Fortnum & Mason Gallery Restaurant
Very attentive but discreet service. Relaxing atmosphere. The best caeser salad we have had. Excellent wine list , we had the rose wine from Cornwall which ticked all the boxes. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant . Lovely treat.
the service. staff and ambiance were perfect for lunching, F & M Gallery Restaurant is a lovely place to meet with friends and family for a delicious lunch. Would recommend to anyone .
Waitress was very strange. She was moody but trying to be professional at the same time, in fact most the staff were very glum even though the atmosphere in Fortnum is always electric.
The waitress did not know what 'Halal food' was.
Wanted to buy some Moroccan tea from the tea counter but they only had a blend of green tea with the mint. We asked the tea expert was there any Moroccan mint tea just on its own which the reply was shockingly that 'mint tea is a green tea because it is green in colour', which we all know is hogwash (it also states the ingredients on the box that it is a blend of green tea and Moroccan mint). Anyway, the Moroccan loose mint tea was on display in the tea room but the jar was empty.
Common people tighten up!
Horrible service. Waiter was not friendly
On arrival staff were very welcoming.
Food selection excellent.
Overall a great experience
We have been several times for special occasions, so had booked this to celebrate our 25th Silver wedding. Unfortunately we only discovered that the store was closed, due to a power outage which had affected a large area of Piccadilly and Regent Street the previous night, when we arrived at the specified time. We were contacted by telephone later to inform us of this fact.! The customer service member had to remake the appointment for 2 days later.
We came back to the Gallery to enjoy our belated meal, which was as usual very tasty. We enjoyed the breaded fish and a Buck rarebit, followed by variety of ice creams and a Pavlova. The plate of which had thoughtfully had Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on it. We then finished off with our enjoyment of a cup of tea. The staff as usual were very polite, attentive and quick in service.
So thank you to all for a delicious meal, but the only grumble was that we were not contacted earlier about the electrical problem, even though staff knew about it, as it was therefore a memorable day but not necessarily for the right reason.
The ambiance is calm and civilised, service excellent but the food is really ‘ordinary ‘
Pea risotto exactly that- peas but very little rice, fish and chips, could do much better at my local chippie
My sister and I took our Mother for a birthday lunch. We were shown to our table and asked if we and drinks, my sister asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc off the menu. The waitress returned a few minutes later to tell her that they had run out and would she like to choose something thing else. We later discovered many bottles of Sauvignon Blanc in the Foodhall so can only assume the restaurant had none chilled which is very poor stock management. We ordered our lunch which arrived promptly and looked very appetising. My mum and sister ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the cod steak. When I cut into my fish it was raw in the middle, our waitress came over and I pointed this out to her and she went to fetch ‘her manager’ who came, saw and took my plate away. I had to wait quite a while for a replacement by which time my mum and sister had finished their lunches. We then ordered desserts which were very nice, followed by tea. My sister chose Moroccan Mint but the leaves were so fine that they fell through the strainer and she could not drink it all because of all the bits floating in her cup. I have had several afternoon teas at F&M over the years which have been superb but I will definitely not return to the Gallery restaurant again. Overall it was very disappointing.
The service was extremely poor. I had to ask several times for two dishes.
We were there after 7.00pm and made to feel fairy uncomfortable. Given that the store is open until 9.00pm you need to make it clearer on your website that you will be asked to leave at 7.00pm and this is not last orders.
A most enjoyable lunch as always, the food excellent and the wines. It’s a lovely venue after a special occasion. We visited many times and it’s always excellent!
Delightful venue for lively lunch with old friends.
A very nice place for a relaxing classy afternoon lunch or tea. We have the large plate of Smoked Scottish salmon and it was more than enough for the two of us. But then, we weren’t starving. That with a couple glasses of British Champagne and we were set for a walk in the park!
Lovely venue and convenient for transport. Not good that the two wines we ordered were unavailable so had to choose another. Also, no fresh fruit available for pudding for me as I am unable to eat anything that has sugar added to it. As the basement sells fruit and veg, it can’t be too difficult to get a banana and chop it up and top it with a blob of cream.
A customer for forty years. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The food and experience just keeps on getting better, how do they do it?
