The 4th member of The Francesca's Restaurant Group, Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." The restaurant functions under the philosophy to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices.

About The Francesca’s Restaurant Group: Founded in 1992 by Restaurateur Scott Harris, Francesca’s Restaurant Group has grown from a small, welcoming Italian restaurant on Chicago’s North Clark Street to a restaurant group of three concepts across 33 locations and four states. Based in Chicago, Francesca’s Restaurant Group currently owns and operates 23 Francesca’s Restaurants, five Davanti Enoteca, and five Glazed and Infused locations.

Amy gave excellent service. A lack of training was sadly evident in the service from the runners and bussing staff.
We had an excellent festive meal celebrating the son-in-law's birthday.
Thank you very much to all, especially Amy and the kitchen for making his celebration special.

Food was excellent. We were originally seated by a window (our request) at a high top in the bar, thinking it would be quiet. If the bartender and bar patrons were not shouting back and forth to each other, it would have been perfect. We moved to the main dining area, and the noise level was much better. The ceilings have acoustic draping and the noise level for a busy restaurant was really well controlled. We had calamari and a tomato/asparagus/blue cheese salad, both good. I had the special, which was pasta, spinach and tomatoes in vodka sauce with smoked mozzarella. If it were a menu regular, I would be back immediately, it was truly different and very tasty. The dessert, an oreo pie which was also a special, included a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, which sort of ruined the overall pie and made no sense in the pie, other than to add a lot of sweetness. Would not have it again. Would return to the restaurant!

The husband and I came on Jazz Night Thursday 8/31. We were greeted enthusiastically by Kim, and seated with Sergio, Sam and Reuben providing our service in their usual expert professional friendly attentive service.
Although Francesca's on Taylor is one of our favorites, especially on Jazz Night with live jazz music and $5 martinis, we haven't been as frequently this year due to my health.
The menu has expanded. There are more salads than ever, but my favorite is the Francesca's salad with its multitude of vegetables enhanced by vinaigrette and blue cheese. One of our favorite appetizers is the sautéed calamari which is not on the menu, but is a variation on the breaded fried calamari. Another appetizer that I often choose as my entree is the braised lentils topped with sautéed shrimp.
Tonight the husband and I chose the same entree, the chicken breast in the lemon caper sauce with sautéed spinach. Delicious as always and one of our favorites.
For dessert, the husband had the pistachio gelato topped with the luscious Francesca's caramel sauce sided with a biscotti. I had the chocolate sorbet topped with both Francesca's caramel and chocolate sauces and garnished with fresh raspberries.
I highly recommend Francesca's on Taylor, especially on Thursday Jazz Nights.

Delicious food...and very a accommodating wait staff and chef. One member of our party requested something not on the menu, and the server and chef graciously took care of the request.

Busy night, not very organized and understaffed - or acted like it. Seated 15 min before hostess arrived. Food was good but every course was slow. If not for attentive bus boy, would have been much worse. Worth another try

Visiting from Florida, we visited Francesca's based on a colleague's recommendation. We wanted to the local flavor. The experience was exceptional, from the food, the service, ambiance and live music, it was unforgettable. One of the best pasta and sauce dishes I have ever had.

I have been to many in the Francesca's chai and this did not disappoint. Always good food and wine. Also love their iced tea. Waiter could have shown a bit more interest, but still acceptable. Highly recommend!

Food was very good. Came here after seeing Aladdin matinee. Only issue was my daughter and I were almost done with our entree before my wife and other daughter received theirs.

Amy gave us excellent service. The new shrimp and lentil appetizer is excellent as an entree. Francesca's salad is always delicious. The husband enjoyed his chicken breast atop spinach but said the spinach was over salted.
We were disappointed to find out that no soup is available on Sundays now.
All in all a good meal as expected.
I highly recommend Francesca's on Taylor.

Great place for any occasion and just minutes from the United Center. We were able to find a parking spot a few feet from the restaurant but it's nice to have the valet option during the winter months. Will definitely go back!!!

Diverse clientelle - agewise: from couples with two little kids to old wobblies like me; culturally: black, white, orientals, men with suits & men in dungarees; etc. etc. : all in the same room. The food offers something for every taste (if you like Italian cooking adapted to American tastes) and it's very reliable, rarely 5star, but nothing less than 3star, and not seldom 4star. Service is very helpful and friendly. It's where my wife I go when we want a pleasant place and a decent meal at a reasonable price, especially if we're nearby.

Francesca's was wonderful. From the warm bread with extra virgin olive oil to the profiteroles, the meal was perfect. We shared some wine and started with special soup of the day, roasted tomato. Followed by an arrugala salad. Entrees were risotto with scallops(yummy), spaghetti with meat sauce, gnocchi, and chicken fra diavola. So much food we took it home. Besides dessert,we had espresso. Service was attentive, but no hovering. It was a great evening.

The food was really good! The napoleanata pasta was amazing! Not too dry and cheesy! The pizzas are good too! The service was very slow! There was a server who kept talking unnecessarily just to be tipped and acted all courteous when not needed. Overall the food was good, service needs to improve.

The food was excellent, the service was wonderful, and the entire experience is simply one of enormous pleasure.

This is one of a few Chicago favorites. We've been going to Francesca for 20 years. In addition to the pastas and pizzas which are good, Fracesca's does a fabulous job with fish. The place is consistent, well priced and welcoming.
