   Everything us wonderful about Fortunato - food, wine menu, service, ambience, etc. But the noise level is high. If that doesn't bother you, I highly recommend.

   Very disappointed on limited menu. EVERYTHING, was an extra cost including Bread & no normal salads. I was not impressed. Probably will not return.

    Food was dynamite, especially the zeppoli to finish everything off. Our server knew her stuff too, from wine to Italian cuisine! We plan to come back.

    What I love about Fortunato’s is the consistency of the food and service. I got the baked shells and they were excellent and my wife got the large Minestrone soup. We also got the fresh bread and the calamari with marinara on the side. Great time and meal

    Trevor, our waiter, was excellent- he was there when we needed him and not overly present. He answered questions, gave personal comment on items when asked and was professionally attentive. The food overall was delicious, with a couple items that were special.

    Firstly, they have Botanist gin that only great bars carry and can make a lovely martini. While they offered some delicious sounding specials, I stuck with my go-to, the whole branzino. It was perfect and the cauliflower side was really amazing. The chefs choice semifredo was a creamy delight, and the service could not have been better. The pricing is what one would expect to pay for the portions and type of dishes they serve, in a very cosmopolitan and hip space.

    Fortunato's never disappoints! Tonight our guests included a young man from Bologna, who was so impressed he asked if. The chef were Italian. Impeccably cooked, Impeccable ingredients and the star of the evening was the Sprezzatina di cuore. And who would expect beef heart to be that delectable? My lamb meatballs were perfectly succulent. The service was wonderful, again as ALWAYS. Fortunato is a true hidden gem amon Roanoke's many outstanding restaurants. We will always be loyal customers of this great downtown enoteca.

    Seated immediately even though we were about 20 minutes ahead of our reservation. Our server gave us few minutes to go over the drink menu and went over the specials. We had one of the charcuterie selections and the split a pizza and the duck ragu, all were excellent and plenty of food. Pizza stood out as the best. Weakest part of the meal were the drinks, good but not great. For the money they could use a higher shelf liquor. For my second went with my stand by, a Trace OF. We will definitely be back, especially with the menu changes at Lucky down the street. Top 3 experience in the Roanoke restaurant scene!

    My husband and I had an amazing date night! The atmosphere was perfect and the food and drinks were even better! We had Sarah as our server and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. We will be back!

    We had excellent food and service by Hannah. The Branzino was wonderful, perfectly grilled, and we enjoyed their carbonara, arugula salad and a fabulous semifreddo. Fortunato has a very nice wine list and interesting wines by the glass as well.

    Trevor's suggestions were spot on, we thoroughly enjoyed the Charred Escarole and Radicchio, the Bianco pizza, the special Patate pizza, and recommended Larner red blend. It was a lovely meal to share with friends including a vegetarian.

    Fortunato is our go-to for great Pizza and Italian! The service is always impeccable, and the food is always outstanding! The atmosphere is low-key and relaxing. We always have a great time and appreciate the little tweaks to the menu that make each visit unique. We are already thinking about our next visit!

    Our meal at Fortunato was amazing. From the salumi to the entrees, everything was delicious. I had the carbonara, so creamy and well done (no cream! Egg yolks as it is!) The Bolognese was outstanding as well. It does get a little loud, but it is a fun restaurant.

    Everything was GREAT except our seats! We were the first to be seated in the restaurant but they seated us right by the entrance to the bar. The noise level coming out of the bar made it extremely difficult to hear each other. Be warned: sit near the back entrance if you wish to easily carry on a conversation! The closer to the front you sit, the harder it will be to hear. What a shame the opening between the bar and restaurant is so wide.
