Francesca's provides an outstanding neighborhood option to the crowded Rush Street scene. Their menu changes with nightly specials and seasonal shifts which allows for the opportunity to explore new entrees or stick with the regular items. A great place for a meal, where you can carry on a conversation without screaming and also not feel rushed by the staff
A nice place with great food, they even made a little special attention for my wife birthday, nothing fancy but really well done. Tks
Consistently friendly service and good food. Prices more reasonable than many restaurants in this area.
It was super delicious! Management and service was on point! Great restaurant for a special occasion or just a casual date!
Francisco was a great waiter and very patient...Saturdays downtown are always busy...
Great food in a lively yet neighborhood oriented vibe. Great find in streeterville area highly recommend.
Ages ranging from barely 6 to almost 80.
We live a 5 minute walk away and this neighborhood offers a vast array of alternatives but Francesca is our go-to choice with a menu broad enough to satisfy anyone. Venue was packed but service still up to the mark.
FOC is high on our where shall we go tonight list.
Always a truly wonderful dining experience in every way!
Our waiter, George, was attentive and delightful. The food was AWESOME! My husband didnt choke on the bill either!
Our appetizers were outstanding.
While staying at the Drake, we had dinner at Francesca's on Chestnut. It was a short 2-block walk. The restaurant is lovely with excellent food and service. Will definitely return.
Downstairs here is great--quiet with an additional menu. The squid ink pasta dish is exceptional! Always a good meal here, good location and reasonable in price.
This is a really awesome restaurant. I love Italian, and this is the best. Thanks for a really nice evening.
Food is fair..lacks zip.....creatively missing...nothing special on menu...
This day was Throw Back Tuesday to celebrate their anniversary so pricing was extremely reasonable. Our table of 4 was engrossed in conversation and took a long time to decide on our orders. The waiter was very patient and helpful; he didn’t try to hurry us. Our water glasses were promptly refilled.
Mom/daughters weekend trip to Chicago to celebrate upcoming wedding with future daughter-in-law. Francesca's was convenient to our hotel on Magnificent Mile, too group reservations, and varied menu with something for everyone. Staff (esp. Reese) was outstanding!!
Delicious Food, Great Service. Just as we expected.
The food was incredible, our waiter was very very good, all around a great experience!!
We own a hotel condo at the Raffaello - but only get to Chicago every couple of months. We always like going to Franscesca's! Last weekend our grandchildren came down for a birthday and a show across the street. It worked out very nicely! They love your spaghetti, too! Thanks for the Birthday dessert and candle!
Everything was awful
It wasn’t bad. The food was flavorful and fresh. Our problem was the service. Our waiter wasn’t around a lot and didn’t follow through on bringing us things that we asked for (like bread) or if we did ask it took a decent amount of time to actually receive.
Very limited menu. $19 for 6 pieces of mediocre ravioli?!?! I could frozen ravioli that is just as good for less than $5. Pizza was quitetasty. Service was not good for having only 3 tables eating in the entire restaurant.
Will not go back. There are much better Italian restaurants in Chicago in my opinion
Post theatre dining on a snowy weekend. We arrived early for our reservation and we were seated right away. Friendly service by Carlos for our large group (6+) though he seemed stretched thin as he appeared to be the only server in the late weekend afternoon. Dining was good for the group although I make claim to the best dish of veal ala limone. Hubby had a ravioli that was quite good also. Desserts selected were delicious! A very memorable lemon dessert and a chocolate lovers dream the Torta Lava.
Perfect night! A chance to see a show and grab some wonderful food! Will be back again!
Overall a great experience. The restaurant was in a great location and was very reasonably priced for the locale and the high-quality food.
Portion sizes were very good. They weren’t pretentious like one might expect in the Gold Coast yet they were not obnoxious either as some Italian chains are.
We even received a free birthday dessert for my wife.
My only complaint would be the service. The restaurant was not terribly crowded yet our server was slow. This was unfortunately exacerbated by the fact that when he was around he was very quick to clean around us of any dishes/settings that were either used or unneeded, to the point that we started to feel somewhat pressured and rushed.
Overall it was very good though!
I was there last Saturday night with 2 great friends. We were all from out of town and really looking forward to a great meal. I was very disappointed. Two of us ordered Risotto appetizer. It was grainy, salty and not prepared well. It had to be exchanged for other dishes. One of us exchanged for the calamari appetizer; the other got the rigatoni with Italian sausage. Neither dish was satisfactory. The rigatoni noodles were tough and not thoroughly cooked. The calamari was also not prepared well. I ate the rigatoni because I was very hungry from walking around all day. The service was spotty.
Overall this was a very unsatisfactory experience. I visit Chicago a lot and will not likely return to this restaurant.
We have been to this restaurant several times on our visits from out-of-town. We like the menu as well as the ambience for a relaxing, comfortable dining experience. The wait staff was competent and friendly. We have no complaints except for one thing: the wine we chose was not available so we were offered the next best bottle for $10 more; we thought we should have been offered it for the same price as our original order.
Food and service was great
My husband and I love this restaurant. It can be both romantic and family friendly. This time we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, and everything was, as usual, top notch. We had our wedding here in September, and that was perfect too. The food and service are always excellent. It’s very special to us.
Great service, even better food. I like about 40min away but would drive down every weekend to have the gnocchi!
Second time to Francesca's and still it's one of my favorites in Chicago. The food is delicious the service is amazing. I prefer the pastas and the desserts! You cannot go wrong with this restaurant!!
We enjoyed our meal and our waiter, Oscar was excellent. We also enjoyed the Happy Hour in the bar...as this was a REAL Happy Hour. The food was delicious and offered at a fair price. We will definitely return!!!
Daddy and daughter date
I love the Francesca's franchises and the restaurant on Chestnut is now my neighborhood place. Great food, an excellent wine list, and wonderful service.
For National Spaghetti Day, the spaghetti with meatballs, house salad, Italian bread with olive oil, all paired with Chianti Classico was a real nice experience. Delicious and authentic.
This restaurant had nice ambiance, attentive service, and very good food--including some great vegetarian options.
Food was quite good from a diversified menu. Unfortunately we were here early on New Year’s Eve so probably not a fair time to evaluate. Noise was moderate but crowded due to what appeared to be their placing out additional tables.
Treated my daughters to a play at Broadway Playhouse and was looking for something the family would enjoy. With one picky eater in the group this had something for everyone. For New Years Eve it wasn’t crowded and the service was friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful with one comment from my oldest daughter that it was the best alfredo sauce she has ever had; which is saying a lot from the one who is quite selective on her food.
This was our firts visit to this location. I have to say I was very pleased and will come back. The menu is the same as my local Francescas but it was the same tasting and quality.
Very good Italian menu. My wife and I each enjoyed a selection from the Festival of Fish special menu. Service was great!
