Franco on Melrose Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant itself was beautiful, food was AMAZING and the server was wonderful. My rating for service was due to the issue we had when we arrived. Our reservation was for 8PM. We arrived prior to that and stood in a line until 9:15PM. This outing was my birthday dinner and we had plans afterward, which we missed and were not able to attend. Not only did we wait 1 hr and 15 mins + to be sat, but my birthday was not acknowledged by the restaurant. We were then double charged for a dessert which the owner took one off of the bill because it was not ordered and the other because we had to wait so long. In my opinion a $10 FREE Chocolate flour-less cake does not excuse the fact that we waited so long and ended up missing out on our following plans. I decided not to cause a scene that evening as it was a celebratory date and I didn't want that negative energy lingering all evening. I was so disappointed in my experience I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for any reason.
The meal was outstanding. The appetizers were out of this world. We had the platter with a few different options on there. The calamari was cooked to perfection. The order of octopus was the most delicious octopus the member of our party had ever had. The burrata on top of the tomato with pesto was spectacular. The dinner course, mushroom risotto was scrumptious. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection. The white fish cooked in sage butter was phenomenal. And last and definitely not least, the spaghetti and meatballs were out of this world. The service was great, the server answered our questions and gave us suggestions.
The owner made it much easier for us, because we had someone walking with a cane, and they let us sit closer to the front of the restaurant instead of going to the back.
We were able to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. And we were able to get to our theater event on time at the Pantages.
Honestly, all four of us can't wait to go back to Franco on Melrose to taste the rest of the menu. The owner and his partner made us feel welcome.
Was looking for a spot w good but not over priced Italian food. And a restaurant where I could enjoy talking w my friend. Was rewarded on both accounts. Great food, thoughtful and helpful wait staff, fun but not noisy atmosphere and, while the place was crowded, we never felt rushed. The pasta is yum, esp the raviolis, the salad fresh, and the chocolate desert amazing. I will definitely come again.
This was by far the best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time. Loved the owners! Loved the staff! You have to walk by the kitchen to get into the dining area, the cooks held the door open when we left! Everyone was super nice and the food was beyond fantastic!
We were all famished after a long event, and the 6 people in our group landed on Franco. It's a spot we've all driven past for years, I event lived next door for a while, and we finally decided to visit. We were in for a treat from their great food and wine. Can't wait to go back!
We just moved into the neighborhood and car across this place. We were greeted by one of the friendly owners upon being seated at our table. The staff was super attentive. The ambiance is rustic Italian with vines growing against walls and plants throughout. It felt like we had stepped into a restaurant in Italy. The butternut squash ravioli was delicious. The special squid ink pasta was also a spicy hit at our table. The only Italian in our group gave his approval!
I'd definitely recommend checking it out. I'm looking forward to dining here again in the future.
Nice neighborhood place, although somewhat pricey. At 6:30, we were the only party. The service was slow for an empty place, but maybe they wanted us to feel unrushed. The place started filling up around 7. The food was tasty, although the special was kind of small. I would definitely return.
Franco on Melrose is hands down the best Italian food I've ever had. We were greeted by the owners when we walked in and they were very friendly and inviting. What I loved was that one of the owners, Josh, treated us like he knew us and it creates this warm vibe that I really like having in a restaurant. The ambiance is great, dim lighting and very intimate. But I have to say, it's not really outdoors, just looks that way. The only unpleasant experience was with the valet service. The employee had us park our own car, across the street, then told us that we had to pay. Which is weird because he should've parked it for us then. Other than that, great experience and would go again.
Such a wonderful experience! Franco himself attended to our table and was so kind and attentive. The food was amazing -- the best authentic Italian food I've had in the area thus far. The wine list was excellent and the service was superb. We were here for my boyfriend's birthday and were given a free panna cotta to celebrate -- and it was AMAZING. Cannot wait to come back soon!
Food was excellent and the interior is very nice. We were greeted by one of the owners when we sat down, but then nobody came to our table for more than 20 minutes after that even though the tables around us were getting served. It seemed like they forgot about us, but once we got their attention the service was very good.
We had a wonderful meal at Franco on Melrose. We are visiting from the East Coast and this was convenient and had good reviews. The food and service surpassed our expectations. Josh and Franco checked in on us, gave us good recommendations and worked with our 10 year old to make him a meal he would like and even try something new. Our meals, which included the orecchiette , the carciofi salad and the octopus with olives and peppers were delicious. I wish we had this restaurant close to home!
