Found Kitchen and Social House
Reservations are accepted and spontaneous dining is encouraged! Much of our dining room is held open for walk-ins. Please feel free to walk-in anytime.
Great relaxing place, good food for sharing with friends.
The waiter was rude. He seemed mad that we weren't drinking at brunch, he was annoyed with a special request to leave grapefruit out of something due to an allergy, and he insulted Evanston. Also, the food took FOREVER, came out in a staggered fashion over a span of 25 minutes (they claimed this is how their kitchen works, but it's not ideal for brunch where everyone has an entrée), and one entrée was wrong. I would not go back.
We went here for my sister-in-law’s 50th birthday.
It was fine but not great
The service was really good but the food was just OK also it was very expensive for what it was I don’t think I would be back but have been wanting to check it out for some time and now it’s off my list
A great waiter can make all the difference in a meal and ours was outstanding! That said, the oysters, cheeses, salmon, steak, gelato and cocktails were all perfect on their own. We liked that there weren’t any tables of rowdy young children on their iPads. Will definitely return soon!
I was honestly worried it would not be enough food! Happily I was proven wrong! Our server chose everything for our party of 12, and our shared plates were more than satisfactory. Everyone loved the food! I brought several bottles of wine, and even with the corkage fee, we still saved $$$ and enjoyed our fabulous feast and birthday party! Highly recommend for groups and special occasions!
I love Found in the evening but the lunch menu is limited and not anything special.
Wonderful ambiance and super yummy food. The salmon was to die for. Wonderful, knowledgeable wait staff. Great evening.
Excellent food, attentive but not overbearing service, and best of all: a restaurant that was relaxing and where you didn’t have to shout to converse with your dinner partner!
I would not recommend any Brunch Buffet event at Found. I took my wife and kids for Mother’s Day. Food was under cooked, runny scrambled eggs, raw bacon and potato pieces not cooked through. Josh was a good server. They struggled to keep food available...had to go back up several times to wait for food to come out. $300 for a mediocre experience and did NOT enhance Mother’s Day. I regret my decision and will never go back for the brunch buffet. Unfortunate.
Way overpriced for very basic Mother’s Day brunch. Would have expected some special items for that price.
Mother’s Day Brunch
I’ve visited Found before for dinner with friends and enjoyed the meal and service very much. Today was a different story. I was celebrating Mother’s Day with my son. Someone called to confirm our reservation 2 hours before and informed me that we wouldn’t be ordering from the regular menu and the brunch buffet was $39 a person. This was not listed anywhere on their the open table site and if it was on their website I wasn’t able to find it. I reluctantly kept my reservation because at that late hour I wouldn’t have been able to find anything else. When we arrived for our reservation we were seated all the way in the back of the restaurant so far from the buffet that by the time we got through the line our food was cold. We were disappointed with the quality of the food. The eggs were runny and the French toast wasn’t cooked in the middle. I was going to mention these issues to the manager, but I wasn’t comfortable complaining in front of my son because I was glad to be with him on Mother’s Day. Overall, the food didn’t live up to the cost and I won’t return for a special occasion where it’s a price fixed meal.
Excellent food! Fresh and delicious. Service was terrific! Wonderful spot for lunch or dinner.
This place has an odd brunch menu. Food is mediocre at best. Selection size too small. Seems overpriced as well. Wouldn’t go back. They are trying too much to be cute. Time for massive overhaul. Won’t go back
Found is a long-time favorite. The menu has enough choices that when eating with a group there's the chance to taste a lot of different things. Service is always great. It is a bit noisy - not a place for "fine" dining but definitely the good place to go with friends.
Eclectic small plates. Nice vibe. Great for special occasions
imaginative, flavorful...a little pricey for portion sizes
Innovative cuisine in a sophisticated-bohemian setting.
We have eaten at Found many times and both service and food were very good. This time Our server was a bit arrogant and the food was not very good. Whole fish, fluke, was only fair, carrots were served with one so black inside and out it should never have been served in that condition bc it was not edible, and when I mentioned it to our server he just continued clearing the table. We also had lamb meatballs which were over seasoned and overcooked We have had the lamb meatballs many times and they have been delicious. We brought a guest for dinner and we were very disappointed.
Had SUCH a special evening at Found. Perfect food, perfect service. Went for our 7th wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. Very eager to return.
Cool place. Very good food. Small portions, which we like. Our server Joshua was attentive and pleasant. Only minor complaint, no hot water when washing hands in the bathroom.
The food was delicious, service warm and authentic and we wanted to copy on Spotify the soundtrack to follow us home. Thank you for making a last minute decision to go out for dinner special!
The food is very interestingly and tastily prepared, and the service was perfect.
Good food and great service. Looking forward to our next visit!
