Showed up for a 6:45 reservation--sorry, no table. You can sit in the bar--which we did.
So only bar menu plus a few mains. 30 minutes later the server told us what we ordered was sold out. But the fries were good, so we made a meal of that!
Had not been to The Royalton in 20 years, still a great place to grab a drink. Cozy seating areas, fantastic service.
We made a reservation despite some of the less-encouragable reviews.
We decided to call ahead to make sure they were open, and to confirm the reservation. Yes, they're open, yes, see you then!
When we arrived, the place was chaos. There were loads of people everywhere and no clear direction as to where the dining area was, it was noisy and packed. We were told to head to the back for the dining room, which we did, trying to get through a dense, loud crowd and when we got there, they were doing some kind of afterwork event in the dining area, the people were packed in between all the tables - there was no where for us to sit. The staff were unapologetic, unprofessional, and rude, and as a result of having to find another place to dine, we were late for our show.
Forty Four shouldn't be allowed to take reservations until they have systems in place to manage themselves properly.
Food quality was fine. Service, ambiance and noise level were not. Busy hotel restaurant feel.
Very convenient for a business meeting. Ample room to have a meal and look over a few documents.
Chips were stale, seating was uncomfortable, calamari wasn’t crunchy and it was too fishy. Overall not a good experience
They were not open. Why would i be able to make a reservation if you are not open?
We could have made reservations else where if we had known. but instead we were scrambling to find a place that could take us that we actually good food in that area.
Beautiful room with a cool vibe. Good options for lunch, including salads (kale with burrata & chix was tasty) and sandwiches. Service was slow this visit -- and then one of the lunch orders was incorrect, and it took a very long time to replace. Otherwise, a good meal.
Dinner before Broadway show, however restaurant was closed and yet I still was able to book a reservation??? Terrible experience. I don't know who to blame - open table or the hotel restaurant!??
Music too loud, food mediocre, service nonchalant.
I would never go back nor recommend and had to apologize for my selection to friends that had come in from Japan.
