Dated choices on the menu. Very overpriced.
Although we were the first table to be seated on a Saturday evening, the service was nonexistent , the ambience was absent, and our evening was overshadowed by a table of four seated across from us in a desolate restaurant whose loud and obnoxious conversation about their personal lives made it difficult to have a conversation. There were dozens of empty tables available. Beyond me as to the reasoning behind their seating arrangements.
The food was excellent, however there are many other steakhouses in NYC that we have enjoyed in the past and will patronize in the future that reflect our preferences in this price range as well as personal attention.
An old school steak house, wonderful service, steaks done to perfection.
Great service and even better food. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a “New York steakhouse” experience.
Sal was great.
We had a great time at Frankie and Johnnie's. The food was good and the bar selection was outstanding.
Reservations were easy to make. Once thru the door our reservation was instantly recognized and we were seated immediately.
We had a great waiter and a very attentive wait staff.
Our two dinners were outstanding. I had the Veal Chop and my wife had the Lobster Ravioli's. Both were great. I also had a bowl of Lobster bisque which was a perfect TEN.
I had a filet mignon Oscar (with lump crab meat) and it was amazing. F&J's is consistently great.
Wonderful experience. We enjoyed this restaurant very much. The service was exceptional, the atmosphere was warm & inviting, but the food was the star of the show!
Always top choice for business or personal.
Known for great steaks but fish was awesome as well.
Tried Frankie and Johnnie’s because it was across the street from the Marriott Pulse Hotel. We had a wonderful dinner and service. Veal chop was cooked perfectly and excellent flavor. My husbands lamb chop special was another gem. Save room for the molten lava cake. Would definitely go again.
Steak, Tuna and lamb were all great. The service was fair. Pasta dish was not good. Tomato and onion salad was not good. For the price there are much better steakhouse choices in the city.
Great food, great service. Enough said. Highly recommend Frankie & Johnnie’s Steakhouse
The food was great but unfortunately the service was terrible. Our glasses were never filled with water, we had to constantly flag another waiter for refills. Our waiter came with the menus once we were seated and we didnt see him again for about 20 minutes. The couple we were with ordered bernaisse sauce on the side with their steak which they did not receive. We asked for it again and still did not receive it.
Great steak, wine, and atmosphere. Service was outstanding. Perfect for special occasions.
The rooms are a little dank. Some glitz or maybe some whimsy could help. Steak for two was good--actually needed some salt. An okay steakhouse, but for this price, there are many that are better.
This restaurant fired on all cylinders tonight. Great friendly and are attentive yet unobtrusive service only surpassed by the quality of the food. Just s great experience.
The food was excellent. the steak I had was a Ribeye and it was cooked exactly the way i like and had great flavor and was soft and yet crispy outside. Execellent !!!my wife had the crab cakes and they were superb.
We went here for a romantic dinner date for our last night in the city. The food was delicious, we ordered steaks, au gratin potatoes and the broccoli. Dessert was fabulous! We read other reviews and took he recommendation of ordering key lime pie. It was perfect. We also ordered the chocolate molten cake and it was so good. Our table was right next to the fireplace that is upstairs so that was nice and cozy since it was 25 degrees and snowing outside. It was a little loud but we were also close to a table with some rambunctious guys. The only con I have is that it took a little longer for the wait staff to attend to things (water, take our order, clear plates) but it wasn’t enough of a con that I wouldn’t come back. Great place!
Although a steak house is not a place you go for peace and quiet, F&J was a bit too noisy - due mostly to a table for 6 right next to us. Had trouble holding a conversation. Otherwise, top notch.
Perfect pre-show meal: 8 oz. filet mignon perfectly cooked and juicy, fries, salad and a reasonable cabernet. Friendly hosts and wait staff. Any steak house that doesn't need to disguise its cuts of meat with rubs and sauces has my respect. Bravo!
Good food nice place enjoyed the experience...would go back again.
Not sure if we were there on a bad night since they were filming reality show about Ball Boys Basketball, but service was extremely slow and the $58 steak was not close to comparing with Ruth’s Chris or even the great meal we had across the street at Strand Bistro the following night. I would not recommend and would not return. Prices too high and service mediocre. Again, they may have been more concerned with the so-called “celebrities” in the house!
Good place for a steak and normal sides. If they take you upstairs be prepared for the noise level. Hard to have a conversation because of the hard surfaces and small dining area. Food is good, service dependable. Didn’t exceed nor underwhelm.
Good food, great service.
Great spot for get together for holiday lunch with business friends. Fireplace and holiday decorations just made it that much more special.
Very loud but the food and service were great
We just happened on it on our way to MSG and it was a great find! Lobster bisque was awesome and so was lobster ravioli and tail! Bartender was very personable.
Frankie and Johnnies has been around a long time, the food is good here. I just think with so many steakhouses now in the area to pick from it is not a first pick anymore.
Zu teuer für die Qualität, Klimaanlage zu kalt, unfreundliches Personal
We flew to NYC (from Atlanta, GA) for a fun weekend to get ourselves into the Holiday Spirit, and also to see a few Broadway Shows. We had heard of Frankie and Johnnie’s and we made reservations for dinner before we left Atlanta. We treated ourselves to several great meals over the weekend. Our meal at Frankie and Johnnie’s was the quintessential “New York Steak House Experience”. The ambiance was perfect, as was the food and the service. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience-especially immediately following our exceptional Broadway show: Hamilton. Thank you, Frankie and Johnnie’s, for such an upscale, classy evening. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
Trip to NYC & wanted to find good steakhouse. Daughter’s filet mignon was okay but not as good as other places we have ordered it at back home in MN. Too chewy & not melt in your mouth. I️ tried it because she did not finish it due to being chewy. I️ agree with her. I️ enjoyed the French onion soup. I️ did not really like the tomatoes with mozzarella either. Disappointing to my taste buds. Atmosphere was great! Wait staff wonderful! Paid too much though in my opinion for only one of us ordering steak. Meal for 2 (1 drink) & bill was $110. No dessert ordered. I️ drank water. To me too expensive for an “ok” meal.
Yummy food with exceptional service. Pricey but worth the money!
We typically frequent Peter Lugers steak house. Frankie and Johnnies is more romantic, cozy fire place, great wait staff, over the top delicious food. We will be back.
Food was excellent. It was our 52nd Anniversary and they gave us a special dessert on the house. Very good service. Back room a bit noisy.
Waiting and staff were excellent. However, it took us over an hour for our main courses to arrive and it was a slow evening. We had arrived at 5pm.
Very nice place for dinner. Good food and good service. Prices are moderate
I’ll come again
Nice setting, food was very good...nice wine selection
My fillet mignon was excellent. The Oysters Rockefeller were tasty. I didn't much care for the hash brown potatoes but that was a matter of personal taste. The service was helpful.
Fantastic meal, for the second time in 2 trips! Best steak ever, and fines wine to accompany... Love this place, Sal was a wonderful server.
I have frequented the restaurant on five prior occasions and up until Saturday, I regarded the resteraunt as my favorite steakhouse in the city. The service is always superb and the food is absolute delicious. I had taken some of my food home and I discovered when I arrived, two blond hairs in the food located in two separate containers. I am a brunette and there is absolutely no chance of the hairs belonging to anyone other than staff as my friends or no one in close association has blond hair. I was extremely disappointed because given the prices of the meal you expect a high standard essentially perfection. The discovery of two hairs was unacceptable and I am definitely considering never going back-truly unfortunate.
