We were there for graduation and were given a very limited menu. The options were not very good. Salads were bland and didn’t seem to have dressing on them. Roasted veggies were undercooked and pork was over cooked and dry. Service was great and drinks were delicious. Food not at as good as we remembered. Sorry- hate to give a bad review.
I ordered steak medium well. Waiter said chef likes to do it medium rare. I said I don’t like to see blood and wanted my meat cooked through. We went back and forth on his asking me to choose something else and my requesting the steak medium well. With allergies to gluten, dairy and shellfish, there were very few other options available to me on the menu. He reluctantly agreed to ask the chef for the meat medium well. The meat arrived medium rare. I gave the middle to my husband to eat and ate the two ends. I couldn’t “share” the other food items as they contained gluten. Based on the way food comes out when it is done, everyone else had eaten and my dish was the last to come out, so no opportunity to order something else. Very disappointing service and food. I left hungry. I’ve eaten here 4-5 times in the past, and this was graduation lunch for my son graduating Northwestern. I won’t return and I will post this review on the NU Parent Facebook Page.
We were here for graduation lunch and I was a little disappointed. We had a variety of small plates and while there were a few standouts, some where just okay. And the prices were high. The mussels were delicious but the lamb meatballs didn’t have much flavor without the sauce. The kale salad had a little too much vinegar. It was a nice lunch with good service but not as fantastic as it should have been for the money.
Great steak salad.
I love Found. The food is always high quality and interesting. The cocktails are really good, and the wine selection includes good, reasonably priced options. My only complaint is that our server came on a little strong, and frequently interrupted our conversation.
The decor is fun and inviting. Menu is creative tho some dishes were not as tasty as the menu described. We ordered a basic martini and were served a concoction like a martini. Not sure if it was a specialty drink, but it definitely was not a martini. Love that they use vintage glasses! Our waiter was engaging and conscientious.
Lovely evening. First time there. Small shareable plates with a cozy decor and nice lighting. We had a very lovely young server who helped explain some of the menu items. We had Kale Salad, lamb meatballs, zucchini and squash flat bread, and the salmon plus the bread. Not happy to pay for bread. Also, brought my own wine for a $20 corkage fee. Finished with gelato and sorbet. $50 p/person before tip. Nice evening in Evanston. I used to work in Evanston when it was a dry city. No longer the case and better for it. Has become a nice restaurant town.
All the food was well thought out and excellent. Everything is meant to be shared, and our server Joshua was very good at giving suggestions not only on dishes but also on quantity. Love that’s it’s as locally sourced as possible. The ambiance is eclectic yet comforting.
Loved it- steak and salmon shareables were delicious. Loved the unusual decor as well
I was impressed with Found in Evanston. The food was very fresh and the ambience nice. A somewhat limited menu but was good for lunch.
the service was outstanding on this visit
The food was good but expensive for the vegetables we mostly ordered
They charge extra for bread and fries
It seems a little chintzy
My friend ordered wine and the pour was so small that after a few sips she had to order another glass
The second pour was much more generous. Why?
Not my favorite place
Really nice dining experience on a Saturday night. Hostess very nice and accommodating. We got there early, sat at the bar and waited for our friends. Worked out perfectly as the table we were hoping for opened up for seating just a bit after our 6:45 reservation. A+ for almost everything except they did not have one of the items listed on the menu. No biggie...we just ordered a different version. They ran out of the crab special and when we showed a bit of disappointment the server said it was because we took a long time to place our order. 😳It was now 7:30 on a Saturday night. We did get the chicken wing special and although really tasty, very little viable meat on the bone. However...baguette, excellent. Accompanying French crème frâiche butter, could have eaten that on its own! So good. Mussels, excellent, but could have used a touch more salt. Caviar, excellent! Steak, excellent. The rest of the food appeared to be delicious, but I held at the above. Dessert - excellent. Cappuccino, great! Will go again!
Food and service was great
Pleasant atmosphere. Rather pricey. Food was ok but nothing special. Ordered the roasted vegetables which were crunchy and charred. The salmon tasted fishy. Mussels were tasty.
The food in general was very good and they expect you to share the very small plates. We had a beet salad, flatbread, bread, lamb meatballs the perch special and a cookie plate for dessert $90. Did not have any drinks. Service was very good and all plates were prepared nicely. This was for 3 people and I left a bit hungry. We did not feel rushed to leave and it was definitely quiet enough to have a conversation. The bottom line is food was fresh but for the price was not exceptional.
Cubano flatbread is awesome. Wings are terrible:) Very good service. Cute place
Found was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Every dish was delicious. The polenta with poached egg and blue cheese was especially delicious, as was the semolina pasta. Literally every single thing we ate was amazing. Service was terrific-I brought small favors to be put at each place for a birthday dinner and the hostess was very helpful-the table looked great.
