Perfect service. Excellent food. Definitely returning!*
We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and they treated us to complimentary cocktails when we sat down. A very pleasant surprise—they were delicious and something not featured on the menu. We tried several of the specialty cocktails and those were wonderful. We had bread, frites, Brussels sprouts, chicken and the trout. Everything was well flavored and hot when it hit the table. It’s a small plates menu and items hit the table as they’re ready. The trout was good but too much food and we didn’t eat much of it. Had apple bread pudding for dessert—yum! We will be back
Service and good were excellent.
We spent a lovely evening at found and found it to be quite cozy and welcoming. A series of small plates, and then more substantial entrées, will make a beautiful combination for the evening. It is pricey, but worth the special treat!
Found has been our local go-to restaurant for several years, and while I understand the chef's need to be creative and play with menu, it's very disappointing when all the best dishes are swapped out and the replacements are not at the same level. The last time we went we were very disappointed the the fries with the hot sauce has been replaced by fries doused with cheese. This time our absolute fav lamb meatballs and the polenta dishes are off the menu. I hope they decide to bring these back otherwise we will have to find a new favorite.
The service remains friendly and fairly efficient.
Everything was fantastic. Food was amazing and so was the service. And such a cute space. Will definitely come back!
You always feel well when you are here. Service is friendly but professional.
Ambiance is nice.
Food is always good and interesting.
Our favorite in Evnaston
Creative flavor combinations and everything was tasty and cooked perfectly!
Excellent food! Both of us liked the meals. Extra plus for the trout!
Would be nice to have a few more choices on the menu.
Went for our monthly foodie get together with friends and ordered nearly the entire menu. Highlights were the brussel sprouts (crunchy, with a good bacon punch) and chicken wings (crunchy crispy skin under a sweet and sticky sauce with a kick). The entrees were well prepared and balanced flavors. Mussels were a gigantic portion. All of the dessert options were decadent and delicious. The almond pot de creme was my favorite, but most of the table preferred the salted chocolate mousse.
New menu was a total disappointment. Won’t be going back. Went for a special birthday and was sad to get mediocre service and none of my previous favorites on the menu.
Brussels sprouts were great. Beets were very good, though whipped tofu was AWOL and popped quinoa was barely in evidence. We were served the wrong pizza, then served the correct pizza, were told we'd be comped for the correct pizza, and weren't. Pizza was great, btw. The server took the wrong pizza, which my husband had touched with his already-used fork, and then took it to the front of the house, presumably served to someone else. Good thing he didn't have a communicable disease (that we know of).
Food is interesting and unique (I had butternut squash flat bread). They use antique and unusual serving dishes and utensils that adds a bit of kitsch. Always a great meal and really inventive cocktails.
Very cool place. Has the feel of what I would expect from an early 1900’s place in Paris (as presented in the movie Midnight In Paris). Music I that caught my ear is 1930’s to 1940’s American so not quite a total French/European immersion. Food was great. Service outstanding. Ambience sublime. Hostess Aja is super cool. PERFECT date location. Hanging out on a couch or big chair. A real gem for sure!
Good cocktails and atmosphere. Mussels ordered not good. Served tepid 1st time. Sent back. 2nd x meh. Very helpful, though.
We love everything about this place... the staff is welcoming and kind, the ambiance is romantic and eclectic, the food and drinks are wonderful! Always a great date night at Found!
Nice ambiance and decor, friendly service. Lamb chops were improperly cooked, as the fat was still solid and white. Other dish was unimpressive. Value was poor for amount paid.
The menu was too limited and not very good
We have been going there for years but this menu was not good
Very disappointed in the menu
The portions were so small we left hungry and had to eat at home. What they referred to as soup was served in a shot glass. Share portions were barely enough for one person . It would’ve been better to charge more and provide ample portions . It was the smallest fixed portion meal I have experienced.
Unfortunately you cannot eat ambiance. Couple next to us were playing ping pong with their
I-Phones to add to our enjoyment of the evening. It just seemed everything was out of sync and that coupled with portions that redefined the word small, gave one the urge to go grab a burger!
The set price for dinner, excluding drinks, was totally out of whack.
Personally I'd drop the fishtank and put in a fake fireplace which would allow one to absorb the ambiance rather than our attempt to eat it.
The atmosphere is great: cozy and warm and funky — garage-sale-vintage chic. But my service experience was simply average. I requested tea with honey after the server specifically suggested getting honey with the tea and then she did not bring the honey.
I don’t believe the value for money was strong. The portion sizes were relatively small for the price. The taste was good but not enough to set off the drawback of the relatively high price.
The dishes at Found never disappoint, and they’re great for sharing. Plus, amazing cocktails and a well-priced wine list. You can’t go wrong.
