Food was great. Slightly overpriced but worth a trip. Our waitress seemed like she was having an off night...not very friendly and on the slow side.
If you want a nice meal out with friends or family this is the perfect place. It is the kind of place you can go and sit and talk over a good meal. I was just there with an old friend and we sat and chatted over our diner they even let us sit there and not rush us out. The place was almost empty in the restaurant but the bar was hopping. Yet it was still nice and peaceful where we where. The only thing I can say is it was a little chilly in there.
If you want you can go into the bar for live music and drinks. They seemed to have a great older crowd in there and the music sounded like it was low enough that you could still hear yourself think or have a conversation.
Went New Years Eve, the food tasted like it was store bought frozen food,
Ordered baked clams and I would have bet any amount of money it www Matlaws frozen baked clams
The Veal was full of grease from the fryer and my plate had a puddle on it
Would never go back
We had a lovely anniversary dinner. My husband had Ravioli, and I had the duck. The portions were large,( I couldnt finish mine). The food was very good, the presentation excellent and our server attentive. We will return. ( I saw many things on the menu that I would like to try)
Nice outside dining. Patrons next to us lit up a cigar and they blew the smoke our way. Food was good, although I thought I had read they made their own pasta, I could be wrong. Decent selection of beer and wine. Waiter not very sure of things, and seemed to rush us and not allow us time to chat.
Saturday early dinner Forno - warm bread, Caesar salad, and Filet Mignon were excellent. Our waiter was quite attentive and the food arrived faster than we expected.
Our party of 4 was seated at a table in the front. Every time the door down the long entrance hall opened , a cold wind blew through the dining room. People around us were wearing their winter coats while eating. Service was horrific. Our waiter took 15 minutes to first make it to our table. The salads (which were good but not great) came out fairly promptly but then the great wait began. Our entrees came out after 9 pm - we had a 6:30 reservation - and 3 out of 4 dinners were not hot but at that point we chowed them down like ravaged wolves in the wild (which was the ambiance with the cold wind blowing) They had a consultant named Larry who apologized throughout the long night and he did ply us with rounds of free drinks and threw in free deserts too but when you get served a lukewarm dinner after 9 pm when you had a 6:30 reservation...all is lost. Can't remember a crappier restaurant experience and would never return....there 's no chance this place is going to survive!
This was our first visit to this charming restaurant tucked away at the end of a strip of storefronts. The friendly staff accommodated our reservation request and our party of six was seated on time. The restaurant features a piano bar that provides a separate space to enjoy a cocktail before dining. The wait staff could not have been friendlier. The service was excellent. In addition to the daily specials, the menu featured a wide range of tasty choices for a fair price. Forno Italiano even offers a loyalty program that provides future perks. We will definitely be back!
We've visited Forno's several times. Always a great experience. The House made sweet potato ravioli was unbelievably good. Very friendly, professional service every visit.
If I can not go into the city I go to forno. The place is beautiful. The food is old world Italian and the service is friendly. I suggest the Eggplant and the Sunday Gravy. Start with the Grilled octopus. You will not be disappointed. It always reminds me of my grandmothers cooking back in the day.
We ordered appetizers and dinner. The Italian toast app as well as the eggplant entree was good. The pork chop entree was fair at best - dry and little flavor. The food took a very long time to come out - not a server issue, but with the kitchen even though the restaurant was not busy. Will give it another try and see how it goes.
This was the second time here. First time with just me and the wife. Second with family. Both times food and service very good. Prices higher than some restaurants in the area, but reasonable.
Overall, all was quite good to excellent, we will tell our friends, the out door dining room was excellent with the live music playing.
While it was too quiet for a Wednesday night out, the food, the atmosphere and the service were all excellent. They made my husband's birthday celebration very enjoyable and the food was both plentiful and reasonably priced for its high quality.
We picked the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion... The food was great as well as the ambiance and service. Would highly recommend and can't wait to go back again and sit on the patio this time and enjoy the fire pit!
My wife and I went there for our 27th wedding anniversary and were more than pleasantly surprised by many things, those being the size and scope of the seating area was incredible, the food was tremendous and the ambiance was terrific. Will recommend this restaurant to all our friends as this was truly a gem.
I know there have been mixed reviews for this restaurant, but I must say we see an improvement in service each time we go. The food is always delicious, creative and consistent and there is never a bad attitude in the house. This time we brought some friends and they had a great time and raved about how delicious their meals were. The winners on this visit: the Polenta fries (great for our gluten-free diner), grilled Octopus (now a fave), the Short Rib is amazing and we love the Pistachio Semi Freddo!! We'll be back!
Just spent too much money for what we got. Kids meatball with spaghetti was cold in the middle... calamari was good and linguini with clam was gritty. Small portions, high prices but service was friendly and place was nice.
Great food. Great service. Definitely the place to go in the Sparta area.
We ate at Forno Italiano for my husband's birthday. Our party had spaghetti carbonara, potato gnocchi, veal parmesan and farfalle manchego shrimp. The farfalle was too sweet for my taste and the shrimp were a little rubbery, but everyone else enjoyed their entrees. The beet salad was very good, although the "small" was pretty large. Desserts- tiramisu and panna cotta with a raspberry sauce- were very tasty. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but the food, especially dessert, was very slow to come out, even though the restaurant didn't appear to be at all crowded on a Sunday night. It's an attractive place, and we will return, but only when we have plenty of time.
