Foundry On Elm Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely fabulous! Best restaurant meal in a long time. DELICIOUS! We over ordered and I really wanted to take home the leftovers because sooo good, but we were going to a show. They saved our leftovers and we came back after to pick them up. They just rocked it.
Really nice gastropub with excellent food. The wine list is good (for a pub) and there is a good beer selection, with testing flights. The hummus platter and kale caesar were both terrific. The spatzle vegetarian entree was so-so, but the cod and the chicken were outstanding. The food is an excellent value for the money.
I ordered a French onion soup which was good, and a chicken Cobb salad. The salad was an entree salad and was $16 for what I assumed would be a nice sized salad. What I received was pathetic. I was really craving a big green salad, so my husband kindly ask the waiter for some extra mixed greens. He served then brought over less than a handful of greens...the whole thing was pathetic. The sever could have quickly corrected what he saw was a disappointed customer by bribing me an ample amount of greens and instead just added insult to injury. I left upset and hungry. Won't be going back.
The charcuterie plate that we ordered as an appetizer took forever to come out - and then when it did our entrees were served 2 minutes later. My entree was overly salty. The rest of the food was OK but over priced for the quality. Went because of the star rating but won't go back.
We had dinner after the movies on a Saturday night. Table was ready when we arrived. The place was lively and noisy (and stayed that way throughout dinner). Service was friendly with great timing. The menu has a good variety of dinners, apps, sandwiches, something for everyone, without seeming to try too hard to please everyone. Three out of four dinners were excellent. The fourth, bolognese, needed more sauce. After dinner coffee was great, served in oversized cups. Definitely would return and recommend.
It was very good. We enjoyed our dinner, the only criticism anyone in our group had was my boyfriend did not love the sauce on the Milanese. Hopefully that can easily be put on the side. The chicken sandwich my friend got and the burger and truffle fries I had were very good.
I'm five for five over the last two weeks. Great food and fun! Hot food is HOT. Cold food is cold. On a Sunday afternoon, the manager asked if I would like to see the basement "speakeasy" that was then closed. She brought me down, turned on the lights and showed me their semi-secret whiskey tasting bar. Love the place!
Food was decent, nothing spectacular, but pleasant enough. We had mussels, pizzas, poutine, oysters, cod, chicken, pork, steak, burgers. Of what I tried, the pizzas stood out the most. What drove down the rating of this experience was the service and ambiance. We had a reservation for 8 and seemed to be placed in the worst table in the restaurant by the kitchen. It's not an open kitchen, we just had a lot of foot traffic from the others servers (not ours) and had not much to look at except a black wall. The front of the restaurant is definitely the more eye pleasing area with the beautiful bar and open windows to the street front. Lastly, our service was pretty poor. Our server was rarely around, never cleared dishes, took forever to refill water, and took beer orders that never showed up. If I were to return, I'd recommend grabbing a spot at the bar or a high top with a small party.
Multiple visits over last few years. This one was least satisfying. Wings, which in the past had been commendable if not great, were barely OK. They had never served buffalo-wing type but always tasty nonetheless. This time no seasoning but salt and a few of the wings were very tough - which was way-creepy. Also ordered the pork belly pizetta. It had a river of 1000 Island Dressing circling the chunks of pork belly. No clue what it was doing there but detracted mightily from the experience. Will prolly return because of the location and earlier memories but a bit concerned...
Crab cake appetizer was very tasty,as was the pasta bolognese . Pork milanese was over cooked, on the dry side. No complaints about service either, it was quite busy. However because it is so incredibly loud I wouldn't choose to dine here again. I would only recommend to those who are looking for a young and very lively crowd. Perhaps weeknights are less rowdy, we dined on a Saturday.
We took my husband to the Foundry's Sunday brunch for Father's Day. It was our first time there. The buffet offerings were fabulous! From yummy beignets and sinful mac n' cheese with sautéed veggies, to a carving station and omelets made to order; we enjoyed every last bite. And...they had a live guitarist and special $5 cocktails for Dads, how nice! Totally recommend it.
The Foundry in Davis Square was great for dinner, but with friends in town I thought that I would try it for Sunday brunch. It did not disappoint! Even though the room is relatively small, they laid out a really good buffet that included both breakfast and lunch selections. A good looking prime rib roast at the carving and omelet station, salad makings, meats and cheese platter, biegnets and sauce, eggs , delicious bacon and very tasty sausages , scones, juice, coffee and because it was Father's Day, excellent bloody Marys for $5. An extravagant brunch for $20!
Definitely returning to try some of their other breakfast offerings' I had an early reservation so even parking wasn't a problem. With the T right down the street, you may want to leave the car at home.
Great fun place. One vegan option, a few vegetarian options, but they are great dishes so worth going with non-veg friends. Food is great, atmosphere is great. If you want serious conversation without a lot of noise, ask for a table in the back. Still a great atmosphere but you can get away from the party noise. On the other hand there is a great party vibe in the rest of the place.
