Tried to rip us off with the wrong whisky ...awful place avoid
Very enjoyable and top quality steak
Porzioni enormi. Carne di buona qualità ben cucinata. Servizio attento e cordiale. Prezzi elevati, forse un po’ sopra la media per gli standard di New York
We always visit Frankie & Johnnies Steakhouse (37th Street location) every year around Christmas and New Years. The porterhouse for two is always spot on. The service is top notch. Our favorite restaurant at this time of the year. We love sitting in front of the fireplace.
The service was phenomenal from the moment we walked in the door until we left. Food was out of this world. Filet was perfectly crusted on the outside and the veal chop porterhouse was extremely tender and flavorful. If ever in NYC again, would definitely go back without hesitation.
Cozy place. Arrived early and staff was very accommodating.
Lobster bisque was very good and fliers were also really good.
Christmas dinner with family and friends. The seafood appetizer was outstanding! Good suggestion by our waiter. There were 7 of us and every meal, mostly steaks were also outstanding. We had a couple of sides that were very good to go with the steaks. We ordered a couple of the sauces although not needed because the steaks were that good but an excellent bernaise and bourdelese sauces were great compliments. It was nice to get a call from Frankie and Johnnies to confirm my reservation for Christmas Day. I would highly recommend this restaurant. RumbleON
Really good meat that was perfectly cooked. Good vine list. Rather expensive.
We were seated downstairs as the upstairs dining room was being used for a private party. It was a pre theatre reservation and the room filled up quickly. Service was pleasant and our filets were perfectly prepared. As a New York steakhouse, the menu was predictable.
This is a beautiful spot with a fantastic service staff. The waiters and their attendants were excellent, attentive without being intrusive. Unfortunately, we were in a bit of a hurry to catch a Broadway show so we did not relax and enjoy this great restaurant like we normally would have. My wife says the French Onion Soup was outstanding! She also had the Risotto which she enjoyed very much. I had the Filet steak with a baked potato. The potato skin was over baked to the point of being crusty and a little burnt. Fortunately, I like it that way but I can see how others may be disappointed. My steak was excellent!
We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal in a nice atmosphere!
Great food. Service however left much to be desired.
Best filet ever
Horrible meat. Not recommend it. You can by the same quality of meat from Key Food 1/10 of the price.
Lovely service was very good, food was delicious
Frankie & Johnnies on 37th is non-descript from the outside but interesting on the inside. Old New York Townhouse mostly well preserved with two stories used for restaurant and bar. We did not use the bar but it appeared very attractive and comfortable. Our party of six were greeted and seated promptly. Service is very professional, somewhat cool in attitude and unhurried. Kudos to our server for overhearing that one couple was celebrating an anniversary and presented them with a complementary cheesecake with lighted candle at the end of the meal. Table location was comfortable. Frankie and Johnnies is a steakhouse so five of six had steak, the other pan seared chicken with wild mushroom sauce. Two rib eyes and three filet's rounded out the meals. All were cooked precisely as ordered, all were of great quality, none were left. The chicken dish was equally excellent. Sides of au gratin potatoes, asparagus and sauteed mushrooms and onions were excellent complements. New York Cheesecake for desert was very good. Only downsides were the Classic Salad which was taste and colorless and wines by the glass selection presented on the menu was very limited. Frankie and Johnnies is quite expensive but not outrageous for an excellent meal in New York.
We really enjoyed our meal here. I had probably the most tender steak I have ever had, the sauteed asparagus was really lovely, and the creme brulee dessert was really great. The service was really good, I liked our waiter. We were able to develop a rapport with him right away. I would definitely go here again.
Our food came out cold.
The ambiance was nice but did not match to food.
