Tables are pushed together but it’s the only way to serve more people. The food is wonderful!
Chinese food was off the hook. Was so full we weren't even going to eat the banana cream pie dessert. But I thought we should taste it since it came with the Tuesday night special! And it was absolutely to die for as well
Frank Fat’s is our favorite restaurant in Sacramento. It is the best Chinese food around, consistently delicious. The service is friendly, professional and excellent. Happy hour is a good deal and drinks are a good value. Parking garage next door also friendly and secure. But the best deal is The Tuesday Special: 2 apps, 3 entrees, fried rice and 2 pieces of their famous pie for $50! They say for 2 people but we have fed 4 with this! But whenever you first try Frank Fat’s make sure to try the Honey Walnut Prawns.
Oh my, the food was delicious. We had the orange chicken and the mustard greens with mushrooms. Both were wonderful (the mushrooms were particularly good).
This is the best place for celebrations. Everything is always just right or better, the cocktails are amazing and of course, the food is awesome. Don't change a thing!
I love the Capitol Power Lunches.
The food and service were very good, but there was a mix-up over the reservation. I had asked for a quiet booth for a book group meeting. When I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes late, they said no one from my group had arrived yet, and they had no notice of my request for a booth. They kept me waiting another ten minutes while they set up a table. When they tried to seat me (in a noisy area), I asked if I could look at the booths. I found my group already seated in a booth, waiting for me to arrive.
The rest of the evening went smoothly and pleasantly, with excellent food and service. And the quiet booth was perfect for our book group.
Food was beyond my expectations, everything was so clean tasting & not greasy.
Happy hour menu had a wide variety of offerings but beer selection was meager. Very convenient to Golden 1 Center for pre-performance grubbing.
It was my BD and everything was wonderful
Food was delicious, service was great, restaurant was clean. It was a delightful evening!
My sister’s 66th birthday wish was to eat at Frank Fat’s for the first time. It happens to be one of my family’s favorite restaurants. She lives in SF where great restaurants abound and she’s a bit of a foodie, but I knew she would like it. Well, she LOVED it! Everything about it. Lunch was topped off with a complimentary slice of Fat’s famous banana cream pie since it was her birthday. And even though she crossed this off her bucket list, guess who wants to eat there again next time she’s in town? A fan is born.
An excellent evening! Our guests had restricted diets, and before we could tell our server, Paul, he asked! They accommodated us perfectly, including Vegan options. I chose the Mussels which were perfect, my wife had the Brandied Chicken that we loved, moist and crispy! The booths we cosy and they did not rush us! Just an excellent evening!
Great! Love the booths!
Frank Fat's is consistently great. High quality food that is delicious. Best Chinese food in Sacramento. Great service with a smile. But the best value is their Tuesday night special. $50 full dinner for 2 (that can actually feed 3-4) including 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, rice and 2 desserts!
Love Frank Fat's but the bar area is not a good location for a party of 10 people which is where they sat us. Additionally, the service was REALLY SLOW. I think we had been seated about 15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted a drink. Half our party ended up just walking up to the bar to order. One person ordered a rum punch after waiting 15 minutes to place his order and then the drink came about 10 minutes after everyone else's drink.; Placing an order for dinner was also rather slow, another 10 minutes after our drinks were brought, so we were about 35 minutes or so into our time there before our order was taken The food came timely after the order was placed and was fantastic as usual. Overall a lacklaster meal given it was really hard to talk and the service was slow.
Excellent food and service, but dining room had several large groups and was uncomfortably noisy.
Amazing, as always! We went there to celebrate my birthday & ordered the Immigrant Beef (fork tender!!), Triple Crown Kung Pao, & the Sang Gai chow mein. All dishes were superb! To top off dinner, I was given a free slice of their famous banana cream pie! Our waitress, Michelle, was very attentive & took very good care of us. We love Fat’s & will be back again soon!
