Foundation Room House of Blues Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
I have been coming to Foundation room on every visit to Vegas, about 2-3 times a year. Love the place.. I brought a few friends that had never been. I had built up the place, talking about how good it was. On this trip the incense was overpowering, drinks took forever to get to us and the food was not so good at all. I actually had a better steak at a BBQ place the next day.. I'm sorry to say I am very disappointed in our latest trip. Not sure I'll make such an effort to go back next time.
Even after all of these years the Foundation Room continues to impress. I've only had the pleasure of dining here twice, but attending functions several other times. The restaurant facilities here are truly outstanding, with a fine delicious menu of gourmet meals. After dinner you can retire to the balcony that overlooks the entire strip. When I made the reservation I failed to note it was exactly 1 month after the mass shooting affair, but in all honesty I am all to happy to support Mandalay Bay as it continues to be one of my favorite places in Las Vegas and they had nothing to do with the affair so should not be suffering for it.
So disappointed. After years of hearing about the famous Foundation Room I cannot tell you how disappointed I was with the majority of the evening. The host was wonderful the ride up to the top floor great. Table and view were okay. The service was god awful. We waited and waited all night long for service. They rarely came by and when they did you had to stop them to get their attention. Three servers, 7 tables and the worst service of my life. How is that possible? It seems they are under new management, the house of blues isn't really known for their high end dining or service so maybe that had something to do with it. Either way I won't ever be back. I recommend that for the price (it's pricey) you go somewhere with servers and management interested in the guest. High end prices, fast food service.
Great place. Incredible food. Friendly, attentive wait staff. We had only been in once before about 5 months ago, but we were recognized, and that was amazing. The interior was all to my taste, so I love it, and the view of the strip from the balcony is amazing. Brought our friends this time to show off this incredible find. We'll be back!
This was my second visit, because the first time was enjoyable
Unfortunately, this time we were extremely disappointed and they completely failed
The server disappeared continually for over 20 min at a time, i had to ask for a manager, who said she would come over and never did
It was obvious, they could care less
The steak was dangerously undercooked and there was no remorse for the lack of service
I made it clear that i will never be back
Love this place. Situated on top of Mandalay Bay, with insane views of the Strip from the attached patio. Service is excellent. Food is amazing. Started with a Wedge salad, then had the Sea Bass. Wow. Eager to do that again when I return. So tender and prepared with so much flavor. Finished with the berries, with Creme Anglais on the side. Room is normally energetic, but I arrived close to closing, so it was pretty quiet.
We had a late dinner after traveling from the east coast. Food and service were excellent. It was a shame that we were too tired to enjoy it because it is very expensive. The view from the outdoor area is worth the trip, but there aren't any designated smoking areas so we didn't stay to enjoy it.
Our waiters Sean and Otto were excellent.
GOOD. 3 Stars. Mixed Review. Prior time was 5 Stars. LONGER VERSION: This is my 5th time to Foundation Room for dinner, and each of the first four times it was between 4 and 5 stars. Very good to excellent. This time it slipped a bit to GOOD, with a mixed review. SERVICE: We were seated promptly at a table with a great view (as requested via OpenTable.) Our cocktail and food service was FAIR, the waiter started out great, but by the time the salads arrived, became AWOL through most of the meal. My wine for the meal arrived late. It was not crowded, perhaps only 3 other tables, so I didn't get the service this time. COCKTAILS and WINE: My companion is a former Thai chef, and she ordered the Mai Tai which she found Excellent. I had a martini and a white wine by the glass which were each Very Good. Nice selection of cocktails here, and the wine list is what you would expect for a higher end Vegas place. FOOD: We shared the Caesars Salad which was Very Good - nothing special, but tasty. My date had the Shrimp appetizer with sauce for her entree - Very Good report. I had the Sea Bass which I would put as Fair. One side was charred, the other under cooked. I did not finish it, nor did I report it - time was becoming a factor. As I mentioned, my wine (which I ordered as we were having our salad), did not arrive until I was almost done with my entree. OVERALL: Foundation Room has been a "go to" place in the past for me - great views, usually great service and the food is on par with the top 20 restaurants in Vegas. This time it slipped. Would we go back? Probably. BAR SCENE: On weekends it is PACKED, with a bit of a 30's crowd.
Absolutely love this place. The people and the service are second to none. I feel incredibly well taken care of. The food is delicious and creative. And then there's the view when you step out onto the patio - being on the top floor of Mandalay Bay looking right down the Strip is amazing. After dark is the best time. I'll return in 3 weeks on my next trip out there!
