I went with my dad for a nice dad/daughter dinner. We hadn’t been to dinner just the two of us in ages. It was perfect! Our server, Joy went above and beyond! I’m gluten free due to celiac disease. At the end of our meal I had left overs and Joy had prepared an extra loaf of the complimentary gluten free bread for me to take with my left overs. That was unexpected and SO sweet. I myself am a server and I cannot tell you how amazing Joy was, ask for her!! The appetizers and meals we both got were phenomenal- the asparagus pasta dish (can’t remember the name), the pizza, the calamari and the potato leek soup. The creme brûlée was something I’ll definitely be craving. Overall highly recommend.
Really excellent food and service.
It was extremely noisy in there. It was hard to hear the person sitting across the table from you.
We have visited the Barrington Francesca's location on many occasions because it reliably has good quality... HOWEVER, this time the Salmon was so over cooked it was crunchy! In addition the serving size was extremely small on my fish as well as our friends' fish. This was not what we were used to seeing at Francesca's.
Never disappointed on the tasty food. By far one of my favorite places to eat. I ordered soup heisantily for I feel few restaurants know how to cook soup. So delicious. Every time I eat there I walked away full and satisfied.
Nice spot for a business meeting. In fact, many tables were filled with business meetings.
The waitress was definitely cognizant of the fact that my meeting was a business meeting and she didn't interrupt us much. Given that, though, getting ordered was hard on both of us because at first we werent ready and ordered an appetizer and then she didn't come back and get our order for a long while. It was okay though.
The food was good. He ordered the Italiana salad and I ordered the salad with seared scallops. I don't know how his was but he ate it all. I got to the last scallops and shrimp (which by the way, I didn't realize was on the salad. At first,I was dismayed because shrimp can be fishy tasting if not fresh) and I was so GLAD there was shrimp because it had tasted fresh the whole time. It was the last couple scallops that were fishy tasting and I didn't enjoy the last couple bites. But, that happens with scallops and shrimp, obviously. The salad itself was very tasty!
We also got the bruschetta appetizer and that was incredible!! I would go for that and a glass of wine anytime!!
Always a pleasure dining here. Service is always very good and food is always great as well.
Normally everything is very good. For some reason on Saturday we felt very rushed to get in and get out. Service was only OK when it is usually very good. Not sure since there were open tables and no one waiting for the rush on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Were there for Thanksgiving and the food was authentic Thanksgiving fare and very good. The staff treated us well and not like we were an intrusion on a Holiday. We always recommend Francesca's Famiglia when asked for a good restaurant in Barrington!
Terrific dining experience, as always. My wife and I consider Francesca's Famiglia in Barrington our "go-to" place for a great meal and a welcoming atmosphere!
The service was exceptional and the food was delicious with a nice variety on the menu. Will definitely go back!
We had a lovely business lunch here. The food, especially the butternut squash soup, was excellent. Loved the lunchtime combo options. Would definitely recommend!
Poor service. Had to flag down the waiter every time we needed something. Pasta wasn’t very hot. Server recommended most expensive wine of course. Service ruined the whole experience.
Service was poor, seemed like the server forgot about us. Also was extremely loud, it was difficult to carry on a conversation.
Food was lacking flavor.
Great ambiance, service and food! Will definitely go back again.
We’ve been here many times with wonderful service and mostly always great food. Our latest visit lived up to previous visits except for the noise level. It was “daddy/daughter” night and believe me, the chatter was so loud and distracting that the table next to us called their waitperson over to complain. They reached over and asked us if we were also bothered and commented that they were going to leave if it continued.
The “daddy’s” were sitting right next to the daughters but not concerned about the noise!!
Thankfully, they were leaving soon (or we were leaving soon)!
Francesca needs to be seating these age groups in a more private setting where they can be as loud as their age group needs without disturbing dining room customers.
This restaurant had a professional environment with a relaxed crowd. The service and food were very good.
Always great food and prompt service. Francesca's is a go-to business lunch spot for me in the suburbs, does not disappoint.
Made a reservation for Francesca's and indicated it was our anniversary on the Open Table reservation. We have spent past anniversaries (as well as holidays) at Francesca's and know what to expect. This night did not live up to our expectations.
