Chips were stale, seating was uncomfortable, calamari wasn’t crunchy and it was too fishy. Overall not a good experience

Beautiful room with a cool vibe. Good options for lunch, including salads (kale with burrata & chix was tasty) and sandwiches. Service was slow this visit -- and then one of the lunch orders was incorrect, and it took a very long time to replace. Otherwise, a good meal.

Dinner before Broadway show, however restaurant was closed and yet I still was able to book a reservation??? Terrible experience. I don't know who to blame - open table or the hotel restaurant!??

Music too loud, food mediocre, service nonchalant.
I would never go back nor recommend and had to apologize for my selection to friends that had come in from Japan.

Their idea of fried chicken sliders is a chicken nugget on a roll with guacamole from a jar. Truly disgusting.

It was disconcerting to be the only dinner patrons in a large restaurant. We had theater tickets and did not have the time to look elsewhere for a more positive atmosphere. Dinner was fine - no complaints; no raves. Service was very good though apologetic - in particular because the menu online was extensive and the actual menu was quite limited. It was explained that the website showed last year’s offerings.

It used to be a place to go, now it is dull and yet very loud with somewhat limited hotel menu. The level of noise and music is unbearable. For the crowd this now dull place can attract they should really tone their stereo down. It is not 2000s any more, no one, even young people are eager to drown their conversation in this unbearable noise. Loud is out of fashion.

I go to Forty Four all the time. It is convenient. They honor reservations. The food is reasonable and decently priced, and the service is very good. The restaurant is, however, desperately in need of a renovation. It is objectively ugly and outdated; it looks like a cruise ship from the 1970s.

Fantastic business lunch. Kale salad with grilled shrimp was delicious, and a generous portion. Caesar salad also looked good. Waters were replenished often (not so much on my iced tea).
Was quiet enough to actually have a conversation, and the space is sleek & sexy.

44 is my go-to for midtown business breakfasts. The tables are spaced far apart, noise level low and service is attentive. Not a people watching spot (go to Michael's for that) just a solid place to meet, eat and talk.

Food was good, but waiter got our order wrong. We ordered two salads; one with chicken and dressing on salad and one plain with dressing on side. It came out with the dressing in side of chicken salad. No big deal, but it happened.

Spectacularly average on every level. No atmosphere and overpriced food. My turkey breast sandwich was stone cold in the middle… how? I took a client to this restaurant and had to apologise to them as it was so bad. There are so many other better restaurants in NYC.

Forty Four is a neighborhood gem, a standout in the land of university clubs (Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Penn and Columbia) and theatre district eateries. From the hostess to the servers, the staff are cordial and welcoming, and attend to every request with grace and efficiency. Food presentation is lovely and the preparation sublime. The chocolate chip cookies are crisp, as I like them, yet the chips are molten. How do they do that?

For dinner and drinks, Forty Four is really lounge seating off the main entrance to the hotel, but it's fun and high energy. Wine and food were good. Service was fast and attentive. My friend and I shared the truffle fries and meatball appetizers and the avocado salad. All yummy.

Had a lovely time, and my friend enjoyed the hickory-smoked old fashioned (a statement drink!). Glasses of wine are expensive. Cheese platter was tasty with great toasted bread slices. Truffle fries were a bit disappointing, but Pimientos were outstanding.

Very good bar scene, if you can reserve and sit on one of the lounge seats even better. The drinks are always good, the Hickory old fashioned is a staple and it never gets boring watching them prepare the drink.

Variety of food choices in a glamorous setting. Attentive service but would have appreciated if server had informed us when asked abut the shrimp appetizer that it was actually quite large instead of advising us it only had 2 shrimp (it had 3 plus generous serving of vegetables) which made it sound small.

This was the worst restaurant experience that I have ever had. First of all, the restaurant was closed for an event and I was told that they can't accommodate me. Then, the host offered me and my 2 guests to sit at a small coffee table located in the walk path of the lounge; I said we were planning for a sit down dinner and there isn't room at that table to hold three plates. There was a slightly larger table in the lounge and we were sat there. The menu was entirely different than what is listed on their website. When I asked the waiter he said "this is the menu, it's good." As I don't eat pork or any other meat, there were no options that I could choose from. I asked a waiter to speak to a manager and he literally saved me off and said that my waiter will be back to help. Finally, we just got up and left. This was incredibly disappointing.

Okay, this actually happened last night, March 28th 2017. Our party of four booked a 5:15 dinner reservation. I was a little leery because of a strange notation on the reservation page, "Please note our dining room section becomes lounge style service after 5:00PM. For questions, please contact the restaurant directly." So I called the restaurant and asked if they served a full dinner menu on Tuesday nights. They said, "Yes, we don't serve dinner on weekends, but we serve our full dinner menu on weeknights". And I've been to the hotel before and know they have a large dining room, so, so far so good. We get there, and the hostess says, "We have a private party booked in the dining room which will take up the entire space, so you have to finish eating by 6 PM. Is that okay?" I said no, that's not okay. Then they tried to seat us by the bar, where there are only tiny bistro tables to eat at. The manager was requested, who gave us one of these patronizing "I'm sorry you feel that way" attitudes. (I seem to recall that the restaurant has my phone number. But no call to say they needed to modify my reservation.) She also said, "We don't really use our dining room". Really, and it's a restaurant? The big favor she did for us was to ask the hotel concierge to find us another reservation, which she did, at DB Moderne across the street. The DB Moderne host said, "Oh yeah, we get a lot of spill-over from that place for some reason". Duh. Do yourself a favor, unless you're eating by yourself, and skip Forty-four.
