Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse - Rye Ratings and Reviews
I brought my son to this restaurant on recommendation from a friend. It was my sons 18th birthday. I thought they would make a whole fanfare, maybe even a well decorated plate with a tiny cupcake. What we got was a scrape of very iced over freezer burned ice cream and someone streaked some chocolate over it and stuck a candle. The presentation was atrocious. Even being ice cream the presentation was poor. The steaks were good; the Mac and cheese was very thin and runny.
Overall steaks were good. Service was mediocre at best. Wouldn’t go back. For the previous reviews and the cost I expected so much more.
My wife and I booked an early dinner on a Saturday night and were the second couple to be seated. We had a salad and oysters to start and shared a steak and lobster with a few sides. The restaurant soon filled up but our service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was truly outstanding and although the bill was more than the tab for our usual Saturday night dinners it was worth every penny. We will be back soon,
We shared a Porterhouse for 3 and it was outstanding. We even were able to have it Medium and Medium Rare! The Tomato & Mozzarella was delicious. Atmosphere is beautiful. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Just a great place. Look forward to returning again soon.
Strike three. Went there with my two daughters on Monday at 6pm to give it one more try. Previous two times steak and sides came out lukewarm. So this time I specifically told the waiter actually begged the waiter to please make sure the steak comes out sizzling. Nope.....lukewarm again. The owners/chefs should head to Benjamins Steakhouse in Hartsdale or Lenny’s in Larchmont to take a lesson. Worst part is the place was empty. Not sure how you screw that up. Sent the steak back to have it come back hot and while we waited had the sides which of course were lukewarm but we were starving so we ate them. Re-heated steak is just not that good. And the porterhouse for three is a complete ripoff....way too small. $250 plus tip for the three of us......really disappointed.
Have not been to this restaurant in many years. Last time the food and service were off. This time, the food was very good, caesar salad for two of us was excellent, cold, crisp and great parm slice on top, steak cooked perfectly, onion rings great, truffle fries not hot enough..but the service was bad. Get some more servers, our server was obviously over worked. It took many attempts to get her attention to order a bottle of wine, and forgotten , and literally thrown down on the table in front of me, and then tried to get us to finish the bottle much too quickly. Water had to be begged for. I know it's the holiday season, but for these prices, please hire more help.
Frankie & Johnnie's continues to be one of the top places in Westchester for my money... great ambiance, a warm and welcoming staff, a teffiiric wine list, outstanding steaks and all around well prepared food... I have had guests order fish and they are just has happy. This is a place that should be on your short list.
Food was wonderful. Only disappointment is that I had notified that it was my husbands birthday. Nothing happened. No singing, no dessert, nothing. When I asked the hostess about that she said it was her fault and would do better the next time. Hardly an apology for a $200+ dinner for two.
According to the hostess, my reservation was for 2 people, not 4. Therefore, I had to wait
over 1/2 for a table. The table was not a table I would ordinarily accept, but the restaurant was full. I am sure if they had 4 not 2 people the table I was given would have been the same.
Saturday night is not a good night to judge a restaurant. I frequently dine at Frankie & Johnnnie's and know the owner very well. The service was slow, but he made up for it.
Please note above that this reservation WAS for 4, not 2 people.
We went on restaurant week and ordered off of the special menu. I thought the portions were meager, the choices limited and very disappointing. We go often and generally find the food good, so if they can't keep up their high standard during restaurant week, they should not participate!
We went for Restaurant Week. In front of the Restaurant Week Menu there was a page that said Daily Specials with no prices. It seemed to be for Restaurant Week. We ordered dinner and ate.
I asked for the check and saw I was being charged ala carte prices. I said to the waiter this is Restaurant Week. For the first time he said you ordered Daily Specials. I said there were no prices it appeared they were for Restaurant Week. He said you should have asked. Really?
This is a common occurrence in this place of screwing customers. We were here awhile ago and my wife was buying dinner. She gave the server her credit card then asked me to check the bill. They had charged our party of 4 for things we didn't order. We had to get the manager involved to get it corrected.
Now we have this situation the other day where the waiter tells me I should have asked.
So i paid $90 just for 2 average steaks instead of less than that for 2 full dinners.
We will NEVER go back here again.
You will just take some friendly advice and be VERY careful and check your bill. The errors they make are ALWAYS in their favor!
We were very pleased with our night out at Frankie &Johnnie's. Great place for a special occasion. The food was delicious, including desert ( I had the bread pudding which was to die for). The service was great. Some steakhouses are snobby, not here. The staff was so warm and friendly, I loved it. It was expensive, but we'll be back!
Won’t be going back here again. Terrible experience. Tuesday night took my wife here for our anniversary. Who knew there would be a crowd of guys roaring at a baseball game and thumping the bar throughout. Left early - couldn’t hear ourselves think. Would have been quieter in a noisy sports bar. Awful. If you guys want to be a sports bar that’s fine but completely unacceptable for a restaurant.
