Francesca's on Taylor
Book your next event with us
Waiter was very personable as well as the other wait staff. Requests were made for substitutions and separating sauces, etc. and were done with no problem...whatever we wanted.
Good to know that if you're on a special diet or have restrictions...they'll take care of it.
We went to Francesca's on Taylor for Valentine's dinner. It was slightly upscale but not overly formal or pretentious. The food was excellent (we had seafood linguine, lemon chicken w/ spinach) and not too pricey (for a special occasion) at around $20/plate. Sauces tasted fresh and house made. The ambiance had a classic feel, not too quiet or too loud. A TV available at the bar if you or your partner can't be pulled away from the game. Staff was friendly and attentive. The manager stopped by a few times to ask how our visit was going. We'll definitely keep this on the list for future date nights or when guests are in town!
Noise level also depends which room you are in and since we had a baby with us it was perfect in a quieter room. Also we ate very early.
Booked for Valentine's day. They had overbooked so it took them 20 minutes to find us a table. Between the hostess, the woman who showed us to our table, and the waiter, no one actually thought about apologizing for the delay. This is quite unprofessional. It took them another 25 minutes to bring water. Service was overall disastrous. Food is good, though not exceptional, and the menu is limited. Given that it is somewhat overpriced, this is not a place I'd recommend given that there are so many other places in the area to get better food, at better or equally competitive prices, e.g. La Scarola, Piccolo Sogno, Mart's Antony.
Always reliable....getting pricey!
The recent visit was a good experience based on our family expectation. We had to make requests, when they should have been assumed (bread at the table, shredded cheese over pasta etc. )
Love this location, especially for lunch! The quality of food for the value is fantastic, and the service is always great.
Always a delicious meal. Mussels for an app is a great beginning.
Jose is a wonderful server/bartender. Also shout out to Leo the busser!
Service was excellent. Bruschetta delicious. They bend over backwards for my mom who has food allergies. Chicken disperata was delicious.
Bruschetta Romana is excellent. Try the mint chip gelato. My mother loved the pollo disperata. My sister said the pork tenderloin was delicious. Jenna was our server. She was very patient. The manager came over to our table to check on us. Francesca’s is highly recommended by my family.
Had a great time the room was live jazz was kicking the service was great
The food was delicious. Ambiance was lovely. They did their best regarding prompt service as they appeared to be short staffed.
The entire meal from the Bruschetta, the entrees, to the dessert was absolutely delicious! Great waiter and the atmosphere was cozy and warm.
Christmas. They were short staffed. It took20 minutes to get our first drink because only 1 bartender and couldn’t handle crowd. We have been dining at Francesca’s since MIA opened. Our son has lived in South loop for 15 years so we have dined here many times but not my favorite Location -have had several sub par experiences. We regularly eat at Francesca Amici in our home town ELmhurst since they opened. We do enjoy the food and Andy in ELmhurst is a great bartender.
Super good authentic Italian food. You won’t be disappointed
Staff was a bit overwhelmed because there were more last minute reservations ,including ours but we still had a great dinner!! The manager was helping out too!!
Great family atmosphere, and equally great for date night.
Excellent service and the cocktails and food was everything you would hope for in a special occasion.
Totally inattentive service. We were there to splurge our one night near downtown Chicago. We ordered the mussels for appetizers and it was served as a pasta dinner. The server noticed and did nothing to correct it, we did have it and it was delicious. My husband ordered the sea bass, but the truffle sauce was horrible and he had to exchange it for the salmon, which was delicious, but the service again was so blahhhhhh. As for me, the mussels with the linguine was very delicious, so I ordered the seafood pasta, or turned out to be dry and no one even came by to ask if it was ok. It wasn't that busy either. Long story short, I was very disappointed and I didn't even get a chance to order dessert. The only positive is that I had budgeted $300 for my special night out, I only spent $130. So, I keep thinking it was because I didn't get all dressed up and I did have reservations, but we decided to go right after our visit to the Kris Kindle market, we didn't look our best, but that shouldn't matter. Anyway. Their loss.
Francesca’s in Little Italy is a classic. The owner is old school and greeted every table. For a Saturday night, the area was not too busy. Perfect for anyone who needs to escape the busy downtown area. The food was delicious including their gluten free options!
Very very slow service
Since Francesca opened Davanti across the street it has been much quieter at Francesca which makes it a perfect place to dine with friends or family or for a faculty recruit which was my purpose. The pasta and fish are typically excellent, although I went away from my reliable choice of salmon to go with the sea bass which I thought was not as good. but the food is reliably good and the desserts are to die for -- I never can decide between the profiteroles and the tiramisu so we ordered both! the wait staff are very attentive and the ambiance is classic old style Italian. it is not spectacular but if you need a good meal in a calm and a bit upscale this is a good choice.
