Founders Inn Swan Terrace Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food, atmosphere and service were outstanding! We enjoyed something called their Colonial Buffet, which was a holiday buffet for the Christmas Season. From being greeted at the door, to being seated by the window to see the holiday lights outside, to the scrumptious buffet, and the excellent service I know I'll return on another occasion.
Made reservations and accommodated immediately upon our arrival.
Filet Mignon entree
Seated in a nice seat by the window. Ordered filet mignon and salmon. Bread arrived with balls of butter on a dish. The butter dish was a coffee cup saucer. Trying for an upscale look, but failed with the saucer as the butter dish. Personally, I don't really care. Just thought I'd mention for those who do. Salmon in sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and vegetable medley were delicious. Reasonably priced at $20.00. The filet was VERY small. Much smaller than anticipated. Isn't advertised as a petite filet either, but it was very, very small. Ordered medium, but it was served well-done. Returned to kitchen for a new filet. Enjoyed salmon while my better half patiently waited. Finished my salmon dinner. Server offered soup or salad while we waited for filet. I asked for She Crab Soup when the filet was served. Both finally arrived, but it was about 15 minutes AFTER I had finished my salmon. We knew this filet might also be overcooked knowing how long it had been since it was re-ordered. When the second filet arrived, it was cooked identical to the first one. We asked for a manager, and the manager (Katherine) was very quick to get to the table. She asked for the steak to be cut down the center; which also showed that the filet was over-cooked. In agreement that the filet was cooked well-done, she offered to make things right. We didn't want to wait around for a third opportunity, so we politely refused. She did provide us with a complimentary brunch the following day. The lunch items at the brunch buffet were very good. Stay away from the breakfast items on the hot bar. Most, including the scrambled eggs, were cold.
First of all we were disappointed that there was no seafood buffet, my bad I guess I didn’t get the memo they had discontinued it this summer. Ok, so we ordered from the menu and the food was good. Apparently the heat wasn’t working so we wore our jackets through our meal. It was also way to noisy for mom who wears a hearing aid to hear anything since we were seated next to the very noisy kitchen. Overall the food was good and the service was good and they apologized for the lack of the seafood buffet and gave us a discount card for the Italian buffet night. A for effort!
We've been to the Swan Terrace for brunch many times and we've kept going back because it's been great. But...this past Sunday, they were a bit off their game, so to speak. Omelet was undercooked, beef was iffy, etc. Hopefully, this time was an anomaly and not a trend.
The staff was very accommodating to our party of 6 by moving the table to a spot not as close to the hostess station. The food, appetizer (soup) and entrees were cold, not even lukewarm. When something was said to the waitress about the soup, she apologized but obviously made no effort to make sure the entrees were hot. Nice touch for the two birthday ladies,, 2 coconut cakes. 3 coffees were ordered but no one got them.
Great restaurant, however I didn't realize they only offered the Pasta buffet on Tuesdays. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday specifically for their menu items. We were very disappointed when we realized you could not order off the menu. I went back and checked the website and did not see that Tuesday's did not offer their menu anywhere on the website. The pasta buffet had a great selection and the service was great, however it was overpriced. I would love to try the restaurant again when they offer their full menu.
Sat outside for Sunday brunch which was great, it allowed us to enjoy the gardens. The restaurant itself is a hotel restaurant. A little dated, but clean and most people were smartly dressed in church wear. There was live piano music and for a buffet the food was good, with a nice selection & variety. The staff was very nice and approachable. Overall an enjoyable experience & I would return for brunch.
The lunch was very tasty! The environment was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Keep in mind we were dining for lunch on a weekday at this particular time. I have dined with the Swan Terrace Grill a few times before where it has been busy and the staff are just as friendly and the food is still really yummy!
The food was a typical hotel buffet. It wasn't crowded - which was a plus - so there wasn't a wait to walk through the buffet or order your omelet.
Despite having a reservation, no one greeted us at the door and it took a while to get seated.
There was only one waitress servicing the entire dining room so the service was pleasant, but slow.
Celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary, staying at Founders Inn and dining in at Swann Terrace. Without a doubt, our best weekend experience to date! Everything from registration to checkout was par excellant. We had a five star dining experience on 6/17/17 , Chef Angel prepared our New Zeland Lamb Chops to perfection. Thanks again for a most memerable anniversary weekend.
My wife and I dine at Swan Terrace about three or four times a year. This past Friday night was wonderful. I had the Founders Cut and my wife had the Atlantic Salmon. The staff was alert and personal. It was a great evening and we will do it again next month.
We went to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. The description on Open Table made it sound awesome. But it couldn't have been further from the truth! The description indicated that on Thursday nights there was a seafood buffet. We wanted seafood but not necessarily a buffet. We thought we'd look at it and if we weren't interested we would just order off the menu. It also said the dress code was smart casual. I put on a summer dress, my husband a button down shirt and dress pants. We show up to a musty smelling place where everybody is wearing shorts and shirts. Then they tell us there's a burger bar buffet that also includes chicken and steak kabobs, salad bar and desserts. As we walk across the room, the carpet is so old and dirty that my sandals kept sticking to it! The hardwood floor was no better! And the table was gross and sticky! We were then told that we couldn't order from the menu, we could only do the buffet. We really should have left, it was awful! I'm not sure why it has 4.5 stars in the reviews. Even if the food was good, which it wasn't (tough steak, under cooked chicken, canned pork and beans), the place was grossly filthy!!! I will never set foot in that place again! Open Table you need to re-evaluate the description!
Restaurant did not honor our reservation because it was closed (special occasion). Manager was extremely rude and told us it was our fault for missing their cancellation phone call that morning, literally minutes before we were scheduled to be there. Manager then lied about rebooking us later in the day. Completely ruined the Mother's Day I had planned for my wife. Spend your money elsewhere.
I come here for brunch often on special occasions.. However, when i came yestersay, i mentioned on phone that it was my anniversary and they agreed to give a "happy anniversary" dessert , but they forgot. I did not mention it to the waiter, because i thought he would bring it with thw check but never did. So i left disappointed .
Amazing! I brought my family for Sunday brunch. Everything was so delicious. They made omelettes, there was waffles, pancakes, potatoes, chicken, fruit, desserts, you name it, they had it. Emily was our server and she is WONDERFUL! Everyone was so attentive and pleasant. We cannot wait to go back!
Wound up going for dinner instead of lunch. Buffet style
Dinner not as mentioned on open table. Very disappointed. Chicken very dry. Pasta station was good. Salad bar very basic and limited. Salmon honey also very dry and looked like it had been out for awhile. Restaurant was cold and a little too bright for a nice quiet dinner. Not very impressed and misled by previous reviews by people who obviously don't dine out too often.
