I understand that staffing is short now- and they were all
friendly and did there job well. But for the price of the meal, food just came out too slow. Our server should
Have come out to apologize and he didn’t- and perhaps offer more bread or ask if we wanted another drink, on the house would have been nice. Food was excellent.
Excellent food. Excellent service.
Excellent food and atmosphere! A bit delayed in taking our initial order, but each course was orchestrated with perfection!
Had a little bit of everything from octopus to profiteroles. We all enjoyed everything. The gluten free pasta was a wonderful option for those needing to avoid gluten. Service was knowledgeable and attentive.
We were there for a meal prior to a concert at the United Center.
The first words out of the hostess mouth as we sat down were:
"You have 1 hour and 45 minute dining limit on your table. Since you your reservation was at 5:45 you now have 1 hour and 40 minutes."
Although we had no intention of dining for a long time, we experienced this as harsh and unwelcoming.
I can't believe a high end dining establishment would put a time limit on a table.
Exceptional dining experience. Every menu item we tried was incredibly delicious. Starting with the Fritto Misto, the pepperoncini aioli added an interesting flavor that grew better with each bite. We then tried the Wood-Roasted Beets Salad, and OMG! The flavor was freaking awesome. The fried quinoa and Sicilian pistachios gave it an interesting texture as well as enhancing the flavor to perfection. For the main dish, I had the Whole Grilled Branzino, served with pea tips (a green leafy root vegetable) and chilies, which added just a bit of heat but nothing overwhelming. These ingredients were the perfect combination to the hint of smoky flavor – and the fish just melted in my mouth! My husband had the dinner portion of Bucatini Cacio e Pepe – and enjoyed every last bite to the bottom of the bowl. I deal with a food allergy, and the executive chef came out go introduce himself and make sure they were accommodating my allergies. The service was exceptional, from keeping our beverage glasses full to changing silverware between each course and checking back at regular intervals to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Our only disappointment was not having room for dessert! And I regret not taking any pictures because the presentation was beautiful. We look forward to going back.
This was disappointing visit to what is considered an upscale restaurant. Server was unattentive and forced us to order the entire dining course at once when we were really considerring just ordering apps and orderring as needed. I understand this may have to do with efficiency, but that put an immediate damper on the experience, as there were many items we wanted to try. We probably would have ordered more, had we been allowed to order that way. We like to eat. She didn't check in on us, or ask if we need another adult beverage, but checked in on the table around us. Brought the receipt with no pen and then rushed us for our signature after wards. I can go on, but i'll leave it there. These times are difficult for everyone to navigate and we went out knowing that patience would be needed as we have heard that restaurants are understaffed. However, I was not expecting poor service on top of that.
Great food, portions were small even with family style. Service was slow.
This has little resemblance to quality Italian. It’s an overpriced American version and the pasta is poor quality. Overcooked. Salty and just not good.
Awesome anniversary dinner with friends! Great food, service, drinks & atmosphere.
amazing service and even better food! I have tried many Italian restaurants in Chicago and this is top 5 for sure!
The food was great, but by far what made our experience was our server. I think her name was Pamela, Pam? I hope I didn't mess that up because she was super nice, very knowledgeable, helped accommodate our party's dietary restrictions, and was absolutely amazing at checking in without interrupting our conversations. Our food came out quickly, our drinks were constantly getting refilled, and we were able to just enjoy ourselves.
Very good service, food was amazing. Loved the atmosphere as-well.
Nice outdoor seating arrangement. Service was solid. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Our waiter was extremely uppity to us. We asked if there was an option to stay in the ~$50 bottle of wine price range and he literally laughed at us. Incredibly rude. Huge turn-off for our family. We will not be returning.
Family in town
As usual, we received exceptional service and had such a lovely time. The food was outstanding! It was a very special experience. I love this restaurant!
I thought it was terrific. I love swordfish and I had the best I've ever had. There were five in my group and everybody really liked their entrees. We shared appetizers and desserts . I tried three or four appetizers which were excellent. Most people liked the desserts. I liked the chocolate cake a lot. I'm anxious to go back there.
Birthday dinner for my son and girlfriend. Celebrating both!
One of the best Italian restaurants I have been too. Food was excellent. We had the ricotta, meatball appetizer, carbonera, ribeye, and spring onion pesto pasta. All were superb. I don't think I ever had ricotta that good before; it was light and refreshing, if that makes sense for cheese. The meatball was the perfect consistency and flavor served with a wonderful marinara sauce. Steak was seasoned and cooked beautifully. I ordered the spring onion by mistake (the waiter heard my order wrong) and was pleasantly surprise how good it was. The highlight of the meal was the carbonera though.
Best gluten free pasta in the city!!
Food was extremely overpriced. $48 for pasta didn’t seem right to me.
Won’t be back
Delicious food, mostly great service (our server was not the most eloquent at selling the food) and we had to wait almost 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated, though a very cool vibe. Highly suggest the pastas and the Moscow mule, though their selection of wine is quite nice as well. Meatballs are a must and some of the salads pair well!
You can’t go wrong with this West Loop restaurant. Everything was great. The bread and oil, the kale salad, the fruitti di mare, the carbonara (best I’ve had), and the chocolate cake and house made chocolate gelato. And the service was perfect.
So romantic, the ambience was AMAZING!
Such a good experience! Everything was so delicious, the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean and everyone was super nice and attentive. We will definitely be back again.
The restaurant is great with allergies and they take the time to listen. Thanks Formento's!
Food was extraordinary, the vibe was energetic but classy, and the staff was extremely attentive. This is a neighborhood gem and I will be coming back absolutely!
Delicious food, attentive service and classic cocktails.
Fantastic service! Even with being short staffed, they were still extremely attentive.
This was a great surprise. Didn’t expect it to be as delicious as it was. The menu was incredibly original while also incorporating much of the Italian flavors we are used to and love. Favorite dish was the ricotta with honey and grapes ap. So creamy and delicious. Highly recommend!
Fantastic food and environment. I’ll be going here for all my special occasions!
Pasta was amazing. The carbonara and orecchiette were some of the best I've had.
The food was delicious! Great service and nice to be able to sit outside.
General chaos in service. They missed bringing me an item altogether. My pasta portion was tiny, but my companion’s order was very large…. Confusing portion sizes, IMO. They comped us a bit on the bill, but that is not really the point, after such spotty service. I will not be going back.
I was very disappointed with our dining experience primarily because of the food. We ordered several courses: meatballs, bucatini, spinach, filet in bone and lamb. The food was over salted. In addition the spinach had a hot pepper flavoring that overpowered the dish. My lamb was not cooked appropriately twice. I asked for medium. When it first came out the outside was charred and well done when I cut into it. They redid and it was raw in the center. Definitely not worth the $200 we spent. Fortunately wait staff was apologetic and professsional. I will not be returning and do not recommend.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Great wine list.
Amazing food, you could tell pasta was fresh made and the experience was every bit of authentic. 10/10 would come back without a doubt!
Fantastic food, great service, great ambience, really enjoyed ourselves
