Our favorite local restaurant! Great staff, always friendly and accommodating. Love that the menu changes frequently. The bar is a favorite of ours for small plates and great conversation. 👍👍🍸🍷
Being Valentine’s Day, it was refreshing not to be forced to order off of a special menu. We had drinks, dinner and bread. All delicious and great service!
Server was great, bought us a drink because they were busy and we had to wait a little, but really wasn't long at all, he was great and took very good care of us.
Francesca's never fails to please. Our server Morgan was delightful and very attentive. The South Barrington location is warm, welcoming and feels like home.
Lovely date night with my husband. We had a nice table, had good service and the food (pasta with braised short ribs and pasta with seafood) and wine were very good. My seafood pasta was prepared as requested vs. as described on the menu. Bread was served hot out of the oven. Wine was also very good.
Upon arrival, restaurant was very busy. I was surprised as I made an early reservation thinking I would miss the rush. Server was quick to arrive and take our drink order. Drinks were a bit slow to arrive, but once that was behind us, service was good. Wine list was well rounded with plenty of good options. Food menu offered a good selection and the server had no issues with us sharing our dishes. Dessert was awesome. Overall, a very pleasant experience!
Out of town family visit
Really good overall experience
Food was good , authentic Italian
I've been dining here for the last several years. Great Italian food selection, good wine selection (need more New Zealand-Cab Sauv) and wait staff on top of their game. I never give 5-Stars out of habit but this dining establishment comes very close. FYI, Open Table availability changes with number of attendees in your party. Thank-you.
Always a fantastic meal at Francesca's. Great service and a really nice experience. Vibe of the restaurant is similar to restaurants in Italy. Always enjoy dining at Francesca's.
Been to many Francesca's locations I was there for my anniversary & was a little startled at first when thy didn't seem to have my reservation, they did however get us seated quickly.
The waiter came over after a few minutes & seemed unprepared for us, he fumbled around a bit, lit a candle, then said he would be back to get our drink orders & bring us water, 10 minutes went by before I had to go and ask for water. We placed our drink order & when drinks came we orders appetizers. At this time I was asking about entrees, specifically the skate wing. Now whenever I have asked about a menu item at any restaurant the waiter has told me about its taste, texture, how fresh it is, thing it is similar to etc.. Not this guy he took out a pen & drew a half circle on the table cloth & said "it looks kind of like this."
Shortly after this bread was brought to the table, but no oil which appears to be brought out with bread at every other table. After trying multiple times to get our waiter's attention I asked a busboy.
Our appetizers came shortly, but our waiter had never come back so we were done with them before we even ordered dinner. Dinner came & he never came over to ask how everything was, so our drinks were empty through most of dinner. When he did finally come back and ask about drinks he disappeared for 25 minutes. Came by again and asked if we wanted more drinks, like he completely forgotten that he was supposed to bring them 20 minutes ago. By the time we actually got our drinks we were done eating.
He seemed to know people at every table including table that weren't his. Spent most of the night exchanging hugs and stories with them. 5 min to get seated, 15-20 to get water, 45 before appetizers came, over an hour before we ordered dinner, had to track down the busboy for water, oil, a knife... Overall he seemed put out by having to deal with us, won't go back to this location.
We were seated promptly and courteously. Our server was attentive and willing to describe the specials available. Food was delicious and hot. A very nice meal in a very nice restaurant.
Love sitting at the bar and having dinner. Moses is a terrific bartender and usually has a pretty good opinion about the wine we are asking about.
One of my favorite places to eat. Never disappointing.
Excellent food, excellent wait staff. Only complaint is that despite our reservation; us and many other diners still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated- to the point where the bar and entire waiting area and entryway were completely packed solid. It was New Year’s Eve, but 30-45 minutes is really behind and complicated our plans afterwards. However, once we were seated- everything was truly excellent.
Considering it was New Years Eve, everything about the evening was great. Friendly server, excellent food etc. It was rather noisy, but it was an exceptionally busy night.
It was an early New Year’s Eve dinner. I had a delicious lobster bisque followed by a lousy Caesar’s salad. For my main course, I had the dinner special which was Pasta Aragosta. When it was delivered it smelled very fishy. Good fresh seafood should have no overpowering smell. I should have known right there not to eat it.
My wife had a sautéed shrimp appetizer not properly or fully cooked, a good chopped wedge salad. For her main course, she had sea bass drowned in cream sauce. She removed the sea bass and placed it in her salad bowl and it was then OK.
