Given this restaurant's elite-in-the-business ownership I'm sure they believe they have a swell place. Oh, well. I react strongly to rules and regulations foisted on me especially when I'm supposed to be hosting a party. This place clearly is not designed - actually could not care less - if you had a large party of friends who would much rather do separate checks (I get it - it's a pain. But you're in the service business, and any gratuity can be adjusted to how accommodating you are. Or like other venues, automatically add one.) Of course, separate checks are quite de classe if you happened to be of a certain age. The server was pleasant and kept a positive demeanor even while delivering the management spiel, really a disclaimer to forestall any complaints. It seems Found has "two kitchens" and depending on "the flow" of orders, some orders may go to one kitchen, some to another, and therefore there is no guarantee that any of the orders would arrive at the same time or in any particular fashion. Not particularly convivial for a party. Seems to me if you cannot manage the flow of work in your kitchen - god forbid you need to send something back for it being undercooked (it happened) - then you have a system with some flaws that should be looked into. And if you say it takes too long to create multiple checks - thereby slowing your business down, guess what, forcing the host to figure out the bills for all the guests took even longer, and that had to affect your turnover, right? A couple of other things worth a star or two: *Their website has a menu, to which I provided links to the guests so I could speed up their ordering (and budgeting). Too bad the online menu doesn't agree with reality. *There's nothing in the online reservation system that limits the number of guests to a party. If there was a limitation, we could have moved on and this would have been a review of another place. *It is not a philosophical crime to allow artificial sweeteners for iced tea.
Ever since Found opened I have wanted to go there. I finally had the opportunity to do so and I completely regret it. The atmosphere was nice, but that’s about it. The service was terrible and the food was worse. We ordered the steak with chimichuri and it was so tough we could not chew it. We both had to take it out of our mouths because if we tried to swallow it we could have chocked. The waiter never came back to see how our meal was, we waited at least 10 minutes to be able to flag him down. When we told him about the steak, not only did we get an attitude, he thought he was going the extra mile by saying “I will remove it from your check”. Since we were hungry we ordered the salmon, which wasn’t bad. We also had the kale salad and flatbread which were just basic and boring. I could’ve made them better at home. We have now been to Found and will never go back.
Great service. Love the varied veg options.
Great service and interesting combinations for each menu item!
Waited awhile for a host to greet me, as there was nobody up front at check-in. Our waiter disappeared after our order was taken and did not come back to see if we wanted dessert or another drink at the end of dinner. We had the bartender go find our waiter in back to request the check. The food is good, but not good enough to keep me coming back with the so-so service.
fab night.... love the new design. everyone who loves design should see it!
Everything about FOUND is A+++!!! It has a very warm, friendly atmosphere, the service is extremely attentive and helpful, and everything on the menu is scrumptiously delicious. I think it is perfect for a couple, for a small group, or for a special occasion as a way to celebrate an event. The varied seating arrangements make the restaurant have a much more eclectic feel than others that are a sea of the same tables and chairs. Found is a "find" for anyone who wants to guarantee a great atmosphere and spectacular food!!!
So enjoyed our meal here! Yummy food and fun atmosphere!
Have been to this place many times and always was a fabulous overrall experience. This time the service was Horrible! Not sure if it was due to day after Thsnksgiving. But for a place like this that should not be an excuse. Took 20 mins for server to get to our table. Then another 15 mins for our drinks to arrive. Place was not that busy. Excuses were made re. confusion as to who was to be our server. Excuses accepted at this point. But then after establishing who was to be our server, the service went downhill! It took over 3 hrs to get out of there due to slow service. Thsnk Gid we had no where to go & were chatting up with our out-of-town guests. Our guests Loved the food but commented about the lack of attention. Anyhoo, we ordered the Hallumi as one of our disehes but were given a second one even tho we did not order that. Thsnk god it was a great dish so we didnt complain. But then when it came to dessert, we were given a plate of cookies even tho we did not order the cookies and were actually discussing sharing other desserts. WTF? Didnt say anything (although I was dying to speak to the manager) due to respect for our out-of-town guests. Not sure what was going on. Sad service but great food.
Still waiting for the lamb meatballs to return to the menu-- after many requests.
Always delicious. Love the remodeled look! One of our favorites!!
very small drink/wine portions, not very friendly bartenders
limited menu selections
Poor choices for menu.
