Francesca's on 95th Ratings and Reviews
Server was great, attentive and personable. Busser needs more training. He took food plates without asking if we were done and did not replace the used knife from appetizer with a clean knife for dinner course. Little thing matter otherwise we have never had a bad experience at this Francsecsa. Thank you for your excellent options on the Southside. Not many choices left.
As mentioned in previous reviews, I wish the word "Outstanding" could be replaced with "Excellent" and then I would mark it. There is rarely anything in this world that I would name as outstanding but would view as excellent. Outstanding is too much of a superlative to feel comfortable for a rating. We did have an excellent time, the food was excellent, as well as the wait service. All were above very good; all were excellent.
Our family of four was there for a 40th Birthday, it was Monday after Thanksgiving so it was pretty empty, thats why I can figure out why they would put another party of 5 guys right next to us. It went from this is perfect to "sorry what you say ". The food was great, our server Justin was great, they gave us a desert with a candle for our Birthday person.
Late afternoon Thanksgiving meal. Classic entree, 5 thick slices, roasted turkey, nicely seasoned. Savory sage and celery dressing. Steamed green beans, french cut with almonds.
Cranberry relish with tiny, whole berries, tart and not too sweet. Rough mashed potatoes, lightly seasoned with a hint of garlic. Accompanied by a 2015 Sicilian light red (Sedara Nero d'Avola) which paired well with the roasted turkey and dressing. Handmade, couple-sized pumpkin pie topped it off. A very satisfying, traditional style, thanksgiving dinner of ample proportions.
Our lunch table for seven was ready for us when we arrived. The service was attentive and the food delicious. We ordered the calimari appetizer and several entrees that ran the gamut of the menu, including the halibut, burger and lunchtime pizza. The portions were just right, if not large, but one of my parents found their Chicken alla Limon lacking in flavor.
I wish we had been able to enjoy the desserts, but we had birthday cake waiting for us at home. I would certainly go back again, but I wish I could have seen risotto on the lunchtime menu
The dining room was cold during our visit. Most of our party wore our coats drapped over us because we were seated below a vent. There was a odd smell when I first walked in. It seemed to get better after awhile. Besides these things, the food and service was good overall. Maybe an off night. I've had good visits in the past here.
This was my first time here and the food was delicious. I had the Tortellacci ai Tre Funghetti (mushroom ravioli) which was delicious and my friend had the Rigatoni del Pastore (Rigatoni with Italian Sausage). We both had gelato for dinner and didn't realize it is two scoops. We could have probably split one. The gelato was delicious! I will be coming here again, it was a wonderful dinner.
Superb dinner & service. Five of us met for diner. We all enjoyed the warm bread/olive oil, the appetizer (calamari), our meals (scallops, salmon, seafood pasta, chicken & pizza), desserts (profiteroles & tiramisu) and drinks (wine, martinis, mixed drinks). The service was very good & attentive. They have beautiful outdoor seating but it was a little cool by the time we arrived. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Every one's food was great. We shared bruchetta and salad. The pasta dish was very good, the chicken lemon was very very good, and the branzino was very very good. Desserts were wonderful too. Casual, not a lot of ambiance, but a nice place to meet friends.
I often go to the Francesca's on Bryn Mawr near where I live...which I love...never disappointed!
So when I found out there was one on 95th near my sisters house there was no hesitation where to go for lunch on a Monday to celebrate my sisters Birthday! We had a great time...staff was great too!
Initial issue but resolved. Our order took almost an hour. Our server had an emergency and had to leave, but we were not informed. Another sever came over after awhile and said he was taking over. We asked him to find out the status of our order twice. We were told 5 to 10 minutes both times. Came to find out our order was never placed by our first server. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager did take care of our check due to the extenuating circumstances. Nicely done on his part. If we were informed initially we would have understood. Communication with the customer is important. I would return to this location because of the goodwill extended.
Tough review to write since we have been eating at this Francesca's since it opened. Friday night was a birthday celebration that started out on a high note and finished on a table full of disappointed folks. Our waiter (who we have had in the past) was very difficult to understand, so when ordering, we asked him to read back our order which he did and the order was incorrect. So we went through the orders again, corrected them and things continued to unravel. I had to remind the waiter to bring out the caprese salad app. Less than 5 minutes after the salad arrived, 2 of the 5 entrees ordered came to the table but only 1 of the entrees was correct. As the other entrees started to show up at the table (one at a time), 3 more were incorrect. We waited a total of 20 minutes for the orders to be corrected and served. In that period of time that we were waiting for our orders, the waiter asked my wife and I if "he could bring us another glass of wine", implying that drinks would be on him and they were not. For the record, the only meal they did get right the first time was the kids chicken strips and fries. While the meal didn't ruin the entire evening, the experience of the meal was extremely disappointing. The manager never did come to our table, so I paid my bill and left.
Sorry Francesca's on 95th, but you lost our business.
My favorite Francesca's restaurant is still Francesca's Vicinato in Palos Park. It is consistently the best restaurant and one of the few on the Southside that I recommend to friends. The flavor and quantity of my pasta at the one on 95th was not on par with the Palos location. The waiter was superb.
