It was a perfect place for date night. Quiet, yummy, and cozy.
It was just okay. Out of the food we wanted. Servers were very nice.
A reliably good place to enjoy gourmet pizza, pasta, and tasty entrées like the excellent duck breast special I ordered.
Pleasant setting, good quality food, excellent service.
Short-staffed, so long wait times, even for a cocktail as well as entrée. But the martini was expertly crafted—superb, and the striped bass (one the the day’s specials) was well prepared and paired. Service, although slow due the volume of the pre-theatre crowd, was courteous, efficient and unflustered.
We came to kick start our evening where we were going to attend a performance at Everyman Theater. Dinner her is a great way to start. The feeling of the whole place is perfect - quiet enough to talk, but with an energy that you can feel. The service is friendly and attentive, but not over bearing. They even did a great job ensuring we were able to make the performance without making us feel rushed. Finally the food was great. I had the gnocchi. She had pasta with a duck ragu. Both were wonderful. Top them off with great cocktails and the evening was off to a great start indeed!
Great restaurant Went before a show at the Hippodrome.
It was a pre theater brunch. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken, food was slow to be delivered , so we had to rush to eat and get to the theater. Food was very good and the server was pleasant and accommodating.
Great food and service. Make a reservation since it’s a hot spot for nearby theaters.
We always love the food and convenience of being across the Street
from the Hippodrome!
Went on a Saturday evening for the 1/2 price bottles of wine. Kyle was an amazing server! I’ll definitely be back
The service was great, the food, regrettably wasn’t a good combination of ingredients and the margarita was lacking in sauce and mozzarella.
Delicious gluten free pizza (and pasta options too). Nice drink and wine list!
Great food, great atmosphere. Our waiter was pleasant and very helpful. Plus great location for seeing a show at the Hippodrome.
We were going to a show at the Hippodrome.. this was the perfect place to eat. The food was excellent.
We ate at Forno before a show at the Hippodrome Sunday evening. We had Squid Ink Fettuccine and Fig Ricotta Ravioli, both were very tasty. Server ensured we were able to enjoy our meal and get out on time to see the show. Definitely would return to try more from the menu.
So glad to be dining at Forno again after seeing a play at the Hippodrome. Same great place as before COVID! We’ll be back in December! Thank you!!
Hostess at entrance was very friendly and accommodating. She even was able to assist me with future Forno's reservations. Server Janelle was outstanding! Very pleasant and explained dishes and offered suggestions. Visited table to ensure we were happy with the food and service. Food was excellent! Wonderful seeing new dishes on the menu for this new Hippodrome Theater subscription beginning. And an unbelievably attentive and caring bartender named Kyle! He was so personable and on point with his drinks and service. All an asset to Forno's, and all should be commended!
Great brunch before Hippodrome show. Limited menu but worked for all of us! One friend had the frittata , one chicken and waffles and I pieced together a brunch with 3 sides- bacon, a waffle and grits. All were excellent! The waitress was super nice and working very hard covering multiple tables. Mimosas were good too
The meatballs were still VERY cold… like fresh out of the refrigerator cold. The Calamari tasted like the primary spice was salt and the pizza crust was burned. It was a super off night for a restaurant well known for being hit or miss as it is. The primary reason we occasionally eat here is the convenience to the Hippodrome. We just wish there were more options in the area
So sorry not to give 5 stars to Forno that we have LOVED in the past and understanding that restaurants are struggling as we emerge from the pandemic. That said our server was friendly and knowledgeable. She was also severely stretched. We had to wait for everything. The food was also disappointing, the Brussels sprouts recipe did not need changing and they arrived cold to our table with a bland and heavy sauce. Mussels were tasty but half of them hadn’t opened, which were replaced by a new order, thank you. Lastly the 2 pizzas needed a little more time in the oven, the crust was pale and not a yummy bit of char to be found. We’ll likely give Forno another chance once things are more settled.
The perfect after matinee spot. Excellent scallop dish with house-made pasta and delicious truffled cream sauce. Crisp roasted Brussels sprouts for starter and excellent, thin crust pizzas for others in our party. Excellent service by Max was attentive and discreet. A lovely dining experience!
As always, the food was excellent and our server was super attentive and helpful... glad to see that they've survived the pandemic without any drop in their quality or service level.
A good meal on a very busy night w Steely Dan laying across the street!
Went prior to Steely Dan show. Was very crowded but the wait staff did a great job keeping up. We all 4 different pizzas and all were very good. Will dine here again.
PreHippodrome event dining. Casual & festive atmosphere. Nice menu & wine & beer offering.
Convenient to the Hippodrome, excellent food and service. Highly recommended!
Good food and service. My friend found her “new favorite” wine.
We always know that dinner at Forno’s before the theater will be very enjoyable.
Forno is delicious every time (and we are regulars)! We love that they change the menu regularly, so there is always something new to try, and we've never been disappointed. They also a selection of good wines.
The good -Forno pizza is always really good last night they had a butternut squash sauced pizza which was outstanding
The Bad -spaghetti and meatballs were inedible meatballs under cooked pasta over cooked and clumped and not sure why there was cilantro sprinkle on top maybe chef meant to reach for basil or parsley and grabbed cilantro
Finally the service and server were very good
Barely made it to our show because the kitchen was very backed up. Make sure you give them at least 2 hours before a show.
We frequently went there pre-theater prior to COVID. The food was very good, but some old favorites are no longer on the menu. The truffled papperdelle was excellent - scallops cooked perfectly, pasta was al dente, and the mushroom cream sauce was flavorful, but not too heavy. Appetizers were octopus (excellent combo of ingredients) and oysters (good). Nice selection of wines by the glass, craft beers, and innovative cocktails. The best part was the wait staff (which was clearly reduced in numbers) who did an incredible job to provide prompt and courteous service. One waiter was tasked with serving the entire outdoor space and he was phenomenal. We appreciate that staff shows up so that clients can enjoy eating out!
Having been to Forno before, we know what to expect in food and service. Unfortunately the service was SLLLOOOOWWWW...and we do understand that is a direct affect of the Pandemic and staffing issues. We felt bad for your wait staff b/c they could not keep up with the pre-show crowd for the Hippodrome. Hope things improve in the future.
Great to see Forno's packed! Yay! Wait staff (and I assume everyone else) was working as hard as possible! Very thoughtful and polite despite immense business level. Thanks.
The food was fine but took way too long to arrive. For a theatre restaurant this is a problem.
Max, our server was excellent. Well informed and personable! I hope you do what you can to keep her — she is a real asset!
Great service, great food
Had a great pre-concert dinner and cocktails. Loved the Brussels sprouts, PEI Mussels with white wine garlic sauce, and the baked oysters. Must try! Mule and Basil Melon Spritzer were also tasty! Would love to go back to try the entrees and the wine.
Great food and atmosphere. Love the gnocchi and the pizza. Parking was super easy for me around 7pm on a week day.