Great food and service
We had a wonderful dinner with friends before seeing a movie. Our server was a bit too timid, so timing of our dinner was a bit elongated as we waited to place order for drinks, appetizer and dinner itself, but overall the food was wonderful and we had a great time! Thanks again, Francesca's!
I have enjoyed Francesca's in the past, but we got a really bad server this time. No bread til right before our meal came. We had to nag to get that. I ordered a second drink and the waiter didn't bring that either. I had to flag him down after a very long wait to get that drink. I supposed he was new, but he made the evening a drag.
Service was slow but expected for a saturday evening. Very confused waiter
The evening at Francesca's was great, except for one dish that my BFF & I both had. It was called something fancy, but basically it was butternut squash ravioli. It was too "doughy" and the sauce tasted like beef gravy~yuch! Otherwise, the appetizers, bread, & food that our hubby's got was great. The service was great too.
Our family decided to have dinner here before going to the United Center to see the comedian Sebastian Maniscalco. We had so much fun at your restaurant! The food was excellent, service was outstanding even though it was crazy busy! We are planning on coming back after the holidays!
Food and service was excellent-a great place for a family meal
A couple of friends and myself gathered at Francesca's for a birthday dinner. The service and food was as it usually is...first-rate.
The Francesca's restaurants are among my favorite Chicago restaurants. We have frequented them for years, and only twice have I had a bad meal. This was one of those times. I ordered homemade pasta with a brown butter sage sauce. A brown butter sage sauce has two ingredients: butter and sage. The sauce that Francesca's is serving was viscous, and tasted nothing like a brown butter sage sauce. It even had tomatoes in it. The pasta (light, homemade pasta stuffed with butternut squash puree) was tasty. The sauce was barely edible. Don't order this entrée. Francesca's, you can do much better than this!
Had a lovely early dinner. The service was stellar. We sat at the bar and John, the bartender, served us. He was attententive, but not overbearing, and very familiar with the menu. He made several helpful and knowledgeable suggestions. The food was fresh and flavorful, and portions were generous. The decor could use a little updating but that will not keep us away. We'll definitely dine there again.
Service was extremely slow and we arrived when there we only a few people in the restaurant. Other people after us we're eating before us. Food was mediocre, was disappointed because years ago it was one of our favorite places to eat in the Italian neighborhood. It has changed in my opinion.
Francesca’s always a solid “go-to” for quality Italian food in Chicago. Came with an out of town guest and we were all pleased with our selections as always. I have been going to Francesca’s on Taylor for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal.
Great food and dining experience. Highly recommend!
Went there for lunch with my co-workers and we had a really nice time. The place was clean and looked very nice. Service was prompt. The lunch menu is small which I like because then I know everything will be fresh and it was. Our server Joaquin was great - and I am so embarrassed to say that I took the copy of the merchant receipt and almost stiffed him on his well deserved tip! I called back and management was so gracious and easy to work with in making the adjustment! Food was excellent. We had calamari, perfectly breaded and fried. Chicken parm for which they made a small substitution for me on the pasta and wow it was so good! I wanted aioli instead of pomodoro on the pasta and it was no issue. The other plates were a Rigatoni lunch special with salad, and two orders of pasta I believe is was Alle Verdure - it looked really tasty and they all enjoyed lunch. We were also served a nice crusty table bread. Very nice, nice background music perfect volume for still being able to have a conversation - will be back.
Quindi esperienza PESSIMA !!!!
It was jam packed when we went due to the Chicago Marathon going on. We waited a long time for our meals but we were forewarned and we were very well taken care of by our waiter with a drink on the house. The burrata was outstanding, the salads also outstanding. The main dishes were average, so so, nothing to write home about.
Still, I would recommend Francesca's highly for their care of their customers, the ambience, the excellent cocktails and I will not judge their food until I try them again on a less insane evening.
Saturday night and very crowded due to marathon the next day. Staff was not up to the task of managing the chaos. Waited over an hour for food and waiter never came by during that time to see if we needed water or bread and did not reappear until he dropped the check and ran. Guy in suit and tie supposedly running things but also did not make the rounds or offer any service recovery. Gave the impression they couldn’t care less about the customer. People around us were just leaving without eating. Cannot recommend this location.
Great restaurant in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood. A gem: the food and service were outstanding. Appeared to be a neighborhood favorite, as well. Thank you for helping to fuel my 2019 Chicago Marathon adventure.
