Francesca's North Ratings and Reviews
Good food, good service. We made reservations a few weeks in advance for 6 people and were seated 20 minutes late at the worst table in the restaurant. It was located by the server station, the order placing PC and the restrooms. People were constantly running around the table. That table should not be there at all. Sitting there ruined the experience.
Had a reservation via opentable, and my date arrived late. the place was very busy, but they accommodated us almost immediately once she arrived. Service was great; food was delicious. The general manager of the restaurant stopped by our table at least twice to say hello and make sure everything was to our satisfaction.
Decided to go out last minute on a Saturday night, when they had opening we had low expectations. Wow where we surprised-greeted by a warm smile from the host, taken to our table immediately, followed by an amazing meal and great service. We will definitely go back!
Place was packed when we left, I guess we just got lucky to find an opening last minute!
When we arrived, our party of four was seated right next door to a table of 12 ( very noisy) in the back room. We had to ask to be moved but then we were quite close to another very large and noisy party. The service was terrible...our main courses shoved onto our table while we were still eating our salads. My husband’s pasta was ice cold. It took way too long to track down the waiter. Horrible service, absolutely terrible food. We have been patrons if this restaurant since the day it opened but we will not be returning.
The food is always good here, however this time it was very busy and the wrong food came to our table a couple of times. Eventually we did accept the pasta dish, but it was linguine rather than the rigatoni that had been ordered. It was very busy, and perhaps our servers were new. We've been coming here for many years, and will be back.
We went for our third wedding anniversary dinner, and it was a perfect experience from beginning to end. Charming host, excellent serving staff- our server made some fantastic suggestions- and we never felt rushed or forgotten about. The food was dynamite- one of the best meals we have ever had! The halibut was the best piece of fish my husband has ever eaten. For dessert we had tiramisu and profiteroles. If the server tells you they are addictive, believe them. Can't wait to go back!
Good food; terribly noisy ...tables were way too close together. We were seated right next to a very poorly behaved child whose parents had no concern about his behavior...running around. Waiter who we have had before was going thru the motions ...too expensive a meal for us, too rare for us to go out to have this type of experience.
We have always loved all your restaurants and seek them out every time we travel to Chicago. The waiter greated us and provide bread and water. Unfortunately, it took him 12 minutes to come back to us and take our order. Everything was very well prepared exept my Tortellacci con Zucca was cold when they placed it on the table. I told the waiter and he took it back to the kitchen to warm it. When he brought it back, it still really was not well heated through. For $18, it really was not worth ordering. This was very disappointing. We were also sad that your location recently closed in Madison, WI.
I would not recommend this restaurant. We've been there a number of times over the last few years and it just keeps going downhill. We were a party of six, I asked for a quiet table because my father is hard of hearing and they put us smack dab in the middle of the dining room. We waited at least five minutes before anyone approached the table, they took our drink order, and they insisted that we order our salads and soups immediately. Which we did and then they came before our drinks even arrived. Then the entrées took forever to get there. And you would think if they have something as a special it would be delicious. Not so. Everything was just OK. Nothing stood out for us meal wise.
Risotto and one of entries salmon and shrimp with vegetables were bland. Gluten free pasta and gluten free calamri appectizer and the salmon with linguine very good
The waitress was non existent couldn't get drink refills water included and finally another waitress brought check when asked. Our waitress was doing nothing in back of uncrowned restaurant
Extremely unhappy. Arrived on time for a 7:30pm reservation. Was told by the manager it would be a 20 minute wait-mind you we had a reservation. He suggested we have a drink at the bar. No space at the bar. We went to the restaurant next door. They seated us within 10 minutes. It was 21 minute before I received the message from Francesca's WITH a reservation. I ignored it and enjoyed my dinner at 406. Francesca's Manager was unapologetic and unorganized. Don't make customers who have been dining with you since you opened wait 21 minutes past their reservation time and expect to keep them.
As out-of-towners, we Googled "Italian restaurants near me" from our hotel and saw the favorable reviews for Francesca's. Also, they could accommodate a party of 6 on very short notice. We were wow'ed. The service and the food were fabulous. And the vibe was really welcoming -- clearly a neighborhood favorite for locals. Strongly recommend.
Francesca's is slipping, not what is used to be. We went on a busy night, but that's no excuse for service that is overworked. Our waiter had little time for our table, and when he was there it was clear he wanted to move on as quickly as possible. Dinner was a series of long waits and rushed moments. The food was good, but some of the pasta was hard, as if it sat too long beneath a heat lamp waiting for the other dishes at our table., and the flavors a bit bland. The carpaccio was too thin and because it's prepared earlier in the day, it stuck to the plate.
Francesca's was a place for special meals, celebrations or important get-togethers. It's still a step above the pasta houses in town, but the food is less "fine dining" and more average Italian.
Really nice authentic Italian food, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good service. The mozzarella on the bruschetta tasted incredibly fresh, the pizzas were good and the Merlot we had was nice. We arrived at 6.00 and it was quite quiet, by 7.00 it was almost full and was still busy at 8.00. We are really happy to have found this place, we will definitely be returning in the near future.
I have been here many times. The food is very good but the tables are very close together. My father uses a walker and we can no longer get into the restaurant comfortably. Also because the tables are so close together the noise level tends to get loud especially on the weekends.
The food was absolutely delicious...The beet salad was the best and the grilled Salmon with Asparagus was fabulous...even ordered and split a side of wedge potatoes..All in all we had a delightful evening..noise level is high, but we had a round table and it worked fine...
While I understand that accidents do happen, I was disappointed that we did not receive a phone call that the restaurant could not honor our reservation because of some kind of "accident" which closed the restaurant for the day.
Heard nothing of this until we arrived to find the door locked and a handwritten sign saying the restaurant was closed, but would reopen the next day.
Have always been happy with the food and service in the past and I'm sure we be back in the near future.
