I have eaten at this restaurant many times and always had an excellent experience. This was not the case this past time. The food was underwhelming, the service was terrible, and it was definitely not worth the almost $300 we paid. Very disappointing :(

First time at Franck's for a birthday- the food was above average and kept us guessing how things were done- very interesting and unique. The service was great and we had a good time. We will by all means go again for another occasion!

We went to Franck's specifically for the meatloaf dish. Kind of disappointing to pay $27 for a small ring of meatloaf that is no larger than a hamburger. It was tasty, but not that great when you compare other specialty dishes at fine dining establishments.

Not ideal for a business meeting as the tables are very close together and conversations get mixed with the neighboring guests.

I've been here several times and the food is always unique and delicious. The staff is very helpful and friendly without being overbearing. The atmosphere is quiet, comfortable, stylish and intimate. It is pretty pricy so be prepared to pay for the experience. Highly recommended.

We're normally at Franck's for 'Tasting Tuesday'; we've done that special menu over eighty times in the last four years. THIS was a special wine dinner with a set menu. Four excellent courses with wine pairings.

Franck's is our favorite restaurant and the primary reason is Robert Perkins, the head chef. Okay, so there are several other reasons such as an involved and welcoming manager, a talented kitchen and wait staff, close-in valet parking, an attractive small restaurant 'feel' AND that Tuesday Tasting Menu which is the best deal in the valley. We live about thirty minutes away near downtown Salt Lake but always look forward to an evening at Franck's. We've never been disappointed.

If I could give them more stars, I would. Franck's is not a cheap restaurant, but I have been to other fine dining restaurants where I paid twice the price and enjoyed the meal half as much. Do yourself a favor and go there.

Best food in Salt Lake Valley, hands down. We have been fortunate enough to have enjoyed Roberts creations for many years now and have not been let down. Servers, bussers and overall service are exceptional.

Francks is reliably good, but not great. On our last visit we were seated right away (doesn't always happen with a reservation) and the service was great. Good timing and cadence between courses, etc. The food, however, seemed overly complicated. From the salad dressings, to the extra items included on a basic caesar salad to my marlin dish. The creme brulee desert was so busy that I thought that they had brought the wrong item. Wish that they would focus more on simple execution and fewer ingredients.

Franck’s is the best small restaurant in the valley and Tuesday’s Tasting Menu is the best ‘deal’ in the valley: $35 for four courses including an unadvertised ‘soup’ that is impossibly delicious.
We’ve been to Robert’s - Robert Perkins is the head chef at Franck’s - over eighty five times in the last four years. Think that’s an exaggeration? Check out the reviews on Open Table.

Carrot Tarte Tatin (I had to Google that one) started ‘this’ Tasting Tuesday and ended with Angie’s Rosemary Panna Cotta with apple salad. The ‘main’ was Braised Berkshire Pig Tongue done with an egg and black beans on a hard-shell tortilla. Pig tongue not routine in your diet? Me neither but I had enjoyed Kurobuta pork at Franck’s within the last couple of months so I didn’t hesitate on this one. Same breed of pig - Berkshire.

Franck’s also has an excellent manager and wait & kitchen staffs. I can’t think of a single reason not to be there NEXT Tuesday as well.

We usually love Francks, always an exciting menu. The food was fantastic, but our service was very disappointing for the first time. We were approached timely and towards the beginning were checked on regularly but after our appetizer, we weren't checked on once until our soups were brought out, about 20 minutes. Between our soups and main course, another 15 with no service. After being served our main course, it took 45 MINUTES to get our check...she came by once and left a dessert menu and walked away, even though we had mentioned we didn't have room for dessert. It was very upsetting to say the least. She was engaging with all of the other tables around us but we seemed to be pushed in the corner and forgotten about. Again, absolutely love the food and have never had service issues prior but it wasn't the best birthday dinner I have had due to bad service. I felt like we were treated better by our valet than our waitress.

