Foundation Room House of Blues Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
The staff at both the bar and restraunt were outstanding and friendly. The food and the recommended pairings were spot on. If there was any downside I would question is that was informed in my reservation conformation call, the dress was business casual. However as evening picked up men in shorts and baseball hats were let in. It gave a confused vibe the DJ was energetic liked the feathered head dress the dancer wore an old school Vegas flashback. So the only down was the collage frat guys, who looked and acted the part.
Arrived for our reservation early but the would not seat us until our reservation time. The view was amazing and the bar area was a great atmosphere. The food was equally amazing, but the service was a little slow. They were busy due to Valentines Day, but when you are expecting top notch service the special day should not matter. I definitely would dine there again.
Once you get out of the cramped elevator, past the incense smell and all the club goers, our initial experience was great! Quiet dining room with an amazing view, but everything went down hill from there. Our server was quick to offer drinks and take our order, but then we didn’t see him again until we complained and asked for water refills. Our table had wedge salads which were horrible. One piece of bacon and a few blue cheese crumbles over a chunk of iceberg that wasn’t even properly washed or de-cored, vinegar dressing and no tomatoes. Just awful. We ordered a porterhouse, 2 filets and a ribeye. All 4 steaks were cooked correctly, but were charred on the outside and lacked flavor, not steakhouse or Vegas buffet quality for that matter. The asparagus were huge (like tree trunks) and were very undercooked. The truffle Mac and cheese was very good and they did manage to not screw up the sautéed mushrooms. We flagged down a random server and requested our check. 18 minutes later our server brought out a stale tasting chocolate cake with a candle in it (no clue why as it was nobody’s birthday) 12 minutes later we finally paid our bill.
Of all the places I have been in Vegas, this was the worst. Horrible service and unimpressive food.
I was disappointed. I’d been several years ago and loved it. The salmon was bland. The Chardonnay and tempura coliflour was excellent. Service was just ok. He really didn’t earn an over $60 tip, but he didn’t do anything bad either. He didn’t tell us the special and I overheard him telling another table...maybe I would have done better with lobster. If the comedy had been good at the show I could have felt like it was all worth it. Only one guy was funny and it wasn’t the headliner who was clearly bitter over the political climate. A handful of customers were ‘roasted’ over and over again...It got old.
Completely unseasoned filet mignon, and was also raw. When sent back, it was still very undercooked. Had consistency of hamburger. Worst scallops i’ve ever had.
To be fair, wait staff was friendly and courteous. Nice looking restaurant with great view, but that doesn’t make the food taste good. For 200 dollars, you expect more.
I was there earlier since I was going to catch up my flight. I asked the receptionist if she could let me in earlier since I needed to catch up flight, she told me there were not any tables available. She took me in after I waited for half hour and there were many empty tables, the restaurant was less than half full. There were many tables still empty when I done my dinner.
This was our second visit and this time pre-concert menu. Everyone in our group felt that they were pampered and enjoyed the taste and presentation of the food. We loved the view, the staff was very attentive and the ambiance is amazing. An eclectic flair of elegance surrounds you.
Celebrated News Years Eve’s Eve for Dinner. Was staying at the Mandalay Bay And was convenient to locate. We were treated special from the check in and with our reservation of requesting a scent free window table we received exactly what was requested. Costly but worth the whole experience. Was offered to drink out cocktail outside on the terrace while we waited for our meal. The view was spectacular.
We were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and sort of stumbled on to Foundation Room through reviews. It is not particularly easy to find, even when you're already in the Mandalay Bay, but it is certainly worth the look! It was too windy to spend much time out on their huge porch overlooking the city, but our window seat provided a nice view of the Vegas lights. The atmosphere in warm and "clubby" meaning rich, subdued colors and lighting. Very elegant but not at all stuffy. Now for the service. From our welcoming both at the ground floor elevator to the maître d at the restaurant to our excellent waiter, David, we could not have asked for more. David took his time chatting with us, made excellent food and wine recommendations, and offered some interesting info about Las Vegas in response to our questions. By the way, there was a big Christmas party going on in the bar (we had been warned about it at the elevator) but we were seated in the dining room and heard nothing at all - very nice. The food was fabulous. I had the Chilean seabass while my wife enjoyed a salad and their "not to miss" macaroni and cheese side. Portions are VERY generous, and David did offer to split some of the entres which he realized would be more than we were comfortable with. We finished with a great desert, compliments of the house because of our anniversary. In closing and in comparison, we also ate at another extremely popular/famous restaurant right on the strip across from Belagios. The Foundation Room beat it on quality of food and value, equaled it on service. Do try Foundation Room and be sure to allow time to enjoy. Works well, by the way if you're seeing "Blue Man Group."
Everything was awful. We were there on a Monday night. Maybe 5 tables total at any point, but we were told to wait 15 minutes while they made finishing touches on our table, a 2 top with nothing but a tablecloth on it. Then the service was god awful and we were right by the door to the balcony in 30 degree weather with 20 mph winds. Again, the place was empty and no reason to put anyone right by the door. Saw the waiter every 20-30 minutes at best. We were so ready to leave that we told him to throw away the anniversary cake they tried to bring us. Would never recommend this place and would never, ever go back.
I have been coming to Foundation room on every visit to Vegas, about 2-3 times a year. Love the place.. I brought a few friends that had never been. I had built up the place, talking about how good it was. On this trip the incense was overpowering, drinks took forever to get to us and the food was not so good at all. I actually had a better steak at a BBQ place the next day.. I'm sorry to say I am very disappointed in our latest trip. Not sure I'll make such an effort to go back next time.
Even after all of these years the Foundation Room continues to impress. I've only had the pleasure of dining here twice, but attending functions several other times. The restaurant facilities here are truly outstanding, with a fine delicious menu of gourmet meals. After dinner you can retire to the balcony that overlooks the entire strip. When I made the reservation I failed to note it was exactly 1 month after the mass shooting affair, but in all honesty I am all to happy to support Mandalay Bay as it continues to be one of my favorite places in Las Vegas and they had nothing to do with the affair so should not be suffering for it.
So disappointed. After years of hearing about the famous Foundation Room I cannot tell you how disappointed I was with the majority of the evening. The host was wonderful the ride up to the top floor great. Table and view were okay. The service was god awful. We waited and waited all night long for service. They rarely came by and when they did you had to stop them to get their attention. Three servers, 7 tables and the worst service of my life. How is that possible? It seems they are under new management, the house of blues isn't really known for their high end dining or service so maybe that had something to do with it. Either way I won't ever be back. I recommend that for the price (it's pricey) you go somewhere with servers and management interested in the guest. High end prices, fast food service.