The views from the bar are truly spectacular. Having been for drinks before, we went for dinner this time. The prices are reflective of the views however, there wasn't much of a view from the restaurant. The steak was around $64 but was huge and just lovely - my partner and I could have shared it! Will definitely return. It's a really charming place overall.
Extremely disappointing. We were looking for a high end option to celebrate our 2 birthdays. First, service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was only about half full. Hoping that the food would make up for the slow service but no.
Started with the Seared Jumbo Shrimp. Nothing jumbo about it. Just 2 small shrimp. No value for $21. The Cajun lemon beurre blanc that the shrimp were presented in was excellent. Unfortunately the best part of the meal.
First entree Skuna Bay Salmon, over cooked, dry and fishy. At 40 bucks a pop save your money.
Second entree Pan Seared Diver Scallops, better, but not by much. These too were over prepared.
Bottom line, my wife and I don't have problem spending money on dining out, and we even expect to pay a little more considering the venue. But, if your going to charge me a $170 out the door, please make it a dinner worth eating.
We made reservations a week before our arrival. They did call to confirm that we would be there. We were seated at a lovely table BUT everything else was downhill from there. The table area was so dark we used cell phone lights to see the menu. Our waiter tried but based on the caliber of the restaurant wasn't up to snuff...we have waiters in Arkansas that are better at getting it right. Two of the couples got an appetizer, which was delicious but my husband's steak was meh at best, we get better meat in Arkansas and certainly better prepared at Logan's, Longhorn or even Outback. I ordered a salad and truffle fries and had to ask for the truffle fries twice to of course receive them cold. Staff isn't trained well, side to serve, side to take away... One of the other people asked for coffee and it took 3 requests to get it. I just have to say that it was surprisingly disappointing!!!!! And with the disappointment, WAY OVERPRICED.
They brought us a different vintage than the menu and expected to charge the same price. We pointed it out prior to drinking the wine and they still charged us for it. Worse they sent in the somm to pick another bottle and then acted like they were changing the bottle until we had both open then they refused to remove the bottle. Ray Ochoa the "manager" came out to tell us there was nothing he could do regardless of bringing the wrong vintage and the wine being horrible.
The location, ambiance, THE VIEW all make this a great restaurant for special occasions. The food, not so much - it is okay, but considering price, the food is better from many of the other Vegas restaurants in the same price range (Rose Rabbit Lie, Giada's, Eiffel Tower, Top Of The World, etc). We arrived at 7:20 and ordered within fifteen minutes, but did not get served until 9pm despite telling them we were going to the Micheal Jackson One show at 9:30. We are locals and have been going to The Foundation Room since 2008, when they were private, and may continue going there just because you can't beat that view of The Strip and the ambiance is amazing - but we may just go to the bar in the future if it doesn't improve.
Easy reservations; great service from the check in, to hostess, to waiter. Beautiful view from deck. Food was disappointing: pork belly was overcooked and inedible; coffee was bitter and not-hot, and absolutely over-priced for the quality. Prices inconsistent: hand-crafted mutiple-ingredient cocktails were $16, but micro-pours of Lillet liqueur over ice were $15? Wine list provided good options and reasonable pricing. So my review would be: "If you prioritize ambiance and service over food quality, you won't be disappointed in the least."
I'm so disappointed! This is one of my favorite places to eat in Vegas. The food is usually phenomenal. We were seated in one of the back dining rooms, which is fine, but the air conditioner was on full blast (the table cloths were moving!) and blowing directly on us. We asked several times to have that fixed, but the response was, "We've called down, but it will take 20 minutes." BS. Walk your butt down to where ever "down" is and fix it yourself, in person. Twenty minutes came and went, nothing changed. When we finally got our food, we shoveled it in because we were so cold. The filet, normally excellent, was not just char broiled on the outside...it was burnt. I cut off the outside and the center was delicious. The potatoes were fabulous.... if we ate them quickly because they cooled off so fast. We would have had dessert and another drink, but we were so cold, we asked for the bill. There were only apologies that "it would take another 20 minutes"..... never apologies that we were uncomfortable...and no offer to make things better. It would have been nice to be placed in a different dining room...
The wait staff was very sympathetic and understood, but there was nothing they could do. One made the comment that he would have taken care of it before we were even seated. I guess one doesn't consider taking a heavy sweater to a fine dining establishment when it's 98 degrees outside.
I was so excited to take my friends to the Foundation Room and bragged it up a lot. I don't think they were impressed at all, and I kind of looked like a fool.
That said, we've had great food and service in the past, and the view is unbeatable.