A relaxed and informal restaurant but somehow you are always conscious that this is fortnums and so, just a little bit special, as a day tourist. The food was well seasoned, the lamb ,steak and cod all delicious, service friendly and attentive.
F&M has become a tourist trap. The wait staff doesn't understand English and the prices are outrageous. The menu had a lunch main course of asparagus and I asked the waiter if it was white asparagus and he said "yes". The plate came and it was 6 spears of GREEN asparagus! At current exchange rates that was $2.50 PER SPEAR. F&M used to be a nice place (and the tea is still the best) but otherwise it is to be avoided as yet another London tourist trap.
Lovely restaurant, excellent friendly service , couldn't fault it
I visit London on a regular basis and always book to have breakfast in Fortnum and Mason, usually with a glass of champagne. This was no different, it was so good I had tea there later in the afternoon after a days shopping. I have never been disappointed and will be back there in 3 weeks time.
Excellent service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere.
Our waitress was delightful as was the lady who greeted us, it’s stuff like this that keeps us returning. Will be back again on 7 June with a large party for a lady’s 99th birthday ...... looking forward to it already
When we arrived - having booked a table in advance of course - it wasn't ready and we just had to stand there - there's nowhere to sit - while we waited for a table. It was so embarrassing - too embarrassing for me to risk bringing clients to The Gallery again.
Fortnum & Mason's Gallery restaurant is my restaurant of choice for lunch. Easy to book - attentive service and good food with plenty of choice.
I always recommend it to my friends from out of town.
Had lunch here for a friends birthday, good quality food and excellent service, would definitely recommend
Disappointed. I had high expectations of the rarebit & though it was high quality and tasty, at £9.75 for cheese on toast I expected 2 slices but only got one. The bread was thin sliced & flat, not the malty doorstop I hoped for. The tea was delicious (English Breakfast) but a little late served after the food arrived and lukewarm. I was still pretty hungry when I left. Shan’t book here again.
Excellent service. Fast, efficient and very comfortable
We always eat at The Gallery restaurant whenever we are in London and we are never disappointed. On this visit the watercress soup and harissa chicken were simply exceptional. Can't wait for our next visit!
The staff was rude and not welcoming,if 1 person want to order set menu and another person only drink they refuse and ask to go to first floor then first floor send to g floor where they dont have afternoon set .
Lovely setting with delicious and beautifully fresh food. Perfect for a girly lunch with my mum. Ask for a table at the window as this has great views and a little quieter, away from the shop floor.
Very good selection for the Gallery tea - tasty and well presented. Excellent customer service - enjoyable experience and great venue for dining with friends.
Great lunch and our food was excellent. Service was on the ball
Just perfect for my Dad's birthday! We would definitely recommend for any event :)
Absolutely perfect for a Sunday birthday lunch - just sad I did not have room for a dessert but maybe next time !!!!
Lovely table by window. Salads were delicious. Waitress was so nice and interested in our relationship without being creepy. Cake portion too large but delicious. Bit expensive for lunch but paying for the ambience
While it is busy during afternoon tea there are plenty of lunch items to chose from.
Of course the tea and scones are a major draw.
Good was poor. Service very good and attentive.
Vegetarian options were not nice and well below expected standard.
Very disappointed by poor staff attention. It was not busy in restaurant, but many staff were there but walking around with their heads in the air. Also the House Salade that I had with my toasted sandwich was just 2 mouthfuls of chopped up lettuce for £4.25 - very poor. Scones, jam and cream were very good - after along wait after our sandwiches
It’s always a pleasure to eat at the Gallery Restaurant. The menu was excellent with good variety for all tastes. We had a throughly enjoyable lunch and will certainly return soon.
Extremely willing staff. Excellent lunch of high standard which can take a while to prepare.
Disappointed that we had to wait for a table despite being on time for our reservation. Staff were efficient and friendly when we got seated. Food was delicious. Ambience was fine if a bit busy and noisy.
As tourists we wanted to try the best afternoon tea in the area. The tea was really delicious and perfectly warm. The service was amazing, our waiters were all very friendly. Make a reservation, this is imperative if you don’t want to wait!
