Fortify Kitchen and Bar Ratings and Reviews
All of our entrees were delicious to look at though I couldn't taste them all due to allergies.
Our server, Jeremy was attentive and fun, too. The lamb chops I had with the brussel sprouts were perfectly prepared and my dessert was bested by the cheesecake to my right;-)!!
Thanks to the chefs!!
We have eaten here a lot but the New Year’s Eve set menu was the best meal we have had here.
Reasonable price for lobster and filet entree with 3-4 appetizers and 3 dessert choices. Service always good, friendly, accommodating. The sauces were unusually good and seemed lighter than usual, which enhanced the flavors.
My wife had lamb 2 wYs appetizer and it was a lot of food and exceptionally good. I had a duck breast salad that was excellent. I don’t eat beef so in place of the filet I got 4 wonderful scallops.
My wife had a wonderful chocolate dessert and I had a macaroon Napoleon dessert, which was crispier than I’m used to and really outstanding.
We talked about this meal the next day too it was so good.
I thank Fortify for opening it's doors on Christmas Eve, this year a Sunday which, is a day restaurant is normally closed.
My decision for a lower rating was a server brought out entrée when I was only 1/2 way through finishing my appertizer.
He just stood there with entrée in hand waiting for me to make room or give up my most enjoyable appertizer.
After some time past I said, "what would you have me do" ?
With no reply he placed entrée on edge of table and hustled away.
We were seated right away with our made ahead reservations. The food was delicious, as usual, and the service was prompt and servers knowledgeable. We love to hear about the daily specials and usually get one. The grouper special that night was very good! Shared a creme burlee for dessert and it was also very good! Great place for special occasions, or a nice lunch.
Truly farm to table fresh, local ingredients. Chef Jamie and his staff have never let us down!
As usual, Fortify did not disappoint. I am just so happy to have this gem in our little mountain town. I ordered the Red Grouper special while others in my party ordered the pork tenderloin, the scallops, and the chicken entrees. All were perfectly executed. We are all restaurant people and we were all thoroughly impressed, which is often hard to do. Service was spot on, our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, but not overly so. Every detail is well thought out, from Carlton's cocktails to the house-made bread and butter, to the menu. If you are in the area, this is a must-stop! The atmosphere is casual and the value is great but if you are looking for something even more casual, their pizza counterpart (Fortify Pi) is delicious as well. Thank you Fortify for a memorable evening and a delicious kickoff to the holidays!
we've eaten there twice. both times the food has been imaginative and superb. service is attentive and unobtrusive. I had grouper with a pumpkin seed crust on butternut squash risotto with apple brown butter sauce than had me scouring the plate with leftover bread to make sure nothing was left behind. even vanilla ice cream for dessert is not "plain vanilla" -- it all just tasted better and better. yes, your credit card will get a workout, but this is no ordinary food and no fast food burger joint. in Clayton!
We have followed this chef in three venues. He is very creative and his menu is always varied with something for everyone. The only problem that we had was the 20 degree winds blowing into the restaurant. Wish they had a buffer zone to keep patrons warmer. The food and service were superb!
When I knew our cousins from Texas, originally Georgia, would visit us, Fortify came to mind for a special night out. We all were pleased and enjoyed the great specials as well as the menu item that is irresistible, Gouda Pimento Cheese Fritters. There is so much talent coming forth from Jamie Alred's kitchen and I am looking forward to meeting a friend next week for lunch.
My husband and I were on a date a few hours away from Atlanta, and I'm so glad I found this place! At first we were doing to eat at a fancy farmhouse, but they were booked, then the other 'fine dining' restaurant listed under Trip Advisor never even returned our message. So we read the incredible reviews for Fortify, and had to try it.
You walk into an incredible room full of energy, music, laughter and great decor. Then...they tried to seat us in the back room, which to get to you must walk through the restaurant and past the bathrooms and the kitchen. It was dull and quiet back there. No ambiance. We quickly told the seater we would be willing to wait for a table up front, even if we had to grab a drink somewhere else first while waiting. He moved us to a cozy table by a comfortable padded bench seat in the front, and then it was great. Definitely request a table IN THE FRONT ROOM if you make a reservation.
For some reason, even though I'm a huge meat eater, the fresh veggies of the day sounded so tempting. I asked the server if I could create a veggie plate, and she told me that even though it wasn't on the menu, they had one. It came out with rice underneath, delicious quinoa and black bean cakes, hot broccoli, mushrooms and yellow squash -- plus you get to add another one of their fresh veggies of the day! It was excellent. The creamy basil pesto that came on the side was the perfect touch.
Great wine list too. A must try if you are in town. I'm going back one day to order the grilled Caesar salad!
Always a great meal. Jamie is so creative with his fare. I had the grilled oysters with parmesan cheese for an appetizer. The fish was a pan fried Trigger fish, which I had never eaten before. It was a white, mild, delicious fish.
Looking forward to seeing what's up Jamie's sleeve this weekend!!
