I was looking forward to this day so much.l can't fault the reception desk ladies. Lovely welcome. We were taken to our seats. Then a young waitress came and gave us the menus. And ask if we wanted any water, gave reply. Ordered the food and the tea. When the tea came it wasn't very hot and when the food arrived. We found that the bread was a bit stale but didn't have the nerve to complain about it. Then l tried to get the tension for a waitress but l found it quiet hard as all the staff were all near 1 Station Point. When l did get noticed the waitress did come over. I had to ask for clean plates after eating the sandwiches as the coronation chicken marked the plant. I felt that l was wrong to ask. Also l did order more tea and when it came over it wasn't hot, just warm. As it was on the counter just sitting therefor a while.
But another waitress could of brought it over instead. When we started to eat the scones we found that we had only 1 spoon for 2 jams which we found odd. Surely there should of been 2 spoons. But couldn't get any eye contact with any waitresses again. But when l did look around l found that there was 4 staff round 1 customer, also l found that no one came over to ask if everything was OK. But round us did. I'm sorry to say that l felt very disappointed with the service and the sandwiches. I took my partner there to have a lovely time as he has never be before and he said that he wouldn't came again. He said that we had better service at Betty's in Harrogate then at Fortum&masons.

Lovely afternoon tea with my friend, tried both sweet and savory afternoon tea. Cream and jam are gorgeous, not to mention you can ask more if you want. The lemon coconut cake I took away is really delicious!!

The service was amazing from moment we arrived. Staff acknowledged my reason for visiting (“birthday celebration”) and wished my friend a Happy Birthday. Attending server was great and funny. He had other staff members come out to sing Happy Birthday to my friend. It was her first visit at Fortum & Mason and she fell in love with everything. Thank you for making this a memorable day for her.

Nice atmosphere and sandwiches were good. Tea water starting to age and the scones were hard as biscuits and cold. Given the price your paying is more than Ritz afternoon tea I would expect it to be atleast at the same standard.

We visited on Sunday November 10, 2019 at approx 1230 pm. We had to ask for water twice. No one came to check up on us. We had to ask for more tea. We had to ask for more sandwiches and desserts. We had to ask for the bill. We had to flag someone down to pay the bill. To be honest, I expected more from Fortnum & Mason. Piano player quite nice and it is a lovely store, however.

If you have never had high tea, or even if you have, this is the quintessential place to experience it. The reservation process was easy, the hostesses were lovely and welcoming, and the service was outstanding. The selection is equally impressive as you are not limited to just tea and cakes. You can choose breakfast such as Eggs Royale, and the tea selection is impressive.

Kept waiting 25 minutes, asked for one afternoon tea with just plain scones, all three arrived plain.
We got them changed, we asked for some more sandwiches 15 minutes later they still hadn’t arrived, spoke to a supervisor who quickly brought us some, had to ask for more tea, just one pot arrived.
Really disappointed as on all my previous visits it has been perfect.

I will not recommend them in the future although this is my 4th visit I felt that that were extremely disappointing this time and sorely patronising. I was there (2) weeks ago and it was a completely different picture. I myself am in the service industry and what I abhor is an 'excuse' of being busy. Being busy is a good thing and it ought not to impinge on the level of service that is given to customers. Unfortunately, they have let me down and considering that I had foreign guests visiting, they were not impressed. I waited approximately (50) minutes to be seated. Had it not been raining and cold I would have walked away. Then to be told I would be given a complementary glass of champagne is not good enough. This unfortunately cannot compensate for lost my time. And to add insult to injury the young lady said to me ' I will give you a NICE table.' … are there some NOT so nice tables that I could have possibly received? I was so disappointed that it completely spoilt my entire experience! You have been in this business for a very long time.. so being busy should NEVER affect the way that you function. And more importantly it should NOT affect the service that you give. What I would have appreciated for your demise is this…
That lady who offered me the NICE table should have come over at some point to ensure that everything is ok.
The manager came over, but she was also very patronising making excuses of being busy
Do not even be o presumptuous as to include service charge at that point. Our service was deplorable.
Something EXTRAs should have been done to compensate e.g. remove the cost of (1) of the (5) guests that we were paying for. THAT is worth my paying a service charge for. Nothing less than that.
So, no... I shall NOT be recommending Fortnum and mason in the future.

We had a reservation at 3:45pm, when we arrived, we was told that have to wait in here because there are many people in front of us. After asking the other people who is also waiting, I know that every one has reservation but every one need to wait. Why it was happen? So Why people make the reservation? I think maybe time control is important to u. And I t is really not a good experience.

A very pleasant afternoon tea spoilt by a 45 minute wait in a noisy cramped waiting area with nobody to tell us what was happening. We had to ask 4 times when our table would be ready.
Thank you for the complementary glass of bubbles but this length of delay is poor and I would hesitate to return again.

I've only agreed to the recommendation, if they sort out their timing and waiting staff. We had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated - the reception area was getting very crowded. Service wasn't that good. Champagne was put in front of us without asking if we wanted a glass. We had to ask for cutlery. Not enough preserves and cream for the scones. No explanation to the cakes. No 'doggie bag' offered to us to take home. Other than that the food was good, but not worth £72. I've been on numerous occasions and this was the worst visit, sad as I was treating family for a special occasion. Ashame dress code isn't adhered to.

