Excellent service, food was good and great ambiance
Went there for a birthday. Loved the atmosphere and service. Was a little disappointed with the rib eye but overall a good experience.
Went to an early dinner with my son and chose Frankie and Johnnys for the good reviews. We were greeted and shown to our table with a smile and was relatively quickly served our choosing of water. Menus did not materialize without me asking for them. We went with the sirloin, medium rare. At a steakhouse you would expect them to know their stuff, but steaks were served practically charred on one side and more medium than medium rare. Instead of a moist piece of simmering steak it was quite dry. Sides were really good, though and large enough to share.
The food is awesome. It allows you to forget that the waiter thinks he is better than everyone there.
Everything was good. Service was okay. We were not told the specials for the evening. I requested lemon in my water and did not receive any.
All in all, it was a nice night.
Better than we had expected for Valentine's Day as sometimes you can get caught in the romantic "crush." We were headed to a concert and the waiter wonderfully stepped up to serve us quickly, but we didn't feel rushed and the food (filet and sea bass) were incredible.
Love this place
Super Saturday night in bar area of restaurant for dinner with awesome service from Spiro.
We started with a bottle of wine to accompany our porterhouse for two, which was cooked to perfection and paired with mushrooms and lyonnaise potatoes.
Warm chocolate cake for dessert before ending our evening with cocktails.
This restaurant is a gem!
Great place to meet before show or after work. Food is always great and staff is exceptional
Steak was burned no flavor, mashed potatoes Were watery, spinach was OK not going to write home about it!
Fun Friday night in NYC!
We started with a nice Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that paired nicely with our porterhouse for two along with the mushrooms and lyonnaise potatoes.
Nice live jazz music
Fabulous service by Spiro along with some wonderful after dinner cocktails.
Restaurant week menu was fabulous, and dinner was delicious
I like the main menu better than restaurant week. I should have ordered that. Excellent waiter.
Everything was great!
Food was mediocre, lunch for restaurant week.
Was not impressed, will not return.
My husband won the Friday forty ,Harry Potter tickets. It was a Wednesday so we had an afternoon show and an evening show. We picked the 37 street restaurant for our after theatre, before theatre dinner. What a wonderfully inviting space. We were shown to our table and ordered a bottle of wine. A Caesar salad was our shared appetizer. Dinner was the porterhouse for two, spinach with oil and garlic and an order of French fries extra crispy. Everything was delicious. Because we had the second show and couldn’t bring leftovers into the theatre we had to eat everything. No problem. Just so I didn’t fall asleep during the show I had a cappuccino. Yummy
Food was amazing, service was phenomenal, atmosphere was wonderful. Would have given 10 stars if I could.
The waiter was excellent and anticipated are needs. Excellent Steakhouse.
Food was delicious and the service excellent. Perfect meal as part of celebrating my bday in NYC
Overall service was good as you would expect bit a little overpriced as are all similar Steak houses in Mid Town Manhattan.
1yr anniversary from a near death experience
The food and the atmosphere was amazing. Service was great as well. I will definitely come back.
Best Steak restaurant ever, this was the best meal I had in a long time, excellent service and the dessert was top notch!
The servers seemed busy and inattentive. They took forever to take our order. The server assigned to us seemed too busy so they sent someone else after I’d to ask twice for someone to take our order. When I reordered a drink they forgot to get it, when I reminded them they brought it in a glass covered with water droplets all around the rim like someone just washed it but was in too much of a hurry to wipe it. I was expecting much better service. The food was good though. It seemed we had two servers and we were not an important client for them last night.
Christmas Eve dinner. Delicious!
Food was just OK and the price was too high but service was good.
Great vibe - lots of energy. Really great ambience. But the food was disappointing. Both of our steaks were overdone. My medium rare rib eye was medium well; my husband's medium well filet was well done. Very disappointing considering the price of these dry aged meats. The sides (potatoes lyonnaise, fried onions and creamed spinach) were average.
Waited an hour for two mediocre hamburgers. The tomato and mozzarella appetizer were poor.
Service was really bad even after they spilled someone else’s clams on the floor and I was hit
with overspray. Not even an apology.
Service was very slow, food was good but not amazing. Ribeye was rather too fatty. Disappointed, after reading so many good reviews.
I had a bone in ribeye I thought it was good but not as good as I expected from your restaurant. The waiter was great he even showed me the best way to cut the ribeye.
Very disappointed as this place was well Overpriced and had low quality food. Lobster tail was fishy and steak burnt. French onion soup needs work . Big woody asparagus is not nice. Creamed spinach was like baby food. No passion put into the food. Typical NYC steak house. Bronx location is a lot better. Will not be returning to this location ever again. Must be a tourist trap.
We really enjoyed our night out at Frankie & Johnnies. Our server, Dan, was very attentive. Our steak was overcooked, so the restaurant comped our desserts.
Usually, when something isn't exactly what we order, we speak up. But because the steak and the rest of our meal, drinks, and environment at the restaurant were so pleasant we didn't complain.
We plan to visit the other locations in the city/Rye.
Frankie & Johnnie's, all I can say is outstanding. Our Waiter was very attentive to us, the atmosphere was beautiful, old and elegant. It was the old townhouse of Drew Barrymore's grandfather. The old fireplace and built-ins and all the beautiful moldings and finishes were still kept in place. But I have to say, we had a table of 6 and everyone at the table loved their food, from the appetizers, entrée and finishing off the night with key lime pie and cheese cake deserts. I couldn't find a bad thing about the restaurant and I would highly recommend it for larger get togethers as well as intimate dining. I give it a 5 out of 5.
Lunch prefix was an excellent price. Portions were perfect for my appetite. We enjoyed the meal so much, we returned another day for dinner. Larger portions, larger bill. Worth every penny. Excellent service.
Excellent food! Will definitely go back again soon!
Classic steakhouse, pro waiters, good drinks big sides. No surprises.
We come here every time we are in NYC on business.
Can’t wait for our next trip to NYC
Great food , great service and warm atmosphere!
I ordered filet mignon medium rare and it came out medium to medium well, which is very disappointing when you are paying $50-60 for a cut of beef. If you order wine with dinner, expect to pay $100+ per person
Ambience was okay, but has nothing on Sparks.