For dessert, we had the worst chocolate creme brûlée, which tasted like bland instant pudding. We sent the dessert back and it was taken off the bill. The server, Liberato was very professional but the food was not good.
Later that night and for most of New Year’s Day I was weak and ill with a painful stomach which I attribute to the pasta seafood entree. There you go.
We chose Francesca's for a New Year's Eve dinner with our three young children. They were excited to eat at a "fancy" restaurant. They have a great kids menu with options like grilled cheese, chicken tenders, and of course pizza and pasta.
Excellent food and service
It was just ok.
It was a great place but the pasta was a bit dry and had no Taste
Deserts and kids stuff was awesome
Christmas takeout was booming which looked like it got in the way of dining patrons.
Order a specialty drink. Second round was missing the first rounds ingredients by a gap. Caesar salad was watery and sent it back. Manager passed along a message through the waiter that “sometimes that happens when we don’t drain it enough”.
Disappointed in the menu selection overall for the price of the entrees and sides. First time and last time for a visit. I would suggest concentrating on one or the other in the future. Either takeout or inside diners. Looked like the crew could not handle both.
Francesca’s is one of our favorite restaurants! The food is delicious and the service is outstanding!
Server was excellent. Very entertaining! Drinks and food were great. Went on Christmas Eve and did not feel rushed at all. Great night
Enjloyed the food. Wish we still had one in West Dundee. A bit far for us so we don’t frequent this restaurant as much as we would like to
Went for Christmas dinner - 3:45 reservation. The food and ambiance was good, as was the service but it felt rushed. This is to be expected on a holiday, but when you go so early it seems it should be as fast paced. Other than that, it was excellent.
Great! Wonderful Zuppa de pesce. Our server was knowledgeable about the food and wine selections
I went with my dad for a nice dad/daughter dinner. We hadn’t been to dinner just the two of us in ages. It was perfect! Our server, Joy went above and beyond! I’m gluten free due to celiac disease. At the end of our meal I had left overs and Joy had prepared an extra loaf of the complimentary gluten free bread for me to take with my left overs. That was unexpected and SO sweet. I myself am a server and I cannot tell you how amazing Joy was, ask for her!! The appetizers and meals we both got were phenomenal- the asparagus pasta dish (can’t remember the name), the pizza, the calamari and the potato leek soup. The creme brûlée was something I’ll definitely be craving. Overall highly recommend.
Really excellent food and service.
It was extremely noisy in there. It was hard to hear the person sitting across the table from you.
We have visited the Barrington Francesca's location on many occasions because it reliably has good quality... HOWEVER, this time the Salmon was so over cooked it was crunchy! In addition the serving size was extremely small on my fish as well as our friends' fish. This was not what we were used to seeing at Francesca's.
Never disappointed on the tasty food. By far one of my favorite places to eat. I ordered soup heisantily for I feel few restaurants know how to cook soup. So delicious. Every time I eat there I walked away full and satisfied.
Nice spot for a business meeting. In fact, many tables were filled with business meetings.
The waitress was definitely cognizant of the fact that my meeting was a business meeting and she didn't interrupt us much. Given that, though, getting ordered was hard on both of us because at first we werent ready and ordered an appetizer and then she didn't come back and get our order for a long while. It was okay though.
The food was good. He ordered the Italiana salad and I ordered the salad with seared scallops. I don't know how his was but he ate it all. I got to the last scallops and shrimp (which by the way, I didn't realize was on the salad. At first,I was dismayed because shrimp can be fishy tasting if not fresh) and I was so GLAD there was shrimp because it had tasted fresh the whole time. It was the last couple scallops that were fishy tasting and I didn't enjoy the last couple bites. But, that happens with scallops and shrimp, obviously. The salad itself was very tasty!
We also got the bruschetta appetizer and that was incredible!! I would go for that and a glass of wine anytime!!
Always a pleasure dining here. Service is always very good and food is always great as well.
Normally everything is very good. For some reason on Saturday we felt very rushed to get in and get out. Service was only OK when it is usually very good. Not sure since there were open tables and no one waiting for the rush on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Were there for Thanksgiving and the food was authentic Thanksgiving fare and very good. The staff treated us well and not like we were an intrusion on a Holiday. We always recommend Francesca's Famiglia when asked for a good restaurant in Barrington!
Terrific dining experience, as always. My wife and I consider Francesca's Famiglia in Barrington our "go-to" place for a great meal and a welcoming atmosphere!
The service was exceptional and the food was delicious with a nice variety on the menu. Will definitely go back!