Evanston has many wonderful restaurants, but Found is unique in being extremely creative in all areas (decor, food, drinks, couch seating, ambiance) and excelling in all of them. I admit to being a foodie and wine snob (in a good way) so not easily impressed, but I cannot imagine anyone ever being disappointed in spending time at Found. My home away from home.
Had brunch. Outstanding French toast, bacon and donut. Wife had quinoa bowl, also excellent. Lemonade infused with black charcoal was different and delicious. Service by Briana and staff was polite, helpful, knowledgeable and prompt. Found Kitchen is now at the top of our list when we visit Evanston again.
Our waiter was very attentive. The food was exceptional.
We love this place! We always have a great experience. We were a group of 6. Our server was wonderful. The food was great and I love the ambiance.
Enjoyed the small plates. The atmosphere was good.
Found has been my favorite go to place since it opened. The new decor is just not as interesting or cozy. And the dishes we got were just ok. I'm hoping that they are trying to find their groove with the new menu. I'll be back to try.
Very hood food. Interesting great vibe.
Menu limited to small plates.
We enjoyed the flatbreads very much.
Delicious food. Attentive service. Kind of loud.
I had been to Found many times before with the previous chef, only to be disappointed time after time. I really wanted to love this place because it had great ambiance and I am an Evanston resident. I was looking forward to trying again upon hearing about a new chef. What a wonderful experience! The food was outstanding. I went with a group of friends and we shared the cauliflower, steak, carrots, squash flatbread, chicken thighs and 2 desserts. All the food was amazing, but the stand outs were the carrots and squash flatbread. I will definitely be back!
Nice option for small plates and nice wine. I wish they had more vegetarian options though.
Nice food, nice drinks, nice vibe!
Never fails to delight. Excellent dishes and attentive service.
Found need to find its way. It was once a great hopping spot.
Thought the food was no where what it should be for the price.
Flavors were nothing special...a bit of a disappointment!
Definitely will be back. EVERYTHING was great from food to service to making a reservation to ambiance. It's a gem
If you have a chance to get the special pork chop, do NOT pass it up! Our server tried to claim that this is tapas style dining, suggesting 3-4 items PER PERSON, but that would have been waaaay too much food. We ordered two items each (the pork chop for two, the roasted cauliflower and the beet salad), and that was more than enough food, especially since we ordered the pork chop. Everything was served family-style, and it was fun to share everything.
Too noisy. Pork chop very fatty and practically inedible. Limited menu.
We have been to Found Kitchen many times. We’re big fans! Keep up the good work!
My husband's birthday was why we went to the theatre and walked a couple of blocks to Found Kitchen.
I love the décor, whoever was the interior designer, had great taste.
The food was excellent but sparse. We probably could have had more on our plates, but that was not to be.
We asked for rolls or the equivalent and Todd the server seemed to be a little put off by this. He said he would see what he could do. After awhile they brought over this delicious sliced bread with a great crust.
Needless to say we did a good job on it.
When the bill came we were very surprised to see a $6.00 charge for the bread. Two things came to mind that should have happened, Todd should have told us that there was this charge so we could decide whether we wanted it or not. Also we never got our 15% discount on the check. Perhaps that was my fault because I didn't remind him of it. I did call the restaurant regarding this matter and whoever answered said that someone would call me back. I never got that call.
We had a great meal. Our favorite dishes were the roasted carrots, and the salmon with mushrooms. Delicious! The steak with turnips, fingerlings and chimichurri sauce was lacking flavor and tenderness. Only service complaint (and maybe it’s house policy) is that we had the same small plate to use for all of our courses. It would’ve been nice to have clean ones.
This was our first visit and we invited friends who typically are reluctant to try unusual menus. The Sammy was their choice and they lived them! My husband and I enjoyed our selections equally as well. We had a great Sunday brunch, the Bloody Mary’s, mimosa and wine were excellent and the desserts were outstanding. Our server was more than delightful!! We would go back any time.
Good food in a unique setting with a variety of seating options.
Food was interesting and delicious but from the host to the waiter to the other servers, overall service was sloppy and slow. The prices reflected the high quality of the food, but not the unprofessional service.
Great food and service!
The staff is amazing from the host to the food runners. A+ service!
They took 15 minutes to seat us though we had a reservation, they made us wait another 15 minutes before taking our order, and at that point they informed us that they had run out of ingredients for several dishes and didn’t have any replacements. Our party of 5 had no alternative but to leave the restaurant without eating anything.
