Very good food
Really enjoyed it. Food was lovely and the service was great.
Have eaten at other Francesca's and have always been impressed. Food was excellent, service was good but restaurant had few people in it. Ambience was very good- great place for a business lunch. One surprise was it took a long time to get our check, which was surprising due to the low number of diners. Overall- very happy with Francesca's on Chestnut and would/will choose it again if I have business in that area of town.
good neighborhood restaurant but when it's busy can be very noisy. mostly wood and glass are the culprits.
Oscar the waiter was very good!
We love the location, the food, and the ambiance of Francesca's on Chestnut. The food is authentic Italian and delicious, and there is a great selection of Italian beers to choose from to go with your meal. Our waiter was very nice, and attentive to any and all of our needs. The location is so convenient to several near-by theaters, we were heading to Lookingglass that evening. We will surely eat at Francesca's on Chestnut again and have already referred it to friends.
This was a perfect location for a Sunday Matinee at the Broadway Playhouse Theater right across the street. Nice, varied menu — something for everyone. Very good food. Nice decor. A very pleasant experience.
Excellent experience. Everyone was nice and helpful. It was my birthday and our waiter went out of his way to make it a special evening. The food was great!
Kick off to the holidays! And in usual Francesca’s fashion, it was a wonderful evening!
Birthday celebration before a show. Was perfect. Thank you!
A very busy Thursday evening, but they were able to get us seated and served and off to the theatre in excellent time.
Always good and friendly staff!
My wife and I went for the first time and enjoyed our meal. We split a calamari app and it was very good. We also shared a burrata and tomato salad and a very good squash stuffed gnocchi with a pork shoulder ragu. The place was crowded with a pre-theater crowd so it was a little noisy and crowded but the staff took good care of us. We will go back again.
Food was not good and very overpriced for the quality. I ordered pizza and it did not taste like neopolitan pizza; the crust was chewy and the ingredients lukewarm
Comfortable & very enjoyable
It was so busy....but the kitchen was on. Food delicious. Our server spot on!
Food was great. Service was horrendous. This is our annual family dinner with folks traveling from out of town. It took over 30 minutes for most of us to get our first drink once we ordered it from the table. My aunt actually never even got her first drink so my cousin went and bought one from the bar. We had been seated for over 45 minutes before I was able to finally flag down our server so I could order appetizers. I ordered 12 Appetizers and they were were all delicious. We never got any plates for the appetizers so we were all using our tiny bread plates and napkins to eat then on. Finally over halfway thru apps we were given some appetizer plates. After Apps were done most of them sat on the table as empty plates until the entrees came. No one was clearing the table. Everyone was well past their first drink at this point and could not find our sever to order more drinks so we drank water instead. After that I tried to order 4-5 bottles of wine but our server was too busy to get to me. I was finally able to order wine right before the entrees came. The wine was still being opened when the entrees came. Entrees were delicious, only exception would be my stepdad ordered the filet MR and it arrived extra well done. He sent back and they brought him a new one but we were all done eating by then. But that happens, totally understand. After dinner our entree plates Sorry about that. in front of us finished and not cleared while we all hung out. Finally a bus boy came and grabbed them. Again the food was good. No issues there at all. Price is fair too. We had 19 people and spent two thousand dollars. Was hoping this would be the place we go to every year for this dinner but after the service we received I’m not sure anyone will want to go back. I set this dinner up every year. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks
We had a 6 pm reservation for 4 but arrived 15 minutes early. They were able to accommodate us in just a few minutes. Friendly staff all around. Great relationship for valet parking at reasonable price. Good food and atmosphere. Have been to this location and the one on Bryn Mawr several times and enjoyed each visit. Will certainly be back in the future.
I have been to Francesca's in different locations many times and have had tremendous food, this time they fell a little short. The meal I ordered came back very cheesy, I ordered a meal with cheese but did not feel the cheese would be overpowering. My wife had another dish and also was underwhelmed. I will be going back to Francesca's across Chicagoland but just wanted to be honest about this time.
Food is good, and affordable.atmosphere is nice. Location is convenient to mag mile and theatre.
Here are my issues: when you enter the restaurant there is a really rank odor like mildew or moldy carpeting or like things were wiped down with sour cloths. It just feels like the place needs to remove carpeting or replace and then close place for one day and do a super thorough cleaning - floors, chairs, tables, light fixtures, window ledges, everything including the steps leading to basement and whatever else is down there.
Holiday celebration with out of town family followed by a show. Service was extremely slow. We ordered coffee and desserts 1/2 hour before needing to leave. Told the server we needed to leave for a show asked for the check after receding our coffees. We paid the bill. Ended up leaving before desserts were served. Very disappointing.
Great service and food! Good gluten free options. The flourless chocolate lava cake is amazing!
We had our Thanksgiving dinner there. We ordered ribeye instead of turkey. We also ordered butternut squash soup, which was delicious. The ribeye was good, but undercooked. We should have sent them back. We will probably return next Thanksgiving.
Our server Diana was wonderful! Our food was comforting. Enjoyed a perfect Thanksgiving with my mom and Boyfriend.
Great food and service! Got in early before the rush.
Way too crowded - We waited for a while after our reservation time. We also got seated in the basement, which was freezing, and next to a large group that were screaming the entire dinner. Not enjoyable for the price that we paid.
I was terribly disappointed in this restaurant. It was the noisiest place I’ve ever been in, our waiter was kind but either easily distracted or terribly overwhelmed. And the food was just ok and not worth the price. I took my wife there for her birthday thinking it would be a nice quiet Italian restaurant and it wasn’t. I’ll never go back.
Awesome! Lucked out to find this place using the app after realizing a parade was going to make it difficult to get across town to another restaurant. Lucky for us! Can’t wait for another trip back to Chicago!
Great food, fast service, pleasant atmosphere.
We went here for brunch on Sat. prior to seeing a show at the theater across the street. Food was excellent, as was the service and the noise level was low (although there weren't that many people there).
Everything was outstanding. Food was amazing...
Good and consistent food. We love the wine cellar room downstairs! The renovation is great!
We loved the basement of this restaurant it was even quiet Enough to have a conversation.
The food and the service was excellent. I will definitely return.
Great service, great food. Not rushed at all!
Was a wonderful time. Service was great and food outstanding
Great food, great service. Loved their lamb special. Timing of food delivery was perfect. Always a great time there.
Solid restaurant for food and service. Can get busy pre-showtime with theater right across the way.
I wanted to complement our server joe. He was very helpful. We were meeting friends we rarely see so we spent a lot of time at the restaurant. Joe was attentive but didn’t rush us at all and allowed us to visit. He knew the menu very well and made helpful recommendations. You can pretty much tweak anything on the menu to your preferences. We will definitely be back.
Although they were busy, the service was awful. We had to ask for things like bread and Parmesan cheese at least 3 times. One member of our party specifically asked for no cheeses on her pasta due to an allergy and it came with cheese- and took 20 minutes to remake. The quality of the food was not up to par. Although the manager comped the one entree and gave us free dessert, I would not go back. We have been to 4 other Francesca’s and they were all fantastic.
