Franchesco's Ratings and Reviews
I was in town from Minneapolis and found this restaurant on Open Table. I'm really glad I did as it was a 10. The bread and oil before the meal was delicious. The appetizers were great, the chopped salad was excellent as was the lobster soup. Our meals were just as good as everything else. Prices were really reasonable. If you're a local and haven't been here you're missing out. If you're in from out of town I can't imagine there is a tastier place in town.
Greatly disappointed last evening with my order of Sea Bass. As a loyal diner, I was not aware that the meal had changed. Forbidden rice. Gone. Change to white rice. Portion of bass was embarrassing. Truly. Smaller by almost half. Flavor of meal dramatically changed and weakened. Too bad. Was a favorite.
Food was good, but poor waitress had too many tables. There was a mistake on our bill, but we worked it out between couples. Friend ordered bowl soup, but received cup of soup and had to send back. Husband ordered shrimp de jonghe which was supposed to come with linguini, but didn't. He didn't bother to have that brought out since waitress was too busy.
The ambiance is very elegant and the food is always excellent. Our server was very attentive without making us feel crowded. They had a wonderful piano and bass players that played very nice background music. lighting and decor are very nice and I recommend this for upscale but reasonably priced dining, if ever you are in Rockford for a nice evening out.
Overall we were pleased. The service and atmosphere were excellent! However, some issues with the meal brought the value down. The bruschetta bread was too crispy, the ribeye was under cooked and too much gristle for the cut of meat. The mashed potatoes were very dry, I'm not a chef, but maybe try some butter or cream before serving. The prime rib was delicious, and the tomatoes and veggies we're perfectly ripened and tasty. We are locals, Polar Grove, and are not wealthy, but don't mind paying up for a great experience. Any issues aside, we had a wonderful date night and have made reservations to come back again. Thank you for your time. Brad
Celebrated my husband’s 70th birthday. This was our first time here, and we will definitely be back. Our server Devan was excellent, and she cooked up a mean “flaming bananas foster” right at our table, which was delicious. The food was very good and the decor was tastefully elegant. I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasions!
We really like Franchesco's - great food and atmosphere. In fact we like it so much we drive 30 miles from the Crystal Lake area to dine here. The main dining room often has a piano player on Saturday night - nice touch. This time however I forgot to ask the important question - "Is the main dining room booked?" As it turns out they had a HUGE wedding reception - the place was mobbed! They did not tell me when I made the reservation that we would be seated in a different room that is not nearly as nice as the main dining room. Sure the food and service was very good, but it wasn't the experience for my wife's birthday dinner that I was expecting.
This resuraunt is a very elegant dining experience. My parents and girlfriend recently visited for my parents special 23rd anniversary. We all had prime rib and the potatoes, which were cooked just how we had ordered. The drinks and appetizers were also excellant. I would prefer this dining experience for anyone looking for a nice meal out and they have a live pianist.
Shrimp Charlie was enjoyed by myself and two other guests. My husband had the double pork chop and I tasted it; divine. We went there for our anniversary and it was not disappointing. Lovely piano player and a great waitress. What more could you asked for. Benny, the owner even stopped at our table.
We went for the first time for a special family meal. Was very pleased. All of our food was very good and very attentive service. Upscale for Rockford which was very nice. Wonderful piano music in middle of dining floor. Lovely evening. Quite expensive, but they have price variety on the menu. Very glad we went. Will certainly return!
The gathering was to celebrate the 57th wedding anniversary of David and Fran Waller.
it included sons David Jr. and Jerome with wives and children. A total of 10 in the party. Highlight of the evening was when Evan Waller played the Baby Grand for his grandparents enjoyment as well as all in attendance for dinner that evening. A great time was had by all. The food was excellent and exceeded all expectations.
Our cocktails were great and the food was delicious. My husband had the prime rib and thought it was the best ever! I had the veal medallions with risotto and both were excellent. Our waiter, Javier, was very attentive and entertaining, and made the bananas foster "sing". We enjoyed Carl Cole at the piano also. Definitely a place to visit again and again.
This was my our second time visiting Franchesco's for an evening meal. We were returning from Ohio to Minnesota and made it a point to go through Rockford, IL to eat at Franchesco's. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much during our first visit we wanted to see if it would be the same . We were not disappointed. Arriving around 6:00 PM on a Friday night, we were provided a very comfortable booth immediately. Upon ordering, we did have to wait over 30 minutes for our meal, however, the food was hot and delicious. My wife and I enjoyed our meal, atmosphere and time comfortably relaxing after a long days drive. My wife ordered a cappuccino which was poorly made. Our previous waiter, Andres, from our last visit recognized us and after a brief discussion he stated he would make my wife a new cappuccino. This one turned out great. This is a simply example of the outstanding service reflected at Franchesco's.