Nice dinner before the fights atMSG. GOOD service nice wines
We've visited 2 locations on 2 trips to NYC and the service and food was amazing both times. Yes, it's a bit pricey but what you would expect to pay for a fine meal in Manhattan. The staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating. They make you feel like they are glad you came to dine with them and like they consider it a privilege to serve you. Steaks are wonderful. Side portions are big enough to share. Lobster ravioli is also a favorite and the pink sauce they serve it with is tasty and smooth. We will definitely visit again when we are in town.
Old school steakhouse with decent menu selection although the night we were there they only had filet mignon with crab meat (filet mignon alone was not offered which seems odd). They were very accommodating and squeezed in an extra guest at our table at last minute which we appreciated very much. Room was extremely noisy primarily due to one table of 8-10 people where one woman kept periodically shouting. Eventually guests at other tables (including me) were forced to ask her to lower her voice, which she sort of complied with.
Great service and food. Best steaks we've ever had. We will be back!
Great food, excellent service. My only complaint, and it really isnt the fault of the restaurant but mine for not checking, but there was no kids menu. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and ended up getting them sliders. A little on the pricey side but then again, what isnt in NYC. Would definitely recommend and return.
Love the old speakeasy atmosphere and history. They were very nice to my daughter for her birthday.
Was here for my birthday, food was amazing and the service was great
Steak is awesome, service is great, and everything else is great too. Really good Manhattans too 🍸👍
Food great. We misunderstood what our server was telling us and had an appetizer instead of an entree. Disappointing.
Amazing as always!
My husband and I went here for a celebratory birthday dinner for our weekend getaway. This place was so romantic, the service was fantastic, and the food was spectacular. I would definitely recommend this place.
A small, quiet restaurant. The ambiance was quiet however, the restaurant was so dimly lit that there was barely enough light to read the menu. The food was tasty but it very slow in being delivered for consumption.

Recommended Us !!
Our amazing server named Danny was a lot of fun! The fun was so flavorful and wonderful. This restaurant was recommended to us from friends in Florida- I am so glad we took their recommendation!
My husband enjoyed his steak very much and I thought the molten chocolate cake dessert was delicious. However, I thought the sides and our appetizer was very plain and without much flavor. For the cost, I would try someplace else next time.
Excellent service and delicious food. Really nice...
Manager is very rude!
The filet mignon was good, the chicken penne was good, the chicken and mushroom sauce was ok. Our waiter Viktor was very nice. We noted on open table comments and button that we were celebrating a birthday. We also reminded the hostess when we were seated. After dinner, there was no mention of any birthday. I paid and on the way out, I told the hostess and manager that possibly no one alerted our waiter?? The manager said, “we keep those type of things low key” what the hell does that mean? It was offered in open table, they must have seen it in the notes section and the Birthday button, and don’t forget my verbal reminder to the person who seated us. if they don’t do anything, they should noted it on the site or tell you when they get there or a little sign of some kind and not act like a rude snob! I picked their restaurant to spend a family birthday at, and this dude seriously is acting like shutting down birthdays is a good thing! Well, guess we won’t be returning there again! A simple, oh, I’m sorry” would have been nice. Oh and don’t try to buy any of their steak sauce, they rudely refer you to a website for that. These people are missing the mark when it comes to customer service! If you want service and a good steak, go to DelFriscos! (they went out of their way for us!) Many places (nicer that this joint) write happy birthday on a plate and a little cookie or dessert! This rude guy acted like this restaurant was too good to celebrate a birthday and that it was beneath them! I used to love this place but won’t be returning.
Loved this place. The food was amazing and Sal our waiter was the best. Love the ambiance and atmosphere.
1- sat in bar area for 20 mnts was not able to even get bar tenders attention no drink
2- dinner food was great but waiter was fair at best. We had to keep asking for water. Good grief
Visiting NY. Great steak and seafood. Wonderful atmosphere and wait staff. Will visit again.
The food was good and we were not rushed out of the restaurant and had plenty of time for an enjoyable pre show dinner
Excellence on every level. Loved the oysters, ribeye steak, scalloped potatoes and vino.
