Poor experience for a so called top notch steakhouse. We ordered a tomahawk steak medium rare. The steak came raw!!! Virtually uncooked & uneatable. How can a chef in a steakhouse not know the difference between temperatures? How can a steakhouse chef let the steak go out raw? How can a chef work a Saturday night in NYC & not know what they are doing. We will never go back.
Prime rib outstanding, cooked perfect.
First dish, calamari and octopus very tasty and tender.
Wine little expensive...
Wonderful service, nice steakhouse ambiance. Very accommodating
We went to this restaurant because it was across the street from where we were staying. Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Ambience was amazing. We will definitely go back to matter where we are staying. It was definitely our best meal all week.
Service was great! They made me a custom drink which was excellent. I also had a frisée salad which was delicious. The steak was ok along with the potatoes. I was expecting a little more from this restaurant. It wasn’t bad by any means, but nothing I would recommend to a friend especially for the price.
Good meal, very pricey.
Was going to Delmonicos but Sean our Bartender at The Hilton talked us out of it and to try Frankie & Johnie’s. Excellent decision. Great vibe, staff was on it and steaks were exceptional. Not a bone in guy but it was an exceptional piece of meat. It’s worth a visit!
Quiet intimate dining space, wonderful steaks. Lobster bisque was ok, grilled octopus was very good.
The food was awesome and the ambiance wonderful. We could actually hear one another and that made for a wonderful evening out. We will definitely return. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable.
Ordered filet mignon special and it was delicious.
Rib eye steak was under seasoned and not very tender. Service was good
The restaurant was highly recommended by Marriott which is across the street. Our waiter was nice enough but a little aloof. I ordered a Cosmo which was way too sweet and sent it back. The waiter said "I can fix it". He brought it back a little less sweet and not cold. He never asked if it was ok. I ordered an 8 ounce fillet for my entree and got a fillet that was 5 ounces at best. The steak was cooked the way I ordered it and my husbands T bone was also cooked as he ordered. We expect big food bills when we eat in NYC but we also expect the service and the food to be really good. We did not have a good experience at Frankie and Johnnie's.
Cozy place, with outstanding food and service. The food was precise in every aspect. We had the special powerhouse for two, it was exceptional.
As always a wonderful dinner experience in one of the old school steak houses in the city.
Amazing service, true old school NYC steakhouse! Service was amazing, classy, and attentive. Get the lobster ravioli even if you don’t like lobster!
The restaurant was very nice, I think our waiter was having an off night which made our experience not as good as what some other tables appeared to be experiencing. The waiter asked us if we wanted tap or bottled, but never asked us for our drink order. Next time he came back was to ask us if we were ready to order our meal. Again no drink order request so we finally asked for drinks. I order the sea bass and although it was cooked perfectly, we both thought the sauce was way to heavy for sea bass. After our plates were taken away it was a good 10 minutes before he came back to ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee and we had to ask for the dessert menu. I'm attributing it to an off night for our waiter as every other waiter in the room was either checking in regularly, laughing and interacting with their guests.
Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere. What more can one say?
The jazz music on Friday night all during dinner was fabulous and you could still carry on a conversation. What a great night!
The food, atmosphere, service was excellent!!!! I will go again!
This is the perfect place for a business dinner. The noise level was lower than most and allowed for productive business conversations. The food was also fantastic. The bone in ribeye was one of the best I've had. I will most definitely come back.
Very Good would definitly return a little pricey but it is nyc
You don't need noise and pretension to enjoy an excellent steak. The private club atmosphere has made this a go-to comfort zone in midtown if your conversation - either business or personal - is important part of the reason you're dining out.
I have dined in this establishment for at least 5 years now and I have yet to be disappointed. I was pleasantly greeted by the hostess, Maria and seated promptly. I recommend this place for a beautiful romantic date night or just dinner with friends under dim lights. Thanks again. :)
Food: perfect. Our party of four all ordered filet mignons, all at different temperatures. Everyone was extremely pleased. Potatoes au gratin were a big hit side dish.
Atmosphere: perfect. Feels like a private club. Tables are spaced so that the only conversation you will hear is your own table's conversation.
Service: perfect. Waitstaff is there when you need them, but not intrusive. Our waiter took our entire order without writing anything down, and delivered everyone's dinner flawlessly.
Price: Not cheap, but delivered everything I expected from a high-priced NYC restaurant.
This was our Restaurant Week choice. We found it odd that the Surf & Turf entree item differed from both locations, and the price was equal. Also, the portion sizes were a bit subpar (6 oz steak with 1 butterflied shrimp) considering the price. We did not feel the price warranted the value of the meal.
Sat downstairs in the bar lounge and bartender/waiter was accommodating (we were pressed for time) and efficient. Good mixed cocktails and excellent food. Consistently good steak and on this day I had the pork chop special.
Although quite pricey, this restaurant is wonderful. We had the best service, and the food was terrific. Drinks were as expensive as our PreFixe meal, though - lol.
Felt like an old world steakhouse which I liked. The service was ok. Occasionally our server disappeared, but eventually he did return. My daughter ordered a tomato and onion salad and the burger with no cheese, and of course it was delivered with cheese. Sent it back and the next burger came out was small and over cooked. My second daughter ordered a Caesar salad and the French onion soup, also without cheese. Salad was good, but she said the soup was super sweet. I ordered a tomato onion salad. And a steak. My meal was perfect.
Wonderful restaurant with excellent food. We were there during restaurant week and the specials were reasonably priced. Highly recommend!
I went to Frankie and Johnnie's Steakhouse with a work colleague during Restaurant Week. I let our waiter know I needed to get to Penn Station by 7:00. We had a 5:30 reservation. We had ample time to enjoy the steak and shrimp entree, our appetizers and even dessert. Everything was excellent! I'll definitely return!
Wonderful service in convenient location. Spacious table and moderate noise to make for easy conversation without it being too quiet. the ribeye steak was prepared exactly as requested and had a lot of flavor. the zucchini fries had very little flavor.
Great place. We celebrated our 25th anniversary here and had a great experience.
Sal is the consummate host. Perfect service every time, not to mention the absolutely fantastic meal... Every time!
Wonderful ambiance! blast from the past old school music and great service! thoroughly enjoyed it!
We’ve had a hard time finding a quieter place in Manhattan to have a delicious meal with our family. Just found it - Frankie and Johnny’s. Great location, great food, great atmosphere for sitting and talking for as long as you like with great food and professional but unobtrusive service. We will be back.
Servers and staff was great
I have to say it was pretty disappointing. We came over from the Pulse on a recommendation from the staff. The food was pretty good but I must say the main server Sal was pretty abrupt and bordered on rude. He rattled off the specials as if he was annoyed to do so. The ancillary staff were much more courteous. There were only 3 other tables seated when we walked in so it’s not like he was being stressed. We had been at Benjamin Prime the night before and the service was terrific. The food as I said was pretty good but higher priced than the Prime and the wine offerings significantly over priced. I have to say if you’re looking for a great meal and great service Benjamin Prime is a much better choice.
Perfect and delicious
Great food but save your money for the high pricing!
The food was very good, but the server was arrogant and rude. Will not go again.
Outstanding service, great ambiance, we had really nice evening there.
