We came in from out of town and were given Francesca’s as an option for great Italian dining. The food was excellent! Our server was friendly and the atmosphere was great. It was a cozy restaurant but I believe I saw an area for larger groups as well!

The service was not up to par. Our waitress had no clue what she was doing. She was very slow. Didn’t know the menu. The food was luke warm and the menu was too small and full of dishes that had too many ingredients. Simplicity is best with Italian food. I usually like Francesca’s, but this was a very disappointing evening.

I was at Francesca's 2 days in a row this week once for Happy Hour with a group and once for dinner with a friend. The menu is varied enough that I had plenty to choose from. I wouldn't really call it casual but it is definitely a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Cute place with amazing food. Sam our waiter was a fantastic help with understating the menu and wine list. Sam made sure we were comfortable and well attended. Each meal our table ordered was cooked the way we ordered. We will be back for more!

We had a great time for our family dinner on Saturday night. Our server and all of the staff made our experience there very pleasant. I would love to do it all over again. Thanks Francesca's on Taylor.

Francesca's is one of my regular spots. It is pleasant, comfortable and the food is excellent. The risotto is the best in the city in my experience, and the profiteroles are superb.

The restaurant was not only lovely but the food delicious and our waitress was simply fabulous--engaging, funny, but not intrusive! We were there early because I had a flight to catch, but I found the sound level to be very comfortable. And if you had a TV installed anywhere, it didn't appear in my peripheral vision, so kudos to you for expecting your clientele to be engaged with their dining experience! Parking was easy with an affordable valet, but street parking was accessible as well.

Went before a Blackhawks game. Food was good but service was slow, had to track down our server all dinner. I usually do like to go to this restaurant, maybe they were just short staffed that night.

Jazz Nite is great fun: $5 martinis and live jazz from a trio!
Jose, Reuben and the rest of the staff cared for us.
The food was good and we enjoyed ourselves.
We were very saddened to find out that both Sergio and Katrina, two of our very favorite servers have left Francesca’s on Taylor.

The food is very good but the service was annoying. Too many people stopping at the table asking if things were OK, looking to take an order, taking things away or bringing them. It’s overkill, and there’s no one person focusing on the table. Instead you get people asking the same thing over and over and also interrupting conversation. Also, in an Italian restaurant, the staff should know how to pronounce the names of the items properly.

This was the first time my husband and I dined at Francesca's on Taylor. The food was excellent - I had the butternut squash tortelacci and it was wonderful. My husband had the gnocchi and loved it. The caesar salad was too heavy with the dressing, my only criticism of the food. Profiteroles at Francesca's is marvelous! The noise level, however, was too much, if you want a conversation with your partner on a busy night.

I've eaten at Francesca's on Taylor a total of 3 times. This experience, I was greatly disappointed in our food, it was very bland. We ordered the chicken and halibut, it was fresh tasting just truly lacked flavor.

We selected Francesca"s because both the food and service had gotten better. We were celebrating a friend's birthday that evening. While the food was delicious, the service was the worst we have ever experienced. We were seated on time. The restaurant was crowded, but it took 10 minutes before anyone came to talk to us. After we ordered drinks, it took another 15 minutes to get them. We all believed there were not enough wait staff that evening. the waitresses we saw were running around trying to take care of customers. Really a shame given the quality of the food.

Francesca's is a consistent favorite. Tried the mixed vegetables with Gorgonzola, which was delicious! My fiancé and I both had fish dishes--his was decidedly superior in taste to mine, but still the evening and meal were delicious.

I ordered Sausage & Peppers for my entrée (a dinner portion of an appetizer item). The meal was presented in tomato sauce which I did not like. I asked for the ingredients of the meal to be simply sautéed in olive oil and re-presented without the tomato sauce. The restaurant cheerfully complied. At my request, the restaurant added onions and mushrooms. All in all, the re-presented dish was a very nice meal to enjoy with red wine, which I heartily did. Thanks!

Francesca's is a great neighborhood spot. The food is. Dry authentic and uses fresh, local ingredients. The service isattentive, but not hovering. Wine prices are fair and there are many. Ocktails. We have come to enjoy this place.

Amy gave excellent service. A lack of training was sadly evident in the service from the runners and bussing staff.
We had an excellent festive meal celebrating the son-in-law's birthday.
Thank you very much to all, especially Amy and the kitchen for making his celebration special.

Food was excellent. We were originally seated by a window (our request) at a high top in the bar, thinking it would be quiet. If the bartender and bar patrons were not shouting back and forth to each other, it would have been perfect. We moved to the main dining area, and the noise level was much better. The ceilings have acoustic draping and the noise level for a busy restaurant was really well controlled. We had calamari and a tomato/asparagus/blue cheese salad, both good. I had the special, which was pasta, spinach and tomatoes in vodka sauce with smoked mozzarella. If it were a menu regular, I would be back immediately, it was truly different and very tasty. The dessert, an oreo pie which was also a special, included a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, which sort of ruined the overall pie and made no sense in the pie, other than to add a lot of sweetness. Would not have it again. Would return to the restaurant!