We've been fans of Franck's Tuesday Tasting Menu for over four years and have been there over eighty times during that time span. Franck's tasting menu is always different; I have no idea how Chef Robert Perkins pulls that off but I'm here to tell you he does. This Tuesday's Tempura Shrimp starter was exceptional. Week after week the starter is a conversation topic on our way home.

Having said that, I want to put in a plug for 'regular' menu items we have found memorable. If you like tomatoes and great pastry, you must try Robert's 'Tomato Pie' Applause for the meatloaf and fried chicken as well. The fish of the day has always superb and a 'group' favorite is cheese fondue. Something for everyone.

Great experience. It's a tad spendy but it's worth every penny. The menu changes often so there is always something new to try, you can't go wrong with anything you order. Good wine list, good service including valet parking. It's a smaller restaurant so it's very cozy and you can easily communicate with whomever you're eating with. My wife and I come here on special occasions and will continue to do so. The dishes are creative and delicious, the waiters/waitresses know what they are talking about. 10/10, would recommend.

Amazing French/American fusion restaurant with a daily variable menu along with a few staple entrées. The food is plated with care and portions are very well sized. It's a casual atmosphere with a lively level of sound, but slightly upscale--perfect for a family celebration or dinner date. Service was wonderful and well-paced.

Just finished another 'Tasting Tuesday' at Franck's. I was not familiar with the term Kurobuta pork.....but you can find anything on Google!

Heritage breeds are specially raised and heralded for their intensely flavorful meat and fat. In the realm of haute Japanese proteins (all apologies to tofu), wagyu beef, jidori chickens and kurobuta pork reign supreme. But you don’t have to travel to the Far East to experience some of the best pork on menus today. Kurobuta or “black hog” pork comes from the famed Berkshire pig.
Yup, Berkshire and kurobuta are the same thing. And this is one meat where it makes a real difference. Ever had a leathery, dry pork chop or tenderloin you simply didn’t have enough saliva to swallow? Conventional farm-raised pigs tend to lack the incredibly tasty fat that heritage breeds have maintained, and which keeps their meat juicy, tender and, yes, expensive. But if you’re a true fan of pork, heritage is worth every succulent bite.
*
Bottom line is that this pork main course was just outstanding and yes, I've had that tough pork often enough to know the difference. The only thing I'd question in the above 'review' is the comment about being 'expensive'. Our 'Tasting Menu' this evening was four courses for $35. We've been here on Tuesdays over seventy five times in the last four years....it's simply the best deal in the valley.

Food was 'meh' - so close to good but missed the mark. We had:
-Brussels Sprouts: Ok but lots too dry with a burnt taste
-Biscuits: Best part of meal
-App Salad (Romaine with a salsa of fruit and a couple of blue cheese crumbles) & App Soup (Butternut Squash Mole) -Pass on both for sure
-BBQ Lamb Shank (Odd flavor and very stringy)
-Olive Oil Poached Branzino - Fish good, problem was Buttenut squash risotto was half cooked and topped with oil... ewww

Waiter (Mikel) offered no input on menu as "only 3 items stay on menu, the others change daily so I can't give you a description."

Maybe staff should taste the dish nightly.

I am in no rush to return.

We love Franck's. The appetizers are phenomenal, the soups and salads fit the bill, and the entrees are always varied and interesting. The only thing we'd like to see is one or two more desserts with traditional ingredients (not necessarily dull). Desserts consistently appear to be their weakness.

We do come to Franck's for special occasions but our favorite venue is Tuesday's Tasting Menu. This is the best taste and value in the city: four courses, including a superb unadvertised soup.
This week's 'main' was Roasted Utah Trout, Confit Beets, and Celery Root Tempura.

Chef Robert Perkins is the genius that makes the wheels turn but he has plenty of help. A fine kitchen, wait, and managerial staff will have you talking about this place all the way home.