My dining companion was new to Found and loved it. The food never fails to satisfy and the service was excellent. Dishes were perfectly spaced.
BRING BACK THE LAMB MEATBALLS, PLEASE. Then you'll go back up to 5 stars instead of 4.
We sat at the "chef's table" in front of the wood-burning oven, got to watch the chef at work. The food was outstanding! My fabulous cocktail was served in a the cutest vintage glass, which I was able to purchase - so I brought home a reminder of a great dinner.
We had a wonderful time. We were treated like VIPs, service was prompt, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the jazz musicians, too.
The food here was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the family-style plates and the cocktails were very nice!
My wife and I met our grandson (a freshman at Northwestern) at Found Kitchen and Social House during our recent visit to Chicago. We started with the Bacon and Leek flatbread and it was a good choice. We had different entrees: pork chop, roast chicken and farm steak. All were well prepared and nicely presented. The portions were more than adequate, which allowed our grandson to take leftovers home to enjoy the next day. My wife had a Babbling Brooke to drink - which she really liked - and I had a glass each of the Vinum Chenin Blanc and Snowqualmie Red Blend, both of which matched well with our mains. We were too full for desert. The Found is a pleasant, comfortable restaurant, with a nice ambiance. Waitstaff were efficient, though not particularly warm, but that may have been due to the fact that we were in deep conversation with our grandson. I feel the cost of the meal was reasonable for what we got and we would be happy to return to Found the next time we're in Evanston.
Great service, great food, we had a wonderful time!
Nice restaurant, but for farm fresh it was pretty heavy in oil & sauces.
These people really put themselves out for us. The show ran late and we were late on our reservation near closing time. We called they understood and they kept the kitchen open just for us so we could get something to eat. We were not rushed and the food was excellent
We tried a few of the new offerings on the lunch menu and were very happy with our choices -- flatbread and beet salad this time. We are still hoping you will put the lamb meatballs back on the menu.
This restaurant was a HUGE disappointment. There was a 3 o 4 page drink menu, but only a small page of food items. They "specialize" in small plates to share, of which they offer about 10, and have only 4 main dishes. Most of the small plates consisted of fried foods (brussel sprouts), dishes that feature cheese (I try to refrain from the butterfat and lactose), and flatbreads (I prefer low carb dishes). There was one salad that sounded ok, but it was $11 for lettuce and little blue cheese, and I thought that was overpriced so I didn't order it. I did order the trout main course, which was described as being served with potatoes and greens, so I thought that the greens with the trout would take the place of ordering a salad. The trout was very tasty, but the fingerling potatoes were flavorless and I left most of them on my plate. The greens were just garnish.
We were treating our son and his girlfriend to dinner to celebrate his birthday. They ordered 3 plates and a steak (flat iron) to share. The menu states that dishes come out of the kitchen whenever they are ready. Our guests' 3 plates were served and later their steak, but no fish for my husband and me! The waiter knew very well that we ate nothing at all while our guests dined on everything, but I had to ask him for our food. When our food finally came, I was beyond hungry and feeling angry that the waiter and the kitchen pay no attention to the guests' eating pattern.
The four of us ordered two (tiny!) desserts to share and our guests each ordered a drink (overpriced). We frequent nice, upscale restaurants where we can get a good glass of wine for $12. $15 for a basic wine at Found, which is certainly not high ambience, was too much!
The bill was $175 before the tip. So we spent $200 and I went home and had some peanut butter as I was very hungry. I do not have a big appetite and never before have been left hungry when only ordering a $26 main course.
Found Kitchen and Social House has always been pleasant without any disappointments in food, drinks or service. Its a fun atmosphere with delicious food and equally fantastic drinks. It tends to be busy so I would recommend making reservations.
We came here for a birthday celebration and the food was delicious, the atmosphere was very unique and lively, and the service was very strong. Highly recommend.
Great atmosphere, love the decor! Tapas selections were very interesting and unusual - delicious flavor combinations which satisfied the meat-eaters and non-meat eaters in our group. Service was OUTSTANDING!! Joe made great suggestions and was attentive without being obtrusive.
Great atmosphere with really good food. The pizzas are excellent. Everything is meant to be shared. The Brussels sprouts were a must !!! We had a very nice time. I would absolutely recommend it and I will go back
Charming restaurant - great ambiance, great food, great service. We'd definitely go back.
My husband and I had dinner sitting at the “Chef’s Table” before a chamber music concert at Northwestern. We ordered 4 small plates and a total of 3 glasses of wine and our bill was around $100 - we had plenty of wonderful food to eat and had no room for dessert. While all the food was creative and delicious our most memorable dishes were the shrimp gnocchi and the caviar capellini - each bite was savored and appreciated! The staff was nicely attentive and personable; the ambiance was warm and comfortable, and the decor was beautifully bohemian. We will return soon!