Fun place to dine. Love the decor and the food was delicious.
Service, food, ambience .. perfect. Just love!
We have had better experiences there in the past. Service was less attentive this time. Would have liked to see another fish dish on the menu (in addition to the salmon). Otherwise, the food was good, as always, and we like the ambience there.
My friend and I have been to this restaurant a few times before. This time we were disappointed in the menu and food. There weren’t many choices and only 3 dessert items. We had salmon and kale salad. Both uninspiring. The dessert of three cookies was the biggest miss. The cookies were stale and kinda blah.
The service was outstanding and the accommodations very good. Loved the open windows but sad about the food.
Yes, I would recommend Found except the service was questionable. The bartender was good but had an attitude with a few of our guests. I think she was overworked, only one serving bar and tables. Then our waiter also had a bit of an attitude. Not sure if he thought it was funny, but would not tell us his name at first. Not a big help with the menu. The food at Found is fantastic, great flavors in every dish. But even though our waiter improved over the course of the meal, both he and the bartender left a negative impression on our 10 person party for my wife's birthday.
Great relaxing place, good food for sharing with friends.
The waiter was rude. He seemed mad that we weren't drinking at brunch, he was annoyed with a special request to leave grapefruit out of something due to an allergy, and he insulted Evanston. Also, the food took FOREVER, came out in a staggered fashion over a span of 25 minutes (they claimed this is how their kitchen works, but it's not ideal for brunch where everyone has an entrée), and one entrée was wrong. I would not go back.
We went here for my sister-in-law’s 50th birthday.
It was fine but not great
The service was really good but the food was just OK also it was very expensive for what it was I don’t think I would be back but have been wanting to check it out for some time and now it’s off my list
A great waiter can make all the difference in a meal and ours was outstanding! That said, the oysters, cheeses, salmon, steak, gelato and cocktails were all perfect on their own. We liked that there weren’t any tables of rowdy young children on their iPads. Will definitely return soon!
I was honestly worried it would not be enough food! Happily I was proven wrong! Our server chose everything for our party of 12, and our shared plates were more than satisfactory. Everyone loved the food! I brought several bottles of wine, and even with the corkage fee, we still saved $$$ and enjoyed our fabulous feast and birthday party! Highly recommend for groups and special occasions!
I love Found in the evening but the lunch menu is limited and not anything special.
Wonderful ambiance and super yummy food. The salmon was to die for. Wonderful, knowledgeable wait staff. Great evening.
Excellent food, attentive but not overbearing service, and best of all: a restaurant that was relaxing and where you didn’t have to shout to converse with your dinner partner!
I would not recommend any Brunch Buffet event at Found. I took my wife and kids for Mother’s Day. Food was under cooked, runny scrambled eggs, raw bacon and potato pieces not cooked through. Josh was a good server. They struggled to keep food available...had to go back up several times to wait for food to come out. $300 for a mediocre experience and did NOT enhance Mother’s Day. I regret my decision and will never go back for the brunch buffet. Unfortunate.
Way overpriced for very basic Mother’s Day brunch. Would have expected some special items for that price.
Mother’s Day Brunch
I’ve visited Found before for dinner with friends and enjoyed the meal and service very much. Today was a different story. I was celebrating Mother’s Day with my son. Someone called to confirm our reservation 2 hours before and informed me that we wouldn’t be ordering from the regular menu and the brunch buffet was $39 a person. This was not listed anywhere on their the open table site and if it was on their website I wasn’t able to find it. I reluctantly kept my reservation because at that late hour I wouldn’t have been able to find anything else. When we arrived for our reservation we were seated all the way in the back of the restaurant so far from the buffet that by the time we got through the line our food was cold. We were disappointed with the quality of the food. The eggs were runny and the French toast wasn’t cooked in the middle. I was going to mention these issues to the manager, but I wasn’t comfortable complaining in front of my son because I was glad to be with him on Mother’s Day. Overall, the food didn’t live up to the cost and I won’t return for a special occasion where it’s a price fixed meal.
Excellent food! Fresh and delicious. Service was terrific! Wonderful spot for lunch or dinner.
This place has an odd brunch menu. Food is mediocre at best. Selection size too small. Seems overpriced as well. Wouldn’t go back. They are trying too much to be cute. Time for massive overhaul. Won’t go back
Found is a long-time favorite. The menu has enough choices that when eating with a group there's the chance to taste a lot of different things. Service is always great. It is a bit noisy - not a place for "fine" dining but definitely the good place to go with friends.
Eclectic small plates. Nice vibe. Great for special occasions
imaginative, flavorful...a little pricey for portion sizes
Innovative cuisine in a sophisticated-bohemian setting.
