This was recommended to us by a friend. I would not go back or recommend to anyone. You're paying for the location not the quality of food. The mussels were not fresh, the bread was cold and hard, the oysters were sour, the crab was just mediocre. The one thing I actually enjoyed was the cocktails. Spend your money elsewhere!!
I went to the Franciscan Crab twice on a recent trip to San Francisco. Both meals were delicious and the ambiance and service were wonderful.
We had a great time, the service was friendly and timely. The food was very good, and the view of the bay, and Alcatraz was excellent.
Food was Ok, was not impressed.
Too noisy, waited too long to get our drinks @ the table (coke and Diet Coke.... not a difficult drunks)
Waiter was nice, apologetic.
I was very dissapointed. Maybe during the day when the views of the bay take over, the food takes a back seat and it does not taste so bad. This place is WAY overated. What a shame!
Been coming here since I was a kid growing up in San Francisco. Always a pleasure returning and enjoying their food and atmosphere.
We were very disappointed with this visit. The crab and steak were not well prepared and did not taste anything near what we remembered from our first visit. We would have been happy to spend as much as we did if the food were of consistent quality but it seems you never know what you will get and it isn’t worth the money sometimes.
The food was excellent but the tables are cramped and there were several mistakes made with our order. Overall I would gladly recommend this to a friend but with some caveats.
Loved the food, the service and the fact that everyone gets an amazing view.
Great food with great view of the bay!
I visited this restaurant with my friend for dinner. I made a reservation for quick entrance. Food was great. I tried dungeness crab and crab chowder. The portion was enough for us. The crab chowder was little bit salty but good for trying. The server was kind. I would like to go one more if I have a chance to come SF!!!
We celebrated our 10 th Anniversary at Fransiscan 🦀 Restaurant. Excellent food, service, and view! Highly recommended! We’ll be back!
I have a wonderful time and I am so happy to have meals there
This is a great place to take visitors, its clean and has a wonderful view of the bay and these amazing ceiling to floor windows. Everything is family style. This time the crab was terrible, they were small and the crab meat was grainy. The food isn't worth it but the view is.
High prices but food quality was just ok. Crab salad had pieces of shell in it. Clam chowder was average. Only thing going for the place was the view and nice silverware/ chairs. Will not go back again since there are better options nearby.
Great food and nice ambiance
The waitress was absolutely personable; attentive and kind!!
Awesome food - although the double shrimp and crab was a bit small -
Love the crab cakes and the crab pasta !
Our waiter needs some better people skills - he really didn’t like questions. I know it’s questions her gets every day but he should respond with the same zeal and sell the product .
We asked about a drink we saw at another table - he made no effort to help us out. Could I have asked the other table? Sure. Yet he is my go to guy and well he didn’t want a to earn a better tip.
Yeah we would still go again. It’s a small detail.
Dessert was very good with iced custard and brookie (brownie-cookie). Rather, I mean to say outstanding. Coffee was drinkable, but not very flavorful. Fish and Potatoes were tasty and price worthy, however crab was not that great overall. Pricing, wait times, parking and traffic make it not worth the trip in my opinion unless you're a tourist out for some sightseeing.
8:30 reservations and was only seated sometime after 9:15 after asking what the hold-up was. The moderate friendliness of the staff and the above-average quality of the food was not enough to dig the Frandiscan out of hole where the experience began.
We made a reservation for four on a Saturday night and had to wait 20 minutes but we were able to have a window with a view. This place has been around since the 50’s and us extremely popular for families as well as couples. It’s in a great location at Fisherman’s Wharf.
Our food was great. I had the seafood salad, My husband enjoyed the clam chowder, my friend had shrimp pasta and her husband enjoyed the seafood enchiladas. We thought everything tasted delicious and the prices seemed decent for the area. Great meal!
Place was super busy on a Sat night on a holiday weekend. Waited 25 min even with a reservation. Food is okay, not amazing.
We had a delightful experience eating here. My husband remembers it from decades ago and he was happy that it is still wonderful!
Brief online description gave us the impression of an upscale/fine dinning. We should have realized anything on the Piers are open to tourists. So, while we dressed for the White House, we ended up at McDonald's. But, attire aside, awesome food and mixed drinks. Seafood at these locations are pretty great. Reservations are definitely recommended.
The food was delicious but I feel it was very overpriced and the bathrooms were filthy. We were unable to use the bathrooms they were disgusting.
Had reservations for 12:30pm, but got there at 1pm and they canceled my reservation. It was a very beautiful day in San Francisco and traffic was very heavy in the Warf area. I live in San Francisco and left 30 minutes early. However we only had about a 10 minutes to be seated.
Great food and all around great service. Would recommend for nice evening outing. View is also great!
Crabs were perfect. Beautiful view of the bay.
Excellent food, great view
We had fish and crab for dinner. that were both over cooked. Service was slow.
Outstanding restaurant! Food and service are awesome! And the views are breath taking!
I've been coming here from the valley for two years. Love this place!
Mayor Dennis Brazil, Gustine Ca.
Everything was great. Food was amazing and the energy was exceptional
Line of about 20 people just to sign in with reservations! Sat on deck, quiet and heaters worked well! So got to skip the line!
Hostess was not helpful, regarding our special needs for seating. First drinks order took a long time and restaurant was not busy. Quality has gone down since we went last year.
I had reserved a table with a good view which really wasn’t taken into consideration since it was a birthday celebration. I was seated by the restroom and it was disappointing. Pasta was really oily and our crab was really small for a whole crab since it was $$. This was my second time here and it wasn’t like my first experience which was much more inviting.
Great place to take out of town guests for the amazing view. Food is not great but it's fine for a touristy restaurant. It is on the pricey side for the food but again it's an outstanding location with amazing views which is what you are paying for.
Great food great service top SF destination

View was great, loved all the pictures on the walls and the service was good but the food was lacking. Waitress was attentive and gave us good service so that was good. I Had crab enchiladas and an italian pasta and the sauce on both were the same and if they were not they sure tasted identical. When I eat Mexican and Italian I expect two different flavors. Bread was extremely hard to chew, appetizers looked nothing like the pictures. I do not mind paying top dollar for my meals but I expect better quality and flavor when I do.
Great seafood, crab fondue was amazing. It’s not a black tie place but good food for a good value, what more can you ask for.
Was expecting more out of this restaurant. Food was just ok
