Francesca's Passaggio Ratings and Reviews
Francesca's Passaggio is a local place for us so we eat there pretty often. Bonus this Wednesday was half price wine so we got something we probably would not order normally. There food is always spot on. Never had a marginal meal. Very dependable and good service.
I love all the Francesca's restaurants and their sister restaurant Davanti Enoteca. At this Francesca's, the dining area is large with tables covered in white linen tablecloths. There's also a large bar area off to the right when you walk in. Our server Isaac and his helper, I believe Joey, were wonderful staff members. We received outstanding service with a smile with these friendly young gentleman. As usual, I started with the asparagus salad which is crisp cold asparagus along with chopped tomatoes and crumbled blue cheese dressed with olive oil. The salad is always fresh and full of flavor as the blue cheese is high-quality, the tomatoes very ripe and the asparagus bright green and crisp. For my entrée I had one of the fish entrées. I believe it was grouper cooked with artichoke, roasted tomatoes and capers in a brown butter sauce. The fish was so moist and flaky and I really enjoyed the simplicity of the dish with the artichokes, tomatoes and capers. It wasn't a heavy dish at all and full of flavor. I ended the meal with a cappuccino that Isaac made himself, perfect foam and very hot. This restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall where a lot of store fronts are vacant. I'm so happy to see that the restaurant was full of patrons and still well received in the community. I would highly recommend dining at Francesca's.
The food was the usual high quality Italian that Francesca's is known for. We had pasta and dessert, it was all delivered timely and tasty. My only complaint is that I made a reservation and asked for a booth. We were seated in the far corner of the restaurant next to the exit door. I guess I feel it makes no difference what you ask for on a reservation.
It pains me to write this as we have been going to this restaurant for years. The service was always friendly and you could count on the food being of high quality and consistent. A great place for a family dinner. From the moment we were seated we felt our server had a disinterested attitude and we spent a good deal of time looking for him. The restaurant did not seem overly busy so I don't think I can attribute that to the poor service. Our dinners were mediocre at best, not at all what we had come to expect. I hope they were just having a bad night for some reason but, unfortunately, we will not be returning.
Our group has eaten at this location many times and we have not been disappointed. However the noise level is VERY energetic. I wish they would put carpet down or noise reduction tiles on the ceiling. Previously the music was always too loud and Saturday the entertainment was playing in the bar area. Normally they would play outside on the patio but the weather wasn't cooperating. Again, the band was too loud and it made it difficult for conversation. Oh well.
We sat on the patio with friends. A beautiful evening that was ruined by a band that chose to blast us out of our seats. Went home with ears ringing and hoarse voice from screaming to my dinner companions...yes I said something to our server and the manager, but the music blared on. Recognize you have a small patio and do not allow speakers!! Shame on your for allowing your entertainment to spoil the evening.
It always has been an amazing experience at Francesca but I cant say it this time. The food was very good but we were disappointed with the service this time. Reached at 8:45 & I understand the restaurant closes soon but didn't expect the people working there to start mopping the floor while we are eating. That's not how you treat your guest. We felt like we were being rushed & weren't even offered dessert menu. In the end got our food packed.
When we booked our table the available time slot showed up. If they start cleaning at 9:00 then they should stop taking reservation after 8:00 pm.
This place used to be wonderful. Have dined several times a year since its opening. Last few visits have been disappointing. issues with staffing and kitchen. Slow to seat even with reservation and empty dining room, short on waitstaff - bar staff pulled out to wait on patio tables. Timing off - dishes not delivered together. Food quality still very good. Patio is lovely and lush.