Server was slow to greet us from the start. We were seated in the annexed party room with two other tables so we figured he was working two rooms. But not great to feel like an afterthought, especially when we were celebrating a special occasion.
Order was taking incredibly long. Server said he was going to go back in the kitchen and "beat some heads." Came back after awhile (by now we've been waiting for over an hour, one chicken dish, one pasta dish) and said the kitchen lost our order, he would tell the manager so they could make it right. Brought soup out that we didn't ask for, but as an attempt to pacify us while we waited for our food. Food came out, never saw the manager. While we were eating, server asked if "it was worth the wait" - Not really.
After finishing our meal we were the only table left in the party room and just wanted our check. Finally server came back and asked if we had room for dessert because it was on the house. We said no, check please. Past anniversaries Francesca's brought out a piece of cake with Happy Anniversary on the plate. Maybe this was what he was suggesting, but he never mentioned our anniversary. Would have been nice for him to offer to box it up for us -- or since we didn't take him up on the free dessert, offer to comp our two glasses of wine.
We live in the neighborhood and have frequented Francesca's for many special occasions. Not on our list for the next one.
Very fresh and love the seasonal menu! Great appetizers too.
Francesca's Famiglia never disappoints. Always excellent service and delicious choices.
My go to place to get wonderful freshly made flavorful meals is Francesca's. The chef's are outstanding and the dishes are tasty and never a disappointment. By far one of my favorite restaurant's. Gino the waiter was excellent and all the service was excellent. If you want a good meal with excellent service you will not be disappointed.
Good food, but loud noise from banquet room with a wedding!
Excellent restaurant. You can easily dress up or go casual. The staff is attentive and I’ve never had a bad meal.
Great as always, love Francesca's!
Good food and service. Very noisy, hard to converse at our table.
Greeted at the door with a smile, by name and an opened door!
Always enjoy this restaurant for not only the food, but the wait staff is always
attentive, but never intrusive. This was a Sunday lunch with our granddaughter
and sisters and proved to be a very enjoyable experience.
Casual luncheon for six ladies - food was great, service was outstanding and nice ambience overall
This was the second time we visited for dinner. The first visit was about a year ago. This was just as enjoyable as the first. We promise that our next visit will be a lot sooner.
Very nice food... wonderful service! Good wine selection.
We continue to enjoy Francesca's. Our server was good, but had to be reminded a few times for things we had asked to have.
It would be good if the outdoor area could be sprayed for bugs. Both my husband and I found that our ankles and lower legs were getting bit often.
Good Italian food. Menu choices vary daily but there is always something good. Nice appetizers and salads.
It was fabulous. First time to this location. Have been to chestnut street many many times, Lake Forest a handful of times, Lakeview.. a few times. And Taylor street as well. We are thrilled to have one in Barrington now that we have moved out of the city!
Love the carpaccio & Quattro Staggioni for starters!!
We also had pasta with shrimp & scallops- that too was amazing!! Will be back again soon!!
Always have a nice meal st Francesca’s. The fish is always fresh and dessert is fabulous. We had the frozen sundae. Amazing!
Never disappoints! This is a local favorite. Best dishes are the calamari, asparagus salad, carpaccio appetizer, pizzas, any of the fish, lasagna
Excellent food and wine - highly recommended
We frequent Francesca’s
Francesca’s is predictable in the good sense: good, attentive service, interesting limited but seasonal menu, good price for dining. We were here this time for a good-bye lunch for family, and everyone found something they liked on the menu and really enjoyed the meal. This is our most frequently visited location, but we also like the restaurants in West Dundee and Lake Forest.
This is our second somewhat disappointing experience at this Francesca’s location. We expect better from this chain!
On Mother’s Day we went for brunch; for the price we expected excellence and variety and did not feel either was in order.
On this visit, the manager offered us an appetizer on the house which showed up on the bill... My husband requested veal prepared in a way he’d had here before and liked (even showed the server and manager a photo), and it was served the way he didn’t want it.
Server seemed to have too many tables. Seem to be in a rush. Music is not appropriate for the type of restaurant. Rock music!? Nice Italian music would be nice.