We eat here whenever we can. Food is very fresh, delicious and plentiful. My brother joined us for dinner this night. He is a very picky eater and he absolutely loved it. We especially love the orange chicken and honey walnut prawns. Our service was beyond excellent. She was friendly, outgoing, helpful and entertaining. She was just a gem!
This was a laudatory experience. Service was friendly and attentive.
Food was creative and delicious. Can't remember when I last had such an A+ eating experience.
Food was very average and for the price not a good value....very pricey for what you got. I always think it excessive, when at a chinese food restaurant you are charged extra for plain steamed rice. That is pretty stock standard with most authentic chinese meals. Also, the dishes we had, while common chinese food plates, came with no sauce or cut up vegetables....just very, very sparse. The best thing about the place is the ambience but heck, you want the food experience to be good too, right? We will not be back.
It was a nice experience. Two issues I had: the potstickers were undercooked and the wine by the glass was awful.
My margarita was perfect (although strange for a Chinese restaurant ), the Peking Duck was great, the fried rice was pretty good and the banana cream pie was good.
Maybe it’s time for an updated interior? The 80’s mirrored designs are unnerving. The restaurant is long and the transition of rooms was an interesting journey to our table and it felt exotic. It was certainly an experience and I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.
It was my first time visiting Frank Fat's and it was very nice. Our server Nina went out of her way to give us great service.
I will definitely be going back.
Close to Golden 1 Center for a great preconcert dinner.
This was my first time to Frank Fat's. I chose to take my wife on a date to Frank Fat's because it was a sunny Sunday and Thrillist hyped it up. For those in the know, King Tsin recently closed in Lodi and we are not partial to Dave Wong's in Stockton. So, we made the trek to Sacramento to try out Frank Fat's. It lived up to the hype and was situated in a great area. My wife who is 38 weeks pregnant enjoyed the food and the afternoon stroll thereafter around the capital. Do yourself a favor and try this place out and then just go on a walk before the food coma hits you hard.
It has been a long time since had dinner at fats. Still great food and able to reserve and get to a 6pm Kings game
We always have great meals and service here. We don’t often eat out, but when we do, Fats is one of our favorites. The staff always make excellent recommendations and I don’t think I have ever been disappointed by a dish. Our favorites are the duck and the steak. We usually order a sampler platter and the Buddha’s delight vegetable dish. However, tonight we ordered a noodle vegetable platter and it was very good.
A classic that does not disappoint. Food is always top quality with unique selections that appeal to a wide range of diners.
Outstanding food quality. The Hong Kong chowmein was delicious as was the Immigrant Beef. Good Mai Tai as well. Very happy with our date night!
This was actually my first visit to Frank Fats, though I've lived in Sacramento all of my adult life. I thought I'd had Chinese food before, but I was wrong! The food was SO GOOD I'm not sure I'll ever eat anywhere else.
Great food with a large variety of foods and preparation. Great flavor for an affordable price.
As always, Frank Fat's never fails to satisfy. Consistently great food, very friendly and attentive staff, and very comfortable ambience. I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so.
Great food and service!
Could use a remodel/update in decor.
Classic Sacramento... history, mixed with good food and a great Bar menu!
I went to Frank Fats because of it's iconic standing, but was seriously disappointed in the quality of the cuisine. The ambiance was lacking as well; the interior felt cheap and plastic. The lighting was terrible. I can honestly say that Frank Fats only shined in it's service.
Frank Fat’s is always a good bet. Our waitress Nina was knowledgeable and helpful. She was attentive without hovering. My husband has celiac and must be gluten-free. Fat’s is always accommodating and able to alter most dishes. It’s proximity to Golden One Arena makes it a perfect pre-show spot. The valet garage next to Fat’s stays open an hour past any event making the experience even better!
Fabulous service, great food, reliable restaurant. Quality every time!!!
Food was very good.. Whole experience was great!!!
Service friendly. Food was good although I wasn’t pleased with my choice of the chicken, noodle wonton soup. I didn’t think it was very flavorful at all. But everyone else was happy. This wasn’t my first visit & I will come again.
