We typically frequent Peter Lugers steak house. Frankie and Johnnies is more romantic, cozy fire place, great wait staff, over the top delicious food. We will be back.

Food was excellent. It was our 52nd Anniversary and they gave us a special dessert on the house. Very good service. Back room a bit noisy.

Waiting and staff were excellent. However, it took us over an hour for our main courses to arrive and it was a slow evening. We had arrived at 5pm.

My fillet mignon was excellent. The Oysters Rockefeller were tasty. I didn't much care for the hash brown potatoes but that was a matter of personal taste. The service was helpful.

I have frequented the restaurant on five prior occasions and up until Saturday, I regarded the resteraunt as my favorite steakhouse in the city. The service is always superb and the food is absolute delicious. I had taken some of my food home and I discovered when I arrived, two blond hairs in the food located in two separate containers. I am a brunette and there is absolutely no chance of the hairs belonging to anyone other than staff as my friends or no one in close association has blond hair. I was extremely disappointed because given the prices of the meal you expect a high standard essentially perfection. The discovery of two hairs was unacceptable and I am definitely considering never going back-truly unfortunate.

We were looking for a steakhouse near the Empire State Building. At 6pm on Saturday, we reserved a table for 4 for 8:30 pm that evening. We were seated upstairs in an area with several tables, but only one other was occupied. More people arrived as we ate. We were served different breads and crackers to start. We followed it up with delicious French Onion Soup and a decent Lobster Bisque. Two of our party enjoyed the fantastic special of Filet Mignon and Crab. We shared three side dishes, including the delicious Lyonnaise Potatoes. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and we enjoyed every bite! The dim lighting, quiet atmosphere, and attentive staff helped make our experience a wonderful one.

My wife and I went for my birthday. We came a little early so we and another couple were the only people. Our waiter was terrific, food excellent. No noise. Just a. Terrific meal. I won't recommend anything because if you don't like it you won't blame me. Just trust me

Anniversary dinner- lobster bisque was good but not much as far as actual lobster meat. Steaks arrived ordered medium well and although my steak was closer to medium wife's filet was too red for her. It was returned quickly and without much fan fare. Many people served and followed up with us. Side orders were large and family style. I would recommend to a friend but for $162 for two (without me drinking alcohol or eating desert) seemed high even for a manhattan steak house.

Anchovy on caesar salad was not fresh. Filet mignon steak was dry. Cream in coffe had lumps in it. Sent it away. They took away two glasses of water off the bill, added a tip of their choosing and ran my card. Worst $200 I’ve ever spent on a meal and I eat out alot

We had been to another location, and were happy to see this midtown site. The ambiance was good and the food excellent! Our server was superb; took care of even detail. Had the porterhouse for two - outstanding! Drinks also creative and well-presented. Thanks for a great evening...

I just needed a place with a 5-5:30 opening near my hotel and this one popped up. I have only compared to Keens menu prices(nearby). Filet mignon steak was 8oz for $54. Mashed potatoes $10-12, spinach $13, glass of wine $13, std salad $13. Everything was fine on the food side except the salad was weak, old lettuce and not very inviting (as much as a salad can be). Service was very attentive and helpful. I would have preferred to read the special menus rather than being dictated to about them. We were there a bit early for a Sat night but it did get more filled as we ate.

The food was great, but the wine list showed a 2007 Estancia (Sonoma, CA), so I ordered it. What they brought out was a 2013, which was less than mediocre. Sure felt like a bait and switch.

Summer Friday at 6pm we were the only table for an hour. Quite incredible when you consider the usual crowds. Food was spectacular. Service was even better. Been to Keens twice but I honestly thought my meal here was better. Sal took good care of us. 5 stars.

The steak was as fine a piece of meat I have ever had! I love the way they slice it and debone it for you right at your table. The steak was so big 22 ounces, my wife and I shared it and we walked out stuffed. My wife had chop salad and loved the dressing. I had a French onion soup and I don't recall ever having one that good! We also enjoyed the creamed spinach. There are only two things that could have been a little better, the baked potato whole huge and enough for two, was a little hard and and difficult to mash up the butter in, finally the bread was just ok, not as good as you would expect in a steak house.

All in all it was s great experience, the service was too notch and I would highly recommend any visitors to NYC and enjoy a good steak!

Nice and quiet. Space is a breath of fresh air in New York. Excellent food and friendly/efficient service. Very big selection of single malt whisky. Stay away from Yamazaki single malt ($140 per shot!!!!!).

Dining at Frankie and Johnnie's was a wonderful experience. Upon entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly greeted and offered a table upstairs or downstairs. We chose upstairs and sat against the wall where we could see the entire restaurant. Our server was pleasant and had a great sense of humor. The food was delicious, especially the chicken dish. I thought about that delicious chicken the entire weekend wondering how I could copy the flavors and make it at home or visit the restaurant again and order it. I'm definitely going back for the chicken. The skin was crispy and the chicken, literally, melted in my mouth. The bread pudding, oh my goodness, so so so delicious. The flavor was amazing. The bathrooms were very clean and smelled great. My overall dining experience at Frankie and Johnnie's is one that I will remember and look forward to repeating time and time again. I without hesitation highly recommend Frankie and Johnnie's.

NYC was the last leg of our anniversary vacation. We've never been to Frankie & Johnnie's. We only knew it by reputation and it was conveniently located across the street from our hotel. My wife had the Veal Chop and I had the largest sirloin ever. WOW! The food was excellent!

The staff was very professional and outstanding. Thank you!

Since 1993 I have been dining at Frankie and Johnny's and what keeps are bringing me back after so many years is you know what you are going to get.
Good food and Excellent service.
Nestled on West 37th Street it was as us locals know it,The Hideaway, based on its historical roots being the former manse of John Barrymore.
Van and son are your host who are always on hand to greet you and giving their exceptional service as always.
