Francesca's on 95th Ratings and Reviews
We 730 pm reservations and waited about 10-15 minutes for a table so we had a Peroni on tap which tasted like a Stella. Nonetheless it tasted very good. Once seated we waited too long for each course. I believe the waitress had too many tables. At the end she came with complimentary “real” strawberry shots with dessert menus but never came back to ask if we wanted dessert. Then it took too long to get the bill because she seemed to disappear. Food was good but not great. My wife was suppose to get linguini oilioto with her chicken and had too ask for it. Just not a good experience.
Valentine’s Day was a bit of a cattle drive at Francesca’s. Way too many single tables crammed into the dining area. Movement was limited. Noise level was up. Wait staff struggled with the extra tables and the configuration. Hardly the quiet romantic atmosphere we were hoping for. Food was good but the somewhat lackluster service hampered the overall experience.
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner at Francesca’s. I had sea bass in creamy saffron sauce, my husband had veal medallions with spinach.. He thought it was superb, very tender veal and the best spinach he ever had. Service was excellent! Nice ambiance, but very noisy, sometimes hard to hear each other. We’ll definitely go back for another excellent meal!
Food and service was excellent and worth the money. The only downside was how loud it was in the restaurant. I didn't even have much conversation with my mom because it was so loud and she is hard of hearing to begin with. Apparently there was a funeral luncheon going on at the same time. I don't know if there is a separate dining space for private functions or not, so maybe this was not something Francesca's staff could control. There is nothing in the restaurant to absorb the sound, but rather high ceilings and exposed duct work which just amplifies sound. I would absolutely go again; however, I would call ahead to make sure there wasn't an event going on when I was looking to go.
We have been a few times and always leave with the same response. The menu is boring and the food is ok. We had the calamari and it was better than average. I had the linguine special with Maine lobster. It was ok. My husband had the filet and he was not wowed. The service was great though.
My husband and I go to Francesca's at 95th St. at least once a month . We just love going there. Everything is always so good and I don't think there's another restaurant that knows how to make fish like francesca's always so tasty and never fishy, yum sooo good.😃
Love Francesca's but the past two times I have been there, it just hasn't lived up to my expectations.
This time, the waiter was rarely around, we were never given specials, never given a choice of soup or salad, two brownish, ice cold salads just arrived at our table.
$14 for a very small portion of calamari. Seemed much more commercial than unique.
I love Francesca's, so Ill give them another try, but they have changed. I did notice it is now referred to as FRG, so I wonder if there has been a change in ownership.
We had a Christmas family get together--we experienced car problems, getting the gifts in the car issues and traffic nightmares. We were horribly late, but Francesca's staff TOTALLY took care of us, despite the changes! I can't thank you guys enough! And the dinner was absolutely DELISH--veal with polenta! Perfect Christmas!!
Needed a place half way between my house and relative in Indiana. I’d been to Francesca’s in elmhurst and thought this would be good. Restaurant had a few Christmas lunches going on but the place wasn’t crowded. The food was good but the service was a little slow. Not sure what happened to our waiter when we were ready to pay so had to leave cash versus credit card.
Server was great, attentive and personable. Busser needs more training. He took food plates without asking if we were done and did not replace the used knife from appetizer with a clean knife for dinner course. Little thing matter otherwise we have never had a bad experience at this Francsecsa. Thank you for your excellent options on the Southside. Not many choices left.
As mentioned in previous reviews, I wish the word "Outstanding" could be replaced with "Excellent" and then I would mark it. There is rarely anything in this world that I would name as outstanding but would view as excellent. Outstanding is too much of a superlative to feel comfortable for a rating. We did have an excellent time, the food was excellent, as well as the wait service. All were above very good; all were excellent.
Our family of four was there for a 40th Birthday, it was Monday after Thanksgiving so it was pretty empty, thats why I can figure out why they would put another party of 5 guys right next to us. It went from this is perfect to "sorry what you say ". The food was great, our server Justin was great, they gave us a desert with a candle for our Birthday person.
Late afternoon Thanksgiving meal. Classic entree, 5 thick slices, roasted turkey, nicely seasoned. Savory sage and celery dressing. Steamed green beans, french cut with almonds.
Cranberry relish with tiny, whole berries, tart and not too sweet. Rough mashed potatoes, lightly seasoned with a hint of garlic. Accompanied by a 2015 Sicilian light red (Sedara Nero d'Avola) which paired well with the roasted turkey and dressing. Handmade, couple-sized pumpkin pie topped it off. A very satisfying, traditional style, thanksgiving dinner of ample proportions.