It was so so busy. Saturday afternoon. Table not ready we waited 15 minutes. When seated we then waited 35 minutes for tea. We were celebrating a 70th birthday. Staff were in short supply. Nevertheless a lovely treat.

We arrived early for our 14:30 reservation at the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon. We, like everyone else, were sent to the cloakroom and told our table would be available in a few minutes. There was pressure from the host staff to visit the coatroom and leave our coats there. We dropped our coats and went to the restroom, then returned to the lobby at 14:30.

We waited about fifteen minutes before inquiring about our table at 14:45. We were told they were preparing the table, and that it would be ready soon. After a few minutes minutes, someone else approached us, addressed our group by name, and said they were preparing our table and it would be a few minutes. At 14:55, we spoke with the hostess and explained that we'd been told three times that our table would be "ready in a few minutes," but continued to wait. Since this restaurant requires a deposit and expects patrons to arrive on time, they in turn should seat guests on time. They did offer us each a glass of champagne for the wait, but the wait was far too long and other similarly-sized parties were consistently seated before us.

Once we were seated, the staff was excellent. Servers were incredibly friendly and helpful. Bliss was a very attentive server and explained each dish and tea carefully. Staff were patient while we translated for a non-English speaker with our group.

The gluten-free Afternoon Tea was filled with a variety of delicious GF options, and there was even a dessert option after tea. The gluten free scones were absolutely delicious and I'd return just for the scones (minus the wait).

Very disappointing. Booked a table for 4.45. Table was not ready when we arrived and had to wait 20 mins in a noisy foyer with very little space to sit as it was busy. Sandwiches for the gluten free menu were rather dry and one of the fruit scones was rock hard. Not what I expected from Fortnum and Mason. When my husband paid the bill a service charge of 12.5% had been added making our bill £136 - rather expensive for a less than average Tea !!

I used your restaurant at 12:15 yesterday. 
First, I requested a menu change just a few minutes after I ordered the menu, but it was rejected. 
I visited this place after flying 12 hours in Korea, but I could only meet one menu. 
And I didn't hear any explanation when the meal was served. 
They seem to ignore that we don't understand. 
And I asked for warm water, but it was provided after I requested it twice more. 
In addition, our next-door tablecloth replacement caused us very heavy dust. 
Without any understanding. 
Our first trip to England feels like a mess with your restaurant. 
I was very disappointed in your restaurant which I visited with great expectation. 
I feel so bad that I can't sleep.
Please don't discriminate between race and country.

Two of the essential things of an afternoon tea experience (imho) didn’t happen, the waiting staff who was serving our table didn’t introduce himself, and when the food came, another staff didn’t explain the food (even when her colleague reminded her to after helping her bring the food out).
Tea and food also took a bit too long to come.
However, after asking for the food to be explained, the staff seemed to be more attentive.
Sandwiches are nice, particularly the coronation chicken and smoked salmon, not too fond of the mint and cucumber. My friend had the smokey earl grey, which he thought was quite different. To me, it smelt a bit like the Chinese fermented tea, pu’er. Haha
Lemon curd was a bit on the sweet side, could do with more citrus taste. The sweet dishes weren’t to our liking, but that’s just our individual tastes, not necessarily an indication of poor food.
We were eventually too full to try their patisserie cakes, but it was offered to us that we can take away.
Overall, the experience wasn’t too bad.

Very pricey for what it offers!Great service and ambient. Food was good but not something special. Sandwiches were ok. We didn’t like the cucumber and mint. Scones tasted good but needed more attention as they were breaking unevenly when cut making it difficult to add the cream and the strawberry jam or lemon curd. All other cakes were delicious.

Far below the expectations one may have for a place like Fortnum & Mason and not worth the money : no atmosphere, poor service, it seems more like a tourist place rather than a London institution.
Although when I complained about the not satisfactory experience the customer service was very attentive and responsive and tried to find a solution to better my general experience with F&M. So I increased my overall evaluation from 2 to 3 stars

Pleasant but patchy service. Sandwiches refreshed when we asked. I left a bag behind and that was dealt with well. China was scratched. Ambiance similar to Fenwicks but price much higher. Less special than Harrods. Price similar to top hotels but food very ordinary certainly nothing special.

We had a birthday celebration there. We couldn’t finish our sandwiches and cakes so we had them packed to go. We got home to find only half the cakes were packed and no sandwiches. We paid a lot money for someone to forget to pack our food. No refund or compensation was offered.

Such a shame we had such a bad experience but we didn’t get any food nor water until 45 mins after we were seated and we had to flag someone down every time we wanted anything. They have us a discount but only when we asked for it. After paying £60 for some a sandwich and a scone, I’d expect much better if not faultless service

The staff were absolutely superb. Our table for 3 consisted of a Vegan, Vegetarian & severe food allergies... they handled us with care & professionalism. The store and restaurant were BEAUTIFUL. You get what you pay for! Treat yourself!