We went on a very snowy day (in mid April!) and the place was nearly empty. Service was almost too much. To be fair, because of how few people were in the restaurant, our waiter was probably dying of boredom. Every person on the staff was very friendly. The decor is cute and eclectic. The food was pretty good. I got the lamb meatballs, and sheep's milk cheese (separate items). My friend ordered the kale salad, farmhouse steak, and pots de creme. We were both satisfied with our orders.
Two small things:
(1) Only one cheese per plate? It would be great if in addition to choosing only one cheese, they offered a cheese plate (or flight, if you will). It was my first time where when ordering a cheese at a restaurant that you were selecting only one, as opposed to being offered multiple cheeses in which to compare.
(2) Weird seating at the chef station. It's a high bar, and the seats are loveseat-ish. It's a bit awkward that two people are sharing a seat at the counter.
Overall, a good experience.
We've eaten at Found three times. It's a great place to spend time with friends. The staff is great, the food wonderful and the ambiance perfect.
Great place for Tuesday nights bring your own Vinyl
Through several stops for lunch and dinner beginning when Found opened, my fellow diners and I have never been anything but pleased with every element - ambience, attentiveness of service, quality of food. Superb experiences, all.
I went 2x in one week. I love the comfort and ambience of a restaurant- it is like a chef friend is cooking dinner, but has a large brick oven inside and restaurant quality kitchen in their home. The furnishings are eclectic and fun and the dining chairs are different. There is a lounge area for drinks and snacks and a dining area to sit and enjoy conversation with the meal. Meal for first time: Had the olives and cheese plate and both flat breads: squash and lamb: a nice start. Lamb was roasted and did not have "gamey" taste. The cheese platter had different cheeses and a honey comb that tasted good with the cheese. The salmon was delicious- had to come back again just for that: the skin was crisp- salmon cooked medium had fennel puree- I liked that spiciness (no a heat spicy) and the onions and mushrooms added an earthiness to dish and then the roasted grapes added a pop of sweetness. YUM! Dessert: flourless chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream: decadent without being heavy.
2nd time: got the salmon again- tasted just as good this time. My son had it too and ate everything.
We tried the beet saiad- wish I had more of the tofu dressing and the chicken wings-fried and coated with sauce: a ginger-orange BBQ sauce- well worth the mess on my fingers. I liked the mussels: green curry- herby, not spicy with the fries- double fried- very good. I enjoyed the roasted bone marrow- rich like butter and the onions and capers and arugula freshened the taste. My son enjoyed the chocolate ice cream and the peach sorbet was creamy (no milk). Would come again.
If you like the small plate concept you will love Found. Each plate was large enough for four people to share. The flavors were interesting and delicious. Only a $20 corkage fee so we paired everything with some great wine. Service was outstanding and our server was lovely. I are and will continue to be regular customers.
I always enjoy Found. I love the vibe and the creative food. Very few "loser" dishes in the meals that we've had at Found over the years.
Love the ambiance and the eclectic arrangement of food parings. Loved the squash flatbread.
Found is great. We always Enjoy the food, the ambience, the service and the conversation at our table
Food was excellent and fun; especially polenta! Got the feeling that they love what they are doing, creating dishes as per seasonal availability. Types of chairs and tables vary, so watch out for that; however, they kindly made a special effort to seat us in normal table and chairs, as we had disabled person with us.
Food was good. For sharing, salmon was quite small. More like 2 bites worth. But overall food was tasty. tapas like.
Food was good but not special, service was very good!
We chose not to share and both enjoyed our small dishes as mains: steak and salmon prepared exactly as asked. Lovely salad rounded out my meal while my friend enjoyed the deviled eggs.
Sunday brunch was excellent. Love the small plate choice to order many fir the table and share to enjoy
Great ambiance, but felt rushed. The waiter indicated that we needed to order oysters in three so he could not accept my order of 4, so i told him two orders of three. he then served us two oysters. so could not understand that situation. The salad came after the steak was served after the waiter insisted that we must hurry up and order the steak since it takes 20 minutes. We ordered the steak at his suggestion, medium rare but it came out medium.
So the waiter was a nice guy and we got a great table, but feeling a bit rushed when we go there as this is the third time we have gone. The owner came by as well, and did not seem interested to rectify the situation and knowing that we were there for the third time did not feel the need to learn our name or make us feel important even though we spent about $300 for the dinner for two.
Best service! Great menu. We even tried the bone marrow, which sounded weird but was delicious. Our table included a vegetarian, and she loved the selection too (but of course, not the bone marrow. LOL). Only disappointment is the the bar ran out of the house rye whiskey--duh--and we were charged for more expensive brand! Not a biggie--we will go back soon.
