We were seeing a show and we arrived at 5:30 and we didn't get our food until 5:20. We had to rush and couldn't finish our food. When we sat down we told the waitress that we were seeing a 7PM show. Food was good. Something off in the kitchen.
It was good. The broccoli was overcooked though. Our waiter was very good at what he does
Really enjoyable Steak! Prepared perfectly!
The service was special and very attentive
Had lunch at Frankie and Johnnie's on a Wednesday afternoon. I think we were the only people there when we arrived. The food was amazing. We went with the prix fixe menu and got the soup, entree, and dessert. The petite filet was amazing, melt in your mouth. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the dessert, NY cheesecake, was a great finish to a delicious meal.
Everything from soup to salad to meat was very good. The potato pancakes side took us by surprise. They're not shredded potatoes cooked in a flat pancake. They're doughy and cooked like hush puppies as big as my fist - and 4 of them. Very filling, so only order if you're sharing.
Good food excellent service near the Broadway theaters.
I would recommend this restaurant for avoiding! It was a favorite over a block, but has lost the character and ambience of the excellent old time steak house it used to be. Too bad!
A bit pricey for the quality of food. Place is a little tired.
Staff was very friendly. Service a little slow. Steak was not worth the price. Great atmosphere.
Great waiter! Superb experience and delicious meal.
Best steakhouse in New York City.
Food was great, service was good. The chopped liver looked like alpo but tasted great. The steak was great. Bathrooms were really dirty and gross for a high priced place.
Waitress was awesome.
Tired. Giant portions - either salad or meat. Almost a fast food ambiance. Meats were properly cooked.
Food was excellent. The waitstaff was ok but we had to flag waitress down for drinks. Bartender was great. Overall, very nice dinner.
Good food, good service, great location for theatre
Great dining experience and convenient to the theatre district. Our favorite place to dine after a matinee. I would recommend to others.
Best steak, service & bar in NYC!
Service was slow and pasta was still frozen through the centre.
From the minute I walked in I was greeted with problems . And it didn’t stop till we left. Fir the amount I spent the service snd greeting was terrible . Very disappointed snd there are lots of other top
The waitress was not friendly and rolled her eyes at the table next to us when asking for something. She didn’t want to be there and was very short. She said did you pick, are you done, do you want desert, and that was about it. I eat out at many restaurants and the service was truly poor.
We wanted a restaurant close to our hotel, Edison, and this was perfect. Meal was very good and waitress was lots of fun and gave good service.
Everything was terrible
Great steakhouse with portions that require sharing. Conveniently located in the theater district, it has a theater menu option which is reasonably priced and consists of several courses. I prefer the a la carte approach, even if it means I can't finish everything. Service was great and beer and wine options were more than adequate. I'm definitely coming back.
Been there several times at this location and older location over the years and menu, steaks, quiet ambiance are always much appreciated.
Been going to Frankie and Johnnies for many many years. Very disappointed in the food and value. Would not be back soon.
The food was ok. Being a big steak fan, I ordered the NY Strip. It was not what I have been getting lately. It was not as thick or juicy, it looked more like a ribeye or flank steak, but had a good flavor. The baked potato did not come with anything but either butter or sour cream - a bit of a surprise. The wine list was less than notable. On the positive side, the steak did taste good and was cooked correctly. They did not provide the A1 sauce I requested, rather their private label steak sauce. Another surprise was that their sauce was rather tasty. It was an anniversary dinner with my wife. To our surprise this was never mentioned, and we were seated in the front of the house near the front door. Not romantic, and not mentioning the anniversary was a bit of a disappointment. Overall, it was an ok night with average food that tasted ok, with a less than stunning wine list. For the price, I think one could find a better spot, one that takes into consideration when a couple are celebrating a special event and takes note of it.
I like F&J a lot. The food is always good, it’s an attractive, not amazing, venue. Of course, I always go after 8 pm. Our server was very helpful without being intrusive.
Food was excellent. Lamb Chops were thick tender and perfectly cooked. Wine pours were generous but expensive.
Typical theater district experience, fast service, and lousy food. I should had known better.
Tables are a bit too close to each other and too small for the dining offerings. Service was excellent and very friendly
Frankie and Johnnies is a classic pre-theater spot for a reliable delicious Steak/Seafood dinner. The space is a more open and contemporary space than the original, cramped, but fun space. The wine list is good and fairly priced- we arrived early so we were able to have a leisurely dinner- Our waitress was very nice and helpful. the steak was very good and our son had the salmon which he loved. Onion rings- yum...brussels sprouts- ehhhhh.
We flew in from Canada for my husband's birthday dinner! Was fabulous as usual. Thank you for the amazing meal Deb and Vern
Local steakhouse, great service. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Meals were excellent and fresh and the ambiance was classic New York, lively but not overwhelming.
It was fine.
Excellent service. We really enjoyed everything about this place. The aged porterhouse was spectacular.
Nice place but so hard to find. Needs a bigger sign outside.
