Stunning food and relaxing and comfortable setting. A little expensive but given the location and quality, not too much so.
I do enjoy coming to F&M for lunch when in London. However, I did feel that on this occasion the food was not of the same quality as previous visits. I had the Christmas lunch of two courses mains and dessert. It did feel as though we were quite rushed as well, I do understand it is very busy and quick turnover is required, however, the staff were very quick to bring courses and refill glasses as though they were under pressure to clear tables as quick as possible. I would however recommend this restaurant as this is the first time this has happened when dining there.
Good quality food, great service, helpful and friendly staff. Not rushed at all.
A lovely lunch, the staff were attentive without being overbearing and you did not feel rushed
As a treat yes I would. However you need to work on your Service. It was slow and un co-ordinated. Our tea arrived at least 10 minutes before our cake - no hot food involved so couldn’t understand the delay.
Also we were billed for still water thar we did not receive. Catching your staffs eye to make them aware wa almost impossible.
The Gallery was the perfect place to meet for brunch with a good friend who I haven’t seen for a long time. We both enjoyed our Eggs Benedict and Buck Rarebit and the tea and coffees were just perfect. Ambience refined but relaxed with just enough background conversation but not intrusive. One minor detail was very slow service which could have been irritating had we not been chatting so much and the presentation of the Eggs Benedict was a little untidy with hollandaise smeared across the plate. Otherwise the staff were perfectly pleasant and I had no complaints.
Has always been my little treat when I'm down in London.
We arrived just as the kitchen was closing, but we were waited on immediately. The food was served promptly, and was delicious. We were not rushed at all.
Sunday lunch...Not anywhere near as good as usual. The service was excellent and had we have had time, I would have returned some of the food on this occasion. It was not hot but lukewarm especially the cauliflower cheese and the portions were not as generous as on previous occasions, when the roast used to be carved in front of you- no longer the case. However, we will no doubt visit again.
Having started a little Christmas shopping and taking in the wonderful decorations and ambience, it was wonderful to be able to reward ourselves with a lovely meal in The Gallery restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful and very attentive. Highly recommended to complete your Fortnum & Mason experience!
A little bit too noisy and service not so efficient. Food is nice. The scones are wonderful.
Busy once it gets to around midday on a weekend. Very generous sized portions on the lunch menu - especially the soups! Pies are full of good quality meat. Would recommend.
Verjaardagslunch met champagne!
Nice breakfast actually very quiet first thing on a Saturday morning
Great food, excellent service and good value for money. A lovely place for a get together with friends
Loved it. The service is always outstanding. So friendly and professional
This is a great venue which I have visited many times. At this time it was especially good as we had visitors from America we were meeting and everything about the location, surroundings and the Fortnum & Masons shop itself is great. The staff at the Gallery Restaurant were especially friendly and helpful and the menu itself had an excellent range of choices suitable for all appetites. As on past visits each item served was really well cooked, presented and tasty.
Great for a quick bite and nice atmosphere in the store.
The scones were delicious! Freshly baked. We got served right away. Nothing negative to say about that place.
What a lovely place for lunch! Beautiful food, friendly and efficient service in the perfect location. The 181 Piccadilly salmon is absolutely delicious!
Pleasant meeting place with good choice of food for lunch. Poor service. Staff not attentive and difficult to find.
Seated quickly in a sunny spot with not ventilation, I was hot and asked for water three times. It took over 15 minutes to arrive (by jug) and we were then charged for a bottle- which was removed by waiter.
Slow service yet friendly and impeccable .
I love fortnums and have frequented for over 25 years - I will always love it. Please ensure you speak up!
Lovely oasis of calm. Delicious food, attentive service.
May I please suggest that your staff are trained to deliver food and drink to the right of patrons and thereby avoid putting their elbows in the faces of those seated? This is a common fault at restaurants these days and can be avoided most of the time, space permitting etc. At our table in the window there was plenty of space to avoid this unseemly delivery of food, drink, cutlery etc.
You are not alone in allowing this lack of good old fashioned curtesy to prevail and would set a benchmark if you could stamp it out! A little training would do the trick!
Very pleasant staff, good atmosphere.
Nice venue close to transport menu quite good staff helpful and friendly
Although this experience at F&M was a huge let down I would still recommend. I’ve been going to F&M for many years now and this breaks my heart to write a bad review. However I would still go back. But no go at a late time as they run out of food, very slow service and pretty much cold food.
We had to wait such a long time for our drinks. Our mains took extremely long to cook. We had no one tend to our table for over an hour and every time we had a Waiter it was a different one.
Scones with clotted cream were way overpriced and didn't even taste that great. I was a bit dissapointed after I read all the good revues about "the best scones with clotted cream in London". Pity.
Excellent service and food. Warm and welcoming.
Food was good but server was inattentive and inconsistent with us.
Steak was over cooked and very dry. Lemon meringue tart was tasty but pastry rock hard, had to leave most of it.
Good food & service in a pleasant setting. The staff were helpful and efficient although they were very busy.
Not impressed with the choice of food and friend had chicken pie and it was full of skin. She did mention it and they did refund her but not good enough
Superb lunch as always
Disappointing experience. Took a long time to get service and had to ask even for water multiple times. When the food finally arrived it was cold. Food was overdressed and one guest's salad dressing was so salty she couldn't eat it. Go for the shopping but eat somewhere else.
Greeted very pleasantly and well looked after by several members of staff. Food was delicious.😀
So disappointed, I took my friend for her 50th birthday breakfast.
The food choice was limited, breakfast ok, but nothing special at all.
There was no atmosphere and the service was just about satisfactory until we wanted to pay.
I waited ages to attract the attention of a waiter and eventually decided to pay at the till.
They added a compulsory service charge...... I wouldn’t have given them a tip!
The food is fabulous but the service, specifically the wait time for good was not acceptable. Our server was very good in keeping us informed and took service charge off the bill but 40 minutes wait for food is not good enough.
Food was delicious. For a roast the meat was rare which I like, the Yorkshire pudding was light and fluffy and the roast potatoes were great. However very little veg served with it! Service was also a bit slow and had to remind them about drinks etc
We had to chase our drinks several times. When they did arrive they were completely wrong and had to go back. the food was good but again we seemed to be a bit forgotten and our meals were served to the wrong table first. Now things go wrong and I accept that especially if the restaurant tries to put it right.
So the fact that they put the full service charge on the bill and made no concession to what had happened until we showed our disappointment, annoyed me. I'm not after a free meal, just a bit of recognition, the service was not up to scratch for us that day, before you present the bill.
