Great restaurant. Great atmosphere. Scott is amazing. I always ask for Scott when visiting Fortunato. He definitely knows the menu and drinks ....and helps with recommendations. Its my number one restaurant for Roanoke.
We had a delicious supper, enjoyed a wine suggestion and amazing food. Best dinner in Roanoke, by far.
Outstanding food and service! Our server was friendly and personable
Last minute decision to stop in for a late bite. The menu was perfect for what I was looking for. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I will return and recommend!
Very disappointing experience. Food was greasy, overcooked, too expensive. There is a $4.00 charge for bread, something that server failed to tell us when offering to bring bread. Servers were not very friendly. We had to ask for cheese for our pasta, and instead of freshly grated cheese, our server brought a small half cup of cheese, barely enough for one person. We will not be going back.
Fortunato was average, which is a bit disappointing based on the price points. Beef carpacchio starter was beef (did appear to be good quality), arugula with a small amount of cheese and a pile of what appeared/tasted to be raw garlic plopped in the middle. Pork osso buco and the 3 meat stew both had reasonable flavor (osso buco was tastier), but were not served particularly hot. Service was luke warm - we weren't left wanting for anything, but it wasn't particularly friendly or attentive. The adjoining bar was friendly, informative and the bartenders were very knowledgeable and helpful, with a dry humor that made the visit more fun. Perhaps a visit to the bar and then one of the pizzas might be a better option next time.
Great place for good food. Love the ambience. Would recommend for a nice evening out.
Food was excellent, our server was outstanding and very knowledgeable. Price was reasonable, especially considering the quality of food.
Exciting food choices that are well prepared. Attentive and helpful service that know there menu.
Marvelous Mediterranean style food, with offerings not found elsewhere in Roanoke. Big city quality and flair. Great place for a celebration!
Wonderful food and service in a hip downtown space. The pasta is amazing!
The food, the drinks, Scott, the waiter, Jeff the chef, all spectacular.
We continue to be impressed with Fortunato. It's always good, and the service is great no matter how busy they are - and they are often busy. This dinner was a celebration with friends and everyone loved it! It made by birthday celebration special!!!
It was great!
We were staying at the Hotel Roanoke and picked Fortunato from the review on Trip Advisor. Fortunato was very busy with people waiting. We enjoyed it all right but was not anything special. I don't know that we picked well or what. Service was erratic because they were very busy. The drink specials were expensive and we didn't like it. Probably will not go back.
Fantastic craft cocktails. Tasty and unique food. Super wine list. What more can I say?
Everything was lovely. I order the pizza and my only complaint would be it was a bit to runny for me, I like a firm crust and not a lot of sauce.
Food, wine and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend!!!
One of our favorite places! Outstanding cocktails, fabulous food, perfect date night!
We had a lovely dining experience. The food was excellent. The drinks and wine were superb. The service was outstanding. One of the owners visited with us during our visit. What a great touch!
Overall pretty good! Osso Bucco was a little over done but fun place for a date.
Only real complaint is the portion size relative to the price left something to be desired. Otherwise, service was polite and timely, ambiance was gorgeous, and the food tasted spectacular. 4.5/5 highly recommend
Wonderful menu choices. Food was delicious! Gracious service.
We made a reservation 5 weeks prior. They weren’t prepared to seat us at a decent table for two. They offered us a six top in the back of the room, where one of us would be looking at a wall. We opted for the bar and the evening was actually really nice, but that shouldn’t have happened.
Another satisfying dinner with good house wine and
attentive service. Duck Ragu and Pasta Bolognaise.
Amazing food in a great tucked away location. Our waiter was amazing too! The food and wine pairings were excellent! One of our new favorites!
Some of the meals looked wonderful. The pasta and pork looked very good and the people lived them. I had the pollo and it was moist and tender but not very flavorful. Service was excellent. Overall very good and will return
Great night out on a couples date night.
The food, drinks and service were beyond excellent. We were not rushed. All of the staff were friendly helpful and beyond courteous . The noise level was somewhat excessive which made conversation for our party of three difficult.
We visited during restaurant week and had the $20 dinner with pizza. Love the Prosciutto and mushroom pizza! We ate early prior to a theatre production and it was quite loud with happy hour folks. Have eaten here previously several times and food is always quite good. A bit loud generally but previously not as pronounced. My daughter is vegan and the vegan pizza option is a definite plus for us.
A very knowledgeable server, excellent service, outstanding food and plenty of it. Another wonderful meal for Restaurant Week.
Just love this place. It's welcoming and amazing at the same time. Uncommonly good and approachable at the same time...
Potatoes on Pizza? Try it!
Our second dinner over 2 years. Food is above average.. Our waitress was great! The room was cold (about 65 degrees. ( was a cold night).
It was during restaurant week and the place was full. The room we are in could have used a second waitress
the red wine recommended was average was average.
Fortunato is truly one of the best dining experiences in Roanoke. The quality of the food and service is fantastic; and, being able to reliably -- and safely -- order a gluten-free meal is so appreciated. It's one of downtown's best spots.
Tried the restaurant week option, salad was so so. Meatballs were good. Greens were bitter. Overall it was ok but not great. Many other things on the menu that looked interesting so likely would give it another chance.
Went to Fortunato during Restaurant Week with two others. There was one $35 dinner option which we all selected . It included
-Insalata Tritata - a salad of brussel sprouts and other accents. It was a huge serving, was very fresh and crisp, but needed additional dressing.
- Lamb Meatballs in Marinara sauce with Fontina. Delicious!!! Served in a small cast iron pan to keep them hot. Again - a very large serving. The meatballs were tender and the sauce had a perfect hint of sweetness. Just yummy!
- Porchetta with Polenta and greens. Another very large serving which none of us could finish (thank you doggie-bags). The pork was tender and nicely seasoned. The greens were quite spicy - a bit too much for me.
- Service was excellent and efficient. The place was packed by the time we left. It was a very nice evening - even int he pouring rain.
Will definitely back again soon.
The food was amazing , I ordered the beet salad And duck with spadhiti , they were delicious 😋
I will come again for sure
The hostess was extremely cold and unfriendly. We were a party of five sat at what should have been a two top. There were other more spacious open tables. The waiter was rushed and aloof. The level of service we received was very disappointing. The food was excellent, but due to our overall experience we won't be dining here again for quite a while.
This restaurant has wonderful food and delicious quality cocktails. I will return again! The roasted olives are especially tasty.
An amazing restaurant in Roanoke to get a handcrafted cocktail or a phenomenal meal.
