A hidden gem in the Knudsen`s Corner area of Holladay, Utah.

Franck`s is a casual fine dining restaurant set in a renovated old home with a warm, contemporary design. The dining room is small and cozy; it’s a friendly neighborhood "getaway". Franck`s menu may be described as American with a French flare. On the menu you will find classic American comfort food such as fried chicken, meatloaf, and steak as well as classic French dishes such as escargot, cheese fondue, etc.

Francks is reliably good, but not great. On our last visit we were seated right away (doesn't always happen with a reservation) and the service was great. Good timing and cadence between courses, etc. The food, however, seemed overly complicated. From the salad dressings, to the extra items included on a basic caesar salad to my marlin dish. The creme brulee desert was so busy that I thought that they had brought the wrong item. Wish that they would focus more on simple execution and fewer ingredients.

Franck’s is the best small restaurant in the valley and Tuesday’s Tasting Menu is the best ‘deal’ in the valley: $35 for four courses including an unadvertised ‘soup’ that is impossibly delicious.
We’ve been to Robert’s - Robert Perkins is the head chef at Franck’s - over eighty five times in the last four years. Think that’s an exaggeration? Check out the reviews on Open Table.

Carrot Tarte Tatin (I had to Google that one) started ‘this’ Tasting Tuesday and ended with Angie’s Rosemary Panna Cotta with apple salad. The ‘main’ was Braised Berkshire Pig Tongue done with an egg and black beans on a hard-shell tortilla. Pig tongue not routine in your diet? Me neither but I had enjoyed Kurobuta pork at Franck’s within the last couple of months so I didn’t hesitate on this one. Same breed of pig - Berkshire.

Franck’s also has an excellent manager and wait & kitchen staffs. I can’t think of a single reason not to be there NEXT Tuesday as well.

We usually love Francks, always an exciting menu. The food was fantastic, but our service was very disappointing for the first time. We were approached timely and towards the beginning were checked on regularly but after our appetizer, we weren't checked on once until our soups were brought out, about 20 minutes. Between our soups and main course, another 15 with no service. After being served our main course, it took 45 MINUTES to get our check...she came by once and left a dessert menu and walked away, even though we had mentioned we didn't have room for dessert. It was very upsetting to say the least. She was engaging with all of the other tables around us but we seemed to be pushed in the corner and forgotten about. Again, absolutely love the food and have never had service issues prior but it wasn't the best birthday dinner I have had due to bad service. I felt like we were treated better by our valet than our waitress.

We've been fans of Franck's Tuesday Tasting Menu for over four years and have been there over eighty times during that time span. Franck's tasting menu is always different; I have no idea how Chef Robert Perkins pulls that off but I'm here to tell you he does. This Tuesday's Tempura Shrimp starter was exceptional. Week after week the starter is a conversation topic on our way home.

Having said that, I want to put in a plug for 'regular' menu items we have found memorable. If you like tomatoes and great pastry, you must try Robert's 'Tomato Pie' Applause for the meatloaf and fried chicken as well. The fish of the day has always superb and a 'group' favorite is cheese fondue. Something for everyone.

Great experience. It's a tad spendy but it's worth every penny. The menu changes often so there is always something new to try, you can't go wrong with anything you order. Good wine list, good service including valet parking. It's a smaller restaurant so it's very cozy and you can easily communicate with whomever you're eating with. My wife and I come here on special occasions and will continue to do so. The dishes are creative and delicious, the waiters/waitresses know what they are talking about. 10/10, would recommend.

Unbelievable prime beef hamburger. Outstanding wine selection. Excellent service. Perfect place for a Thursday night out.
