Smoked Apple Wood Bacon Steak
Rib Eye Steak
Unfortunately my friend and I were both quite disappointed with the food. Otherwise it would have been an excellent evening. The service outstanding and they were very Covid safe of course with limited seating. The beer selection was limited and the first one ordered was flat, which they did replace with another. We shared a wedge salad with bacon, but the bacon tasted old. We also had the Applewood Bacon Steak which honestly was well seasoned, but very fatty. I had the NY Strip which was perfectly cooked (medium rare), but the meat was not as tender as I would have expected. My friend had the Ribeye (most expensive on the menu) and was also disappointed in the quality of the cut. The mushroom and baked potato side dishes were perfect as was the coffee. But for the $300+ this meal cost it was certainly not worth it. We won't be back.
Our experience was absolutely great, as expected.
Service and food were outstanding. Our Server was so accommodating as we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. The only issue we had was since we were dining outdoors the restaurant did not provide any policing of a street person coming to our table a few times (unmasked) asking for money while we were trying to enjoy dinner. I think there should be someone protecting customers from that.
Awesome team, service, and good!
We ordered Frankie & Johnny salad, lobster tails, strip steak w baked potato and choc mousse cake for dessert. Everything was delicious as always. Perfectly prepared and the service was great!
Excellent steak! Wonderful service and nice outside dining.
We've been faithful patrons of Frankie & Johnnie's for over 20 years. It's not only that we love the food - which we do - but that we are made to feel special and treated like royalty. This is a wonderful place to dine and we can't recommend it highly enough.
I booked a table for three. I received a table for two with an additional seat in the walkway. I spent the evening worried about the waiters going past me carrying trays over my head. When I mentioned it to the waiter it was clear that we weren't going to be moved. It was obvious to us that this was not suitable for three people. Also, the steak was not cooked to my very specific request and had to be sent back.
Terrific theater district restaurant with quality food and service. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Classic old school steak house vibe. Loved it. Oysters to Filet to my wife's lobster ravioli were all very good. Super friendly staff, great service!
Excellent service and the food was absolutely perfect! Can not wait to dine again! Bon appetite!
Great place for a bite before shows. They have a theater menu! Very friendly service. Thanks
Great service, food was delicious except for my decaf coffee at the end.
It was quite good. The steak was a tad tough for my date. Other then that, it was a good experience.
We came in from out of town and were looking forward to a great steak house. The steak was over cooked and not flavorful. We were charged to have our Brussel sprouts sautéed and they were greasy and again flavorless. Over all definitely not worth the $$$ tag.
Frankie and Johnnie's is my "go to" place when I am in the city. Its been a staple for me for many years. I often try to bring others with me so that they can experience the place too. both location in the city are top notch and highly underrated. Give it a shot! You'll be glad you did.
It was my first whiskey tasting experience which was awesome! Never thought you can pair whiskey with food and have such a beautiful evening.
Visiting with our daughter in NYC
Filet overdone and not the best quality meat . Creamed spinach had an awful taste
Great time!! Food was awesome.
Let's face it, days like Valentine's Day can be an absolute horror show for the kitchen. For F & J's, it was exactly that. After a positive first experience during a normal day's traffic before seeing a show, I decided to take my date here. That experience could not be replicated.
I'll start with the pros: Service was attentive and very friendly. Both of our sides (truffle fries & au gratin potatoes), plus our appetizer(F & J Shrimp Scampi), were incredibly tasty and well seasoned. Atmosphere was warmly lit and cozy seating. Unfortunately, those are all I can come up with.
The cons: I scheduled a reservation for 8:30pm, but we had to wait an extra 20 minutes for our table to be ready since they were not keeping track of how many tables needed to be reserved. My date and I both ordered steaks ( a NY Strip and a ribeye). After forgetting our napkins and bread, we received our food. Both steaks were cooked completely wrong. I asked for mine to be cooked medium, I received a rare steak. My date asked for hers to be more on the well side, and she received a rare steak as well. We promptly sent our orders back, only to receive an even worse order. Both steaks were absolutely charred as charred can be, and they were both cooked to a crisp. My steak's crust was completely burnt, tasting like burnt toast. My date's steak was the same exact way. To add insult to injury, the couple next to us ALSO received both of their orders under cooked. At this point, we were full from bread and sides and could only eat so much of our orders, so we paid, and left, feeling cheated out of a romantic night's dinner.
To those of you considering coming here, please make sure you come on a day that the restaurant is not too busy, as they can't handle a full restaurant's workload, which does not help justify the prices they charge for their food. To be brutally honest, I don't see myself ever coming back here, unless someone else is paying.
