About Forno Bistro
Anchoring Saratoga's vibrant downtown Forno Bistro is a family-owned bistro that offers a variety of rustic, Tuscan-style food rooted in tradition. Our chef's use only the freshest seasonal ingredients to prepare dishes with respect to their flavors, appearance and aroma. The menu is sophisticated but approachable, expressing the sense of hearth and home that defines the Tuscan style of life. Forno Bistro's rustic, Tuscan-style food is hearty and unpretentious with sophisticated flavors rooted in tradition and always open to new interpretations and adaptations. Many of our dishes are greatly influenced by the use of the wood-fired oven: homemade pizzas, sautéed calamari, and wood-fired towers of vegetables. The oven is always the inspiration.

Forno Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Calamari was tough and very salty - really not very good. Entrees were decent but they didn't "wow" us. Ambiance and location is very nice and our server was very good. Pretty stingy pour on the glass of wine. It just seemed that the food/value was a notch below the atmosphere and service. If we were to go back it would be to sit in the bar area and have a pizza, but we probably won't return for the dinner entrees.
This is one of our favorite places to dine - I love the new casual environment - the staff is always amazing. Great for a quick bite at the bar or a dinner.
I love their Eggplant Parmesan - everything is fresh and farm to table.
Summer thru Fall they have outdoor seating also
If you're in Saratoga this is a must
We returned the first course, fried calamari, because it was rubbery, greasy and undercooked. They did take it off our bill.
My husband’s main course, steak was perfect but overpriced ($36). My main course, chicken with a little cheese and ham was over cooked and dry,
We were disappointed and won’t be returning.
I wonder if there’s a new chef.
We almost always recommend Forno Bistro as our first choice for a restaurant in Saratoga. There are several reasons. We know we can count on excellent food with a great selection, excellent service from attentive experienced wait staff accommodating special diet requests pretty lively atmosphere outdoor comfortable seating with pretty setting.
Our only concern is that because it is always so popular, when we want a very quiet dining place we may hesitate to go there but they try to find us the quietest area and since everything else is so outstanding we highly recommend Forno Bistro and love going there.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and great service. The food is your standard over-sized Italian fare. They aren't going for quality in meals but rather quantity. So if you are looking for free range chicken, local vegetables or organic options - you won't find them here. If you are looking for a large portion of standard Italian food - pasta, chicken, pizza- then this is a great restaurant for you. The noise levels in the restaurant are rather high. So, if you are hoping to have an intimate meal with good conversation - I would not recommend this restaurant. If you enjoy having a drink at the bar and socializing with people around you - then this would be a good place for you to go.
We (4 in our party) went for Saratoga Restaurant week and it was a good experience. Luckily, we had an early reservation (5:30pm) so we had a table near the windows and had plenty of room. As the night wore on, the tables near the bar became full and it was very difficult to move between tables. The food was excellent and the portions/prices were fair for a 'restaurant week menu'.
The hostess did not honor our reservation at the requested time indicating that their records showed that it was for 1.5 hours later. Even after showing her the OpenTable confirmation, we were made to wait for at least 30 minutes for a table without any accommodations to make up for it.
We met friends for an overdue anniversary dinner. We arrived early and asked the hostess if we could have a drink at the bar before being seated and she accommodated us. It was happy hour so the bar was busy but we found seats and enjoyed a drink before being seated. Bar tenders were a bit slow at providing a bill before being seated. We sat along a window in a slowly filling room and ordered drinks and eventually dinner. Food was delicious, service was good but as we completed our meal our server was drawn to a new very large/noisy party and we were somewhat forgotten. We flagged another server down and ordered dessert. Our original server returned later with the bill. Overall the evening was fun and delicious but service was a bit off kilter.
We made a reservation for 6 people and were jammed into a table meant for 4 people. The food was OK not great. It was not a comfortable, pleasant experience for 6 adults who were expecting to enjoy good food and pleasant conversation for our annual visit together.
Admittedly we expected to have just an okay meal. We arrived early and the restaurant was jam packed with no seats to wait or at the bar. The bartender was extremely attentive and saw we were standing in the back and came out to meet us with a wine list. He let me sample a wine (which I didn't care for), then I explained what my wife and I generally look for in a wine. He made a suggestion and it was terrific. We were seated shortly after our other guests arrived and the woman who was our server was extremely attentive to our needs and questions. Her descriptions of the food were spot on. When she came to check on us, my wife expressed that her lamb was not cooked to the specifications she requested. The server immediately agreed and took it back to be cooked a little longer. All of our meals were very, very good and the desserts we split were as well. It is a little crowded an noisy; however, the food exceeded all of our expectations and the server was one of the best any of us had experienced (and we've been to quite a number of restaurants in our lifetime).
The decor of this restaurant was very intriguing combing the organic with urban.
While we enjoyed our experience due to our server Steve, the noise level was quite high.
Would not recommend for a nice quiet dinner.
The cocktails were perfectly balanced, i would return just for them if not for the food.
Pasta con Vongole suffered from an excessive amount of the very fresh and spicy peroncini, overshadowing the flavor of the clams, bacon and even garlic (which was lacking).
The Rack of lamb was very tender.
We've had many a flourless chocolate cake and this tasted more like a brownie than cake, a disappointment.
Over the years Forno Bistro had become one of our favorite restaurants in Saratoga. With the renovations came a change -- it now feels a lot more like a bar scene with a lot of noise and insufficient value and quality to make up for the loss of feel. Saratoga has a great selection of restaurants so I doubt we will return for dining. However, should we be looking for a bar scene, Forno looks just like the rest and serves some good specialty cocktails, so we might venture in before dining some place else.
I have dined there several times and have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. The service is always friendly and attentive. It can take a while for the food to come out, and Saturday night was no different. Although busy, the restaurant was not full. It was the first time I had seen the renovated bar/dining area. While opening up the bar really works, I do not like the fact that the floor of the restaurant was raised to the level of the bar.
