Frankie, once again, the hostess could use some training in hospitality. Thank goodness bartenders and wait staff make up for it.