Coughing bar tender, a 15 minute wait while they prepared our seats by the toilet-- the sound of cutlery being sorted all night drowned out my dates conversation. An immediate attempt to sell us a $100 of wine, and a sub par steak.
Food was just okay overpriced for what we had. Portions are very large though but nothing special about the restaurant
The restaurant was over crowded as it was Valentine's Day-- however, our reservation was at 5:45 so we could have avoided the madness. The problem was that we placed our order and even asked for a rush on food because we were there with our toddler, and somehow it took an hour for our main courses to arrive. The tables next to us were all getting their orders first even if they ordered after us. By the time the meal came, we were full off of bread and french fries and had to ask to take our filet mignons to go. We didn't even get an apology from our waiter or the manager.
The food was good but the organization of service was poor.
My husband's steak was overly well done when he asked for medium well. The mash potatoes were watery and broccoli was too hard.
Ourwaiter was wonderful as was the service.
My salmon was delicious.
We were disappointed because it is suppose to be known for its steaks.
Dont think we would go back.
The steaks were OK, but we could see no difference between the medium and the medium rare filet. The veggies were terrible (we had asparagus, Brussels Sprouts and a baked potato).
We went for lunch during restaurant week. Unfortunately the soup was bland, the chicken parmesan was over cooked and salty, and the pasta was quite al dente (too much so). Service was fine, though the food was not good enough to return.
I went to Frankie and Johnnie’s for restaurant week. While I realize it is steakhouse, I chose to have the pork chop. The pork chop was superb and perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the caramelized apples that went with it. On the menu at said a potato pancake came with it, however, it was much better than a potato pancake. It was more of a croquet that was fried and very tasty. To top it off, I had the cheesecake. After a large meal it was a perfect size dessert, nothing too outrageous and it was a very delicious dessert. A great value during restaurant week.
Lastly, I don’t want to forget my excellent service. My reservation was for 730 in there for most of the theater crowd had left. This can be a let down time for servers in the theater district. Not here, they were very attentive throughout the entire meal with no let down
F&J's provided a wonderful meal, terrific service and great environment. The female bartender was attentive and created really good cocktails. This Theatre District restaurant is worth repeat visits.
We were seated at 6:30 I had to ask for my main course at 7:10 and the waiter said you have time your show doesn't start until 8:00. Yes but I would like to be in my seat before the show starts I told him. He finally brings me my food and the plate was cold and the food was lukewarm. I was not happy
Main courses were not prepared to the proper doneness. Our request to speak with a manager was ignored at the time. When food was re-served my steak was over cooked. Finally spoke with manager when we were leaving. He said he was busy, and your meals were recooked.
The food was good price reasonable service was great
Visited Frankie and Johnnie's Steakhouse during restaurant week (Feb 2020). Myself and several co-workers had an excellent lunch and great service. I would definitely recommend Frankie and Johnnie's - if you enjoy steak, you will not be disappointed.
I enjoyed my evening as well as the superb meal I was blessed to have. Everything was delicious I will come back again.
Disappointed - When our party of three arrived to take advantage of Restaurant Week and were seated we were asked the question if we going to the theater tonight, which we replied no. But we were never told why the question was asked. Well it turn out that the steakhouse uses that info to determine who gets served first and not by first come first served. So, after 30+ minutes we were wondering why people who came later than us were getting served first, so we asked our waiter and it was then that he told us why he asked the question. It was at this time he put in the request for our order to be expedited.
Then the food came only to see a microscopic steak and even then its was not cooked the way I requested, medium well. Instead it was red, red inside, so I had to request that be cooked some more. When I finally got it, it overcooked on the outside and still undercooked on the inside. So, this is why my friends and I were rather disappointed with the steakhouse.
This was at least our fourth visit for lunch at F & J's. The Prix Fixe lunch is an excellent value with delicious entrée choices and dessert is included. You also have the full menu as an option which offers endless possibilities. Our server, which we have encountered on each visit is extremely pleasant with a great sense of humor as well as very attentive. We definitely would recommend Frankie and Johnnie's Steakhouse to others and will return ourselves.
Great steak and seafood.
Service took forever. A simple three course meal should not have taken 2 plus hours to serve. We had an early dinner reservation so the restaurant was nearly empty. But my party waited. We figured the food would be good since it was taking so long and frankly it was mediocre at best. Service took so long we took our dessert to go because we had some somewhere to be. I wouldn’t go back.
Great menu/wine for Restaurant week. Wait staff was courteous and efficient. Convenient to the theater.
Bartender/Host was awesome
